Chapter 827
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Stefan remained composed, despite facing Reneeâs utter disbelief.
âNo⦠No way! That doesnât make sense at all!â The woman had goosebumps all over her body, and she quickly left the room. She had always thought that Stefan had some kind of ulterior motive for pestering her so much. The kinder he seemed, the worse his schemes could be. Hence, she knew that she couldnât let her guard down.
Since she couldnât seem to read him, the only thing she could do was distance herself from him, not giving him a single chance to âplot against herâ.
However, she was still considerate of his current condition, and knew that he wouldnât be able to survive on his own for the next few days.
Thus, she dialed Francineâs number, getting straight to the point. âYour sonâs back is strained, so you should hire a caretaker for him.â
Francine, on the other hand, seemed overjoyed to receive a call from her. She said brightly, âOh, my dear daughter-in-law, I was just about to call you! Guess where I am right now?â She seemed to have completely ignored the fact that her son was injured.
Renee frowned, asking in a dismissive tone, âI donât know, where are you?â
She then, once again, mentioned Stefan. âYour son is injured, you know? It looks pretty serious.â
Francine replied, âHaha, oh my dear, Iâm bringing Abby and Adie to see their grandpa and great-
grandpa! Theyâre definitely going to love these little rascals! Come quickly, and bring Stefan with you too. The old man would be even happier to see all of you together!â
âWhat?! You took Abby and Adie?â Renee was outraged. âWho gave you the right to take my children wherever you want?! Bring them back right now!â
This was the reason she didnât want her childrenâs existence to be known. The stubborn Hunts were a large family, so once they found out about the kids, she would have to face all of them.
âDeary, now how is that fair? I am their grandmother, so itâs not wrong for me to take them to visit family now, is it?â
âIt is if you did it without asking for my permission!â
âFine, Iâll ask for permission now. May I take the children to see their grandpa and great-grandpa, please?â Francine sounded slightly annoyed, clearly trying to control her temper.
âNo!â Renee rejected her immediately. âWhere are you now? Iâm heading over to pick Abby and Adie up. As for your son⦠heâs your problem now!â
âMy son?â Only then did Francine mention Stefan, but she sounded indifferent. âYou said he strained his back, didnât you? Then so be it! Itâs not like heâd die from that. If you can, just bring him with you. I donât really care as long as heâs still breathing⦠Okay, so thatâs all for now! My grandchildren are rushing me!â
Renee fell silent, thinking to herself, âFrancine sure is an extreme mother. She just abandoned her son because she has grandkids.â
