Chapter 882
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
âHmm.. Where should I begin? Actually, Iâm not sure how things turned out like this eitherâ¦â
Renee grabbed Leiaâs hand and let out a long sigh. She told Leia honestly, âI made up my mind not to get involved with him ever again, but things change. He came at me really aggressively. I couldnât stop him, so I pretended to accept him and waited for him to get bored. But after a while, I realized that heâs⦠actually not that bad.â
âNot that bad?!â
Leia poked Reneeâs forehead and scolded her, âHave you already forgotten about the pain he made you go through just because the wounds have healed? Have you forgotten about all the dirty things he did four years ago? Have you forgotten about all the hardship you went through in the last four years, having to bring up your children by yourself?â
âThat guy is cold and unpredictable. He might treat you well now, but what if he suddenly has a change of heart? Heâll hurt you again and snatch Adie and Abby away from you. Have you thought about that?â
âI haveâ¦â
Reneeâs beautiful face became slightly gloomy, but she soon lifted her head with confidence. âThe highest level of love is to not be afraid of losing. I accept his passion when he loves me, and Iâve also prepared myself to face his coldness when he doesnât love me anymore. Heâs just the icing on the cake for me now. Whatâs truly important is the cake â the icing is just an embellishment! I can live without it!â
Leia rolled her eyes helplessly and said, âWow, such wisdom! Iâve learned so much!â
Leia knew that she could never win an argument against Renee. Reneeâs IQ and EQ were both exceptionally high. She could crush Leia with words if she wanted to.
âBut what about my brotherâs feelings for you? If he found out that the goddess he has been protecting for the past four years has returned to the demon, I think he would go crazy!â
Leia paused. She really did not want to drag Liam into this if she could help it because she felt like she was guilt-tripping Renee, but if Renee and Stefan were to reunite, Liam was a problem that they could not avoid.
At least for Renee, it wasâ¦
Sure enough, Reneeâs mood instantly plummeted like she was riding a roller coaster.
Even if Leia had not mentioned Liam, he had been a constant thorn in Reneeâs heart. Whenever Renee thought of him, it would hurt really bad.
Guilt wrapped around her like a quagmire, making it hard for her to breatheâ¦
âLeia, I feel so guilty about your brotherâ¦â
Reneeâs eyes went red. She choked up. âIâve always lived an honest life. Iâve never felt like I treated anyone unfairly⦠except for your brother. I know that even if I try to make it up to him until my next life, I still canât fully repay him. I really donât know what to do. Tell me what I should do, Leia.â
At this point, she was already sobbing uncontrollably. She crouched down feebly, covering her face in shame. Tears streaked down from the gap between her fingers.
âOh, donât cry, Renee!â
There were not many things that could unsettle Leia, but both her and her brother Liam hated seeing their queen, Renee, cry.
She crouched down to hug Renee. She pretended it was fine and consoled Renee, âHey, itâs okay. My brother is a tough guy. When he finds out that you and that scumbag Stefan have reconciled, heâd be sad for one day at most. The next day, heâd be as good as new. But⦠you must be happy. If youâre truly happy, itâd be the best compensation he could ask for.â
She was not just saying that to make Renee feel less guilty. It was Liamâs intention.
Before she came, her brother had asked her to take good care of Renee. He said, no matter what choice Renee made, as long as she was happy, Leia must support Renee unconditionally.
