Chapter 1441
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
âYes, sheâs here.â Eloise pulled Renee to the balcony. She wasnât worried that Renee would try to escape or expose her true identity to Jovan; she would have done that long ago if she really wanted to.
âWhere is she?â Jovan asked Eloise eagerly.
âSheâs sitting in front of you. Just take your time and talk to herâ¦â Eloise patiently explained.
There were two lounge chairs and a small tea table on the balcony. Both Jovan and Renee sat across from each other, tea and fruits on the table between them.
âPlease leave us alone, Elly,â Jovan ordered Eloise, who was standing nearby.
âJust ignore me, Mr. Hunt. I wonât disturb you.â Eloise wasnât worried about Renee, but she was scared Jovan might realize something, given how smart he was. Letting them meet was already very risky.
âItâs not about whether youâll disturb me or not, Iâm just not used to having a third person around if Iâm going to chat with someone.âBooks Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
âButâ¦â
âAre you going to disobey me?â Jovanâs tone was calm but menacing.
âOkay, I⦠Iâll go make tea for you both.â Naturally, Eloise didnât dare to disobey Jovan. She retreated obediently but shot Renee a desperate look before leaving.
Renee nodded slightly to reassure Eloise.
After Eloise left, Jovan and Renee were the only ones on the spacious balcony. The sunlight was warm because they were on the rooftop of the manor, and the occasional breeze was somewhat soothing.
âWhatâs your name?â Jovan asked softly as he faced her.
The breeze toyed with Reneeâs hair as she looked at him and replied, âBrisa Stone. My name is⦠Brisa Stone.â During her time as a special agent, sheâd learned how to change her voice, so she altered her tone to sound like an innocent female student so Jovan wouldnât find her out.
âBrisa Stoneâ¦â Jovan said slowly, then smiled. âItâs a rather refreshing name. Iâm sure youâre a bright person. Have you ever considered what youâll face after you give your eyes to me?â
âYes, of course.â Renee felt relaxed as she stared at the mountains in the distance. They said the eyes were the windows of the soul, so would her soul be trapped forever when she lost hers? âIâm a person whoâs very curious about the world, and I want to see every part of it. If I lose my eyes, Iâll spend the rest of my life in darkness. Itâs⦠itâs a horrible thought.â
