Chapter 889
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Xavier leaped up, swooped Leia off her feet and carried her on his shoulder, then walked unsteadily towards the villa.
Stefan and Renee were in shock. They stared at each other for a long time before they snapped back to their senses.
Renee: âYour buddy is crazy.â
Stefan: âYour bestie doesnât seem that normal either.â
Renee: âAre they entering the bridal chamber now?â
Stefan: âProbably.â
Renee: âShould we stop them?â
Stefan: âTheyâre consenting adults. Whatever happens, happens.â
And thus, Leia and Xavier spent a whole night doing adult stuff.
After Renee put the two kids to bed, she sat on the beach next to the fire with Stefan, drinking some wine.
The waves rose and fell. The two drank one glass after another. They were both feeling a bit tipsy by now, Stefan more so than Renee because his alcohol tolerance was low.
âWeâre alone. Can you tell me what your dark side is now?â
Reneeâs hair had been blown into disarray by the sea breeze. It also made her mind much clearer. In the end, she could not help but ask Stefan the question that she had been holding in all evening.
âNope!â
Stefan took a sip of wine and shifted his eyes like a child. âIf I tell you, youâll get mad and leave me. If I can, Iâll take it to the grave.â
âLet me guessâ¦â
Renee closed her eyes and pondered for a moment, then said confidently, âIf Iâm not mistaken, this dark side of yours must have something to do with Mr. Q, right?â
Stefanâs tipsy face suddenly stiffened. His eyes also went a bit cold. âTell me what you know.â
Mr. Q had always been a thorn in Stefanâs heart. It was a thorn that could sever his relationship with Renee at any moment!
He had thought about coming clean to her several times, but he could not muster the courage.
And the longer he put it off, the less courage he had. He decided to just keep it a secret forever.
âI kept asking you today how you know about Sun Island and why youâre so familiar with the terrain here, but youâve been avoiding answering my questions. That means youâre hiding somethingâ¦â
Because Renee was a bit tipsy, she let her emotions run wild. She confronted Stefan emotionally.
She wished her deduction was wrong because it was something that she could never forgive.
âKeep going.â
Stefan had actually calmed down by now.
It was a problem that he would have to face sooner or later. It might not be a bad thing to get it over with.
âDo you know the origin of Sun Island?â
With teary eyes, Renee explained, âSun Island is a private island I bought for myself before we got married. I spent a lot of time, money, and effort to make it a paradise for me and the children. I lived a carefree life here for four years, and after that⦠I pawned the island to Mr. Q.â
âThat means, except for Mr. Q and a few people that I trust, no one knows about this place, let alone be able to take control over itâ¦â
âWhat are you trying to say?â
Stefan knew that he would not be able to avoid the topic today.
