Chapter 229
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Renee looked down and saw her foot on top of Julianâs. Her face burned in embarrassment and she mumbled awkwardly, âIâm so sorry. I wasnât paying attention.*
âYouâre dancing with me. If youâre not paying attention to me, who are you paying attention to?â Julian asked her casually.
Renee stepped on Julianâs foot out of anger this time, and hissed, âWhy did you have to say that? Iâm already in a tough spot here!â
Wasnât it obvious? Of course, she had been focusing on Stefan. She felt like a thief prying into other peopleâs business when Julian called her out like that.
After a while, the song came to an end, and the lights went out.
Julian suddenly let go of Reneeâs waist. He spoke just loud enough for Stefan and the others to hear them. âSince we arenât good dance partners, why donât we try exchanging partners?â
*What?! Exchange partners?â Renee sputtered, but before she could react, Julian started walking towards Shirley. He reached out to her. âShall we dance?â
âIâ¦â Shirleyâs cheeks turned red as she looked at Julian, who resembled Stefan. She was flattered by the attention. They were both extremely attractive men, and each had their own unique traits â it was honestly hard to choose.
Shirley instantly replaced Renee as the most envied woman in the bar.
Suddenly, Stefan spoke up. âI think exchanging partners isnât a bad idea.â
After that, he let go of Shirley and walked up to Renee, staring deeply into her eyes. âLetâs dance.â
Although Renee wanted to refuse, she subconsciously put her hand in his.
The music that came on next was known as a freestyle waltz.
Reneeâs dancing wasnât too bad. Almost like a conditioned reflex, she straightened her spine, and she and Stefan began dancing effortlessly.
This actually wasnât the first time they had danced the waltz together. Although they didnât like each other, they danced very smoothly together. From afar, they looked like a match made in heaven.
The waltz was a relatively romantic dance, so their bodies were practically melded together. They could even feel the otherâs warmth.
Reneeâs nose was near Stefanâs chest, and she could smell his unique peppermint scent. For a moment, she indulged in it. âMr. Hunt, are you feeling lonely? We divorced not that long ago, but youâve already moved on to a college student?â
Renee immediately regretted asking him. As his ex-wife, she was in no place to ask him that question.
Stefan, meanwhile, was enjoying dancing with Renee under the spotlight.â How do you want me to answer that?â He asked slowly.
âI donât really care.â Renee pretended to be indifferent. âThe girl looks quite naive, so I just felt sorry for her. If you want to play around, I suggest you try with someone on your level. Donât hurt her, or sheâll be scarred for life.â
âShe is certainly naive, just like you were four years agoâ¦â Stefan murmured, looking down at the woman in his arms. He tightened his grip around her waist and studied her face intently. âSo, have you not moved on?â
