Chapter 324
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Reneeâs words made Francine hesitate and she sighed. âYouâre right. As important as you are, my son is the priority at the end of the day. I canât cause trouble for him!â
âFinally youâre thinking straight!â Renee let out a sigh of relief and pointed at the hole. âGo now.â
Francine held Reneeâs hand and said seriously, âLetâs go together. Iâm not the kind of person thatâll put others in danger. I canât let you stay here!ââ
âIâm fine here. Itâs a lot better than being in the Hunt family, to be honest. They wonât hurt me, but I canât say the same if I ran away with you.â
Francineâs eyes softened in regret when she heard Reneeâs words. âThe Hunt family mistreated you in the past and for that⦠I apologize. I wasnât mean to you earlier because I hated you, itâs just that I thought you and Stefan wouldnât be happy together since you didnât have feelings for each other, so I wanted you to leave him⦠Iâm not actually an evil person.â
âI promise I wonât be mean to you anymore. I wonât push you to get pregnant or call you a jinx anymore.
Please⦠just consider getting back with Stefan and coming back to the Hunt family. Well treat you better than the Baldwin family, and Iâll stand by you no matter what happens!â Francineâs eyes welled up with tears as she spoke determinedly.
Renee felt touched seeing Francine like this â she had realized her mistake and was now trying to make things right.
Suddenly, Renee felt that she had to let go of the past. She had never hated Francine, frankly speaking, and now she was seeing her in a new light. She smiled and said teasingly, âI donât mind being called a jinx â itâs got a nice ring to it.â
âUgh, youâre always so sarcastic. I already apologized to you, canât you forgive me?â Francine whined, pouting like a child.
Renee raised her eyebrows and said, âSure, Iâll think about it. Go home and wait for my news.â
âReally?â Francineâs eyes glowed with excitement. âIf Stefan heard this, heâd be overjoyed. Heâs such a proud man that he couldnât bring himself to beg you to come back. So, I have to be the one to bring you back.â
âClearly, I was jokingâ¦â Renee thought to herself. She was just saying it to make sure Francine left.
Deep down, she knew that her time with Stefan had ended and there wouldnât be any chance of them getting back together.
Finally, Francine obediently climbed out through the hole. Before she left, she mumbled, âThis is the most embarrassing thing Iâve ever done. If not for all of you, I wouldâve started a fight with them.â
Renee stifled her laughter and said, âYouâre right. Youâre extremely magnificent and donât look undignified at all climbing out through that hole!â
When she was sure Francine was far away, she took some dirt and covered the hole neatly. âDone!â
She dusted her hands off and was about to head back and sleep. However, when she turned around, she was shocked to see Justin standing there.
Renee gasped and stumbled back. âWhen⦠When did you arrive?â
Justin wore a black sports outfit and had a headband wrapped around his head. He was sweating and breathing rapidly, and he looked very handsome. âI just got here. Are you here for a night jog too?â
âJust⦠jogging?â She questioned carefully.
âYeah⦠What else would I be doing?â He frowned and stared at the place where the hole was earlier and asked curiously, âWhat are you doing sneaking around this area?â
âNothing!â
