Chapter 296
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
âCecy didnât confess anythingâ¦
Christopher continued, âI just think, based on what I know about you, that you wouldnât be the kind of person to do that kind of thing. One, you have no motive, and two, itâs not worth it for you.â
Renee snorted coldly. âYeah. I have no motive and itâs not worth it for me. You can see such obvious things, but Stefan Hunt canât.â
âStefanâs a bit naive. He doesnât truly understand the complexity of the human heart.â
âYes, just like an idiot.â
The two could not help but smile at that. A thousand words were exchanged in those smiles.
Xavier was lying on the hospital bed with one leg hanging in plaster, unable to move. He was in a terrible state and was extremely agitated.
When he saw Christopher and Renee walk into his ward, he called out at them like a drowning man clutching at a straw, âThank god you two are here. Hurry up and get me out of here. This place is like a prison. I canât stay here for a minute longer.â
Christopher frowned and said seriously, âYou broke your leg. Can you calm down for a bit?â
âI canât!â
Xavier banged his arm on the side of the bed as he complained, âI have strangers helping me eat, drink, shower and pee. Itâs embarrassing. The most annoying thing is, I wanted to play a video game, but the nurse wouldnât even let me do that. You call this living?â
âThis wonât do. I have to get out of the hospital. No one can stop me!â
âButâ¦â
Christopher was worried.
He knew Xavier. Xavier was really stubborn. Once he decided to do something, no one could stop him.
âDonât you dare move!â
Renee suddenly shouted.
Xavier was like a brat who was throwing a tantrum, but he instantly calmed down and looked at Renee with a stunned face.
Renee slowly poured a glass of water and said, âYouâre an adult, for godâs sake. If you donât want strangers to take care of you, Iâll do it.â
After saying that, Renee moved the glass close to Xavierâs lips and said gently but forcefully, âCome, have some water. Your lips are a bit dry.â

Xavier gave Renee a complicated look, but his lips did not move. The atmosphere in the ward was tense.
Christopher wiped away sweat from his forehead.
After all, he knew the two of them had always been at odds. If they started fighting, it would be like a world war.
âUmmâ¦â
He was about to act as a mediator when something incredible happened.
Xavier lowered his head obediently and took a sip of water. He then said earnestly, âThank you. I was really thirsty.â
Renee looked down at Xavier like a queen, âAre you still gonna make a scene?â
âNo.â
âDo you still want to leave the hospital?â
âNo.â
âVery good.â
Renee nodded and told the timid nurse outside the door, âDidnât you say youâre going to give him an anti-inflammatory injection? You can do it now.â
For some strange reason, Xavier, who was screaming about leaving the hospital and refusing to let the nurse give him the injection a moment ago, was suddenly behaving himself. He let the nurse do whatever she had to do without a word of complaint.
Christopher looked like he was witnessing a miracle. He was so stunned that he could not speak for a long time.
He asked Renee in a whisper, âHow did you do that? This guyâs a notorious brat. He listens to no one but his father. Why is he suddenly so well behaved?â
Renee gave him a faint smile and flicked her hair smugly. âItâs probably because of my charisma.â
After the nurse changed Xavierâs medication, she left the ward.
Renee turned to Xavier and said, âIf you have nothing to do, then just rest.â
