Chapter 479
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
âAhh!â Adieâs voice sent William, who was already tense and nervous, screaming. â Kiddo, y-youâre awake?â William stammered.
Adie rolled his eyes and started giving orders. âIdiot. Iâve been awake for a long time. Look ahead.
Pedal to the metal all the way. Turn the car as much to the left as possible, and force your way through.
Otherwise, weâre both doomed!â
Adie initially wanted to pretend to be asleep, but this man didnât seem the least reliable. Although it was obvious the other party was driving their way, he still hesitated and didnât go full speed ahead. Adie was terribly anxious.
âHuh? What?â Williamâs jaw dropped. He looked ahead and realized that he ought to follow Adieâs instructions.
Without thinking too much, William held onto the steering wheel tightly.â Iâm going to make a rapid turn.
Sit tight!â
Vroom, vroom, vroom! The roar of the carâs engine echoed throughout the dock. The vehicle headed toward a gap on the left, and just when it seemed they would get through, another car showed up from the opposite direction and blocked their way to Carmine Pawnshop.
The worst part was that Williamâs tire was completely ruined this time. The car couldnât be driven unless he replaced it with a new one!
âWhat do we do now?â William fell into despair with his hands on the steering wheel. He didnât mind dying, but the consequences would be unimaginable if this boy fell into the hands of the one-eyed man.
âKiddo, Iâll open the door later, and youâll jump off after that. Run to Carmine Pawnshop and tell them your name. Theyâll probably be able to protect you!â
Although Carmine Pawnshopâs name was mysterious to outsiders and was perceived as very powerful, their boss, Mr. Q, had a decent reputation.
Apart from always getting revenge on his enemies and being heavy- handed, heâd never done anything too perverse.
Therefore, it was better for Adie to fall into Mr. Qâs hands than the one- eyed man.
âLook after yourself first. Heâs about to break your window.â Adie pointed out the window while calmly warning William.
William watched as the one-eyed man broke the window after hitting it with his watermelon knife several times. Immediately after that, the man reached in and unlocked the car with force. âBloody hell.
Why would you even try to run away from me? You over-estimate yourself!â
âWhat are you doing? How can you kidnap a child so openly? There are laws in place for this. Iâll call the cops if you donât stop!â William argued while trying to reach for his phone.
âLaws?â The one-eyed man punched William in the head. âHahaha! People will laugh at you for being an idiot if you bring up the law in Water Dock. Here, the size of oneâs fist is the law. This kid is coming with me today, no matter what!â
After being punched, William felt dizzy. He was a doctor who merely used surgical knives. He was no match for the one-eyed man.
When he saw the one-eyed man opening the door to the backseat, he started yelling in Adieâs direction. âKid, run, now!â
However, Adie didnât panic. He crossed his arms. âHey, one-eyed guy, are you sure you want to take me with you? Iâm afraid you might not have what it takes!â
âHehe. This kid is interesting. Heâs got guts. That makes him perfect as my adopted son. Tell me. Why do you say I might not have what it takes?â
âThatâs because Carmine Pawnshopâs owner specifically asked for me. If you want me, that means youâre going against him. Why donât you take me to Carmine Pawnshop and fight with their boss? Iâll go with whoever wins,â Adie said in a logical manner.
âOh my god. You⦠You actually knew?â William nearly passed out after being hit. He was shocked when he heard what Adie said!
âAre you kidding me? Mr. Q has been very mysterious since he took over Carmine Pawnshop four years ago. He comes goes to Water Dock several times a year. Why would he want a kid like you?
Why would I fight him?
