Chapter 219
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Soon, they arrived at a nearby hospital.
After the doctor tended to Janeâs wound, he turned to face Stefan and Renee. âThe wound is just on the surface, so itâs nothing serious. She just has to make sure the wound doesnât get wet, and sheâll have to apply ointment on it once in the morning and once at night.â
âThatâs good to know.â Renee finally felt relaxed. She held Janeâs hand and told her regretfully, âJane, Iâm sorry. Itâs all my fault for not looking after you well enough. Can you ever forgive me?â
Jane blinked at her and patted Reneeâs head like Renee was the child. âRenee, donât be silly. Youâre so cute and brave. You saved all of us.
so of course Iâll forgive you!â
Jane then turned to look at Stefan. âStefan, donât you think Renee is extremely cute and brave?â
Stefan harrumphed and muttered darkly. âI donât know about that, but I do know that thereâs something very wrong with her brain.â
He still hadnât fully recovered from the fear he experienced at the shopping mall. If that man had been quicker with his knife, or if she had failed to defuse the bomb, the consequences wouldâve been unimaginable!
âSince weâre at the hospital, why donât we let the doctor check if thereâs something wrong with your brain?â Stefan then turned to look at the doctor in a serious manner. âGet a checkup done for her.â
Renee scowled angrily and snapped, âStefan, donât push it. I saved your life! Not only did you not thank me, youâre saying such mean things to me too! Do you even have a shred of emotional intelligence?
Youâre worse than a sixâyearâold!â
Stefan pretended not to hear her. His expression was blank as he continued speaking to the doctor.
âMake sure you check her thoroughly. I think there are issues with her from head to toe.â
Renee might have escaped the bomber unscathed in the shopping mall, but Stefan was still worried.
He felt it was better if she received a thorough checkâup.
âThat wonât be necessary!â Renee crossed her arms and looked at the doctor stubbornly. âDoctor, donât listen to that crazy man â Iâm perfectly fine. Heâs just jealous that I saved the day while he did nothingâ¦
Thanks for tending to Janeâs wound. Weâll be leaving.â
With that, she pulled Jane along.
To her surprise, Stefan walked even faster than them and growled at her, âClueless. Extremely idiotic.â
âHuh?â Renee was confused. Had the man lost his mind? Shouldnât she be the one saying that to him?
He was the one whoâd insulted her for no reason.
Stefan made it to the elevator before them. He walked in, turned around and said to Renee icily. âFrom now on, donât appear in front of me.
I donât ever want to see you again.â He then pressed the button to close the elevator doors.
Renee was stunned. Had he actually left? She didnât know how to react.
âJane, donât you think thereâs something wrong with him? I didnât do anything to piss him off. Why was he throwing a tantrum? Are all men so egotistical?â Renee asked incredulously.
Jane looked up at her and thought for a moment. âI think Brother Stefan asked the doctor to check you because he was worried about you, but you refused to cooperate, and thatâs why he got mad!â
âWhen I got sick in the past, my parents would always take me to the hospital for checkups. Iâd always cry and refuse, and thatâs when they got mad. She added wisely.
âWorried about me?â Renee murmured absently. Janeâs innocent observation had given Renee an epiphany.
Stefan had indeed been acting strangely towards her these past few days. However, he probably wasnât worried about her. There had to be an ulterior motive!
