Chapter 1484
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
âNo!â Adie said sharply, then urged, â Be honest with me, Mommy. What happened? Was it Jovan who hurt your eyes? He took your eyes for himself because heâs blind and unhappy, didnât he?â
âAdie, thatâs not possible, you canât replace your eyes that way. Stop imagining things, Iâm just suffering from an eye inflammation.â Renee waved and denied it guiltily, wondering how Adie was so smart.
âYes, you canât replace your eyes that way, but itâs done after matching, right? Youâve been missing for so many days, but you were just in Jovanâs manor having the surgery. Isnât that right?â Adie kept up his interrogation. He had found out that Renee was in Jovanâs manor based on her GPS signal, but he didnât know why she was there. Now, he could see through Jovanâs evil schemes.
âNo, thatâs not true. Stop asking me questions. Why did you go out on your own? Didnât I ask you not to do that? Iâm going to be angry with youâ¦â Renee scolded Adie, Do you know how dangerous it is out there? Youâre just a kid, but you went out alone late at night. If you met a kidnapper, you wouldnât get to see Abby and me for the rest of your life.â
âIâm not afraid of kidnappers,â Adie muttered and added,â You know Iâm not scared of bad guys; Iâm just afraid that you and Abby might get in danger or be bullied. Iâm the man of this house, and I want to protect you both⦠So, did Jovan take your eyes? Iâll ask him to return them now!â He clenched his fists, feeling sorry and angry for Renee.
âItâs not that simple. Jovan is a victim too, and he would never do something like that to me,â Renee answered vaguely. She knew that she couldnât keep it from Adie for long given his intelligence.
âSo, he didnât take your eyes, but you gave them up to him⦠Am I right?â Adie instantly found the loophole in Reneeâs words and questioned her.
âIâ¦â Renee bit her lip, starting to sweat. Why did Adie have to be so smart? She hadnât even eaten nutritious food when she was pregnant with him! In just a few minutes, he had almost dug the truth out of her. However, considering how naive Abby was, maybe her food intake during her pregnancy had nothing to do with it. The twins were just too different.
âOkay, Mommy. I know youâre tired, so you should go to bed. Iâm sure your eyes will get better after some rest. Abby, you should go to bed too.â Adie patted Reneeâs shoulders and said to Abby, âGo and sleep with Margaret, Abby. Iâll take care of Mommy.â
âNo, I want to take care of Mommy too because Iâve promised to be her eyes forever.â Shaking her head, Abby hugged Renee tightly and refused to let go.
