Chapter 213
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
âBrother Stefan, Sister Renee, itâs been a long time since I watched a movie. Letâs go see one!â Jane chirped energetically, and held their hands as they walked towards the cinema.
âUmmâ¦â Renee stole a glance at Stefan. She figured that watching a movie would be a boring activity for Stefan given his status and position surely he would refuse Janeâs request.
However, he said indifferently, âI havenât watched a movie in a long time too. The new animation called Soul Travel should be nice.â
âYou know about Soul Travel?â Renee asked immediately, her eyes lighting up. âIâve been wanting to watch that movie! I heard itâs good, but not many wanted to watch it, so they donât play it much. If we donât watch it now, itâll soon be out of theatres.â
Stefan nodded. âTrue. Itâs about saving oneâs soul. My Grandma Coco, which is produced by the same company, is pretty good too.â
âYeah, I liked that one. I watched it when it was first released, and cried like a baby in the cinemaâ¦â
Before they realised it, they were chatting with each other like old friends. They found that they were both film enthusiasts, and had watched almost the same movies as the other. Their comments and understanding of the movies were oddly similar too. Both of them felt that they had finally found someone else with the same taste, and they regretted not finding out sooner.
In the end, Renee chuckled and said, âStefan, I always thought that you were just an emotionless capitalist who only cares about money, but it turns out that youâve got a soul too!â
Stefan raised his brows and scoffed, âLikewise. I always thought that you were just a dumb and gullible pretty girl.â
The movie was about to start. They held their tickets and went to line up to enter the hall. The line was long, and Stefan stood behind Renee in the line. They were both quite eager to watch the movie.
As they were lining up, Renee suddenly felt like something was amiss. âStefan, do you feel like somethingâs missing?â
He tilted his head slightly and inquired. âWhatâs missing?â
Reneeâs eyes widened and she gasped, Jane! Sheâs gone!â
Stefan looked around, his eyebrows raised in surprise. They looked at each other anxiously, realising how serious the situation was.
âJane! Jane!â Renee panicked and shouted Janeâs name. She was so nervous that her voice was shaky.
Jane was Mr. and Mrs. Woodâs beloved daughter, and even Renee loved her like she was her own child. Jane was missing due to their own carelessness. What if she had been kidnapped by a human trafficker? It was too horrible to even contemplate, and Renee prayed it wasnât the case.
âJane, where are you? Come back now! Donât scare me, Jane!â Renee scurried around the crowded cinema, panicked and desperate. Her eyes soon became red and watery as she held back tears.
Seeing her like that made Stefanâs heart ache, and he rested his large palms on her shoulders reassuringly. Stefanâs voice was calm and steady as he told her, âDonât worry, sheâs probably still in the mall. Iâll ask people to block all the exits here. Weâll find her!â
Renee was at a loss for words. She nibbled her lip unsurely, her eyes full of tears as she looked up at him. Even though she hated Stefan, she felt like as long as he was here, the issue would be solved.
Even if things got out of hand, he would definitely figure a way out.
They looked at each other intently, emotions whirling in their eyes.
Suddenly, they heard a chilling scream from nearby.
âAh! Heâs going to kill her! Run!â
