Chapter 91
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Seeing his look of despair, Renee felt like laughing, although she knew it was terrible thing to do.
Hahaha! Every dog has its day. It was rare to see the cold and arrogant iceberg wither like this. How could she easily let the chance go?
Renee lowered her eyes and tried to put on a serious expression. âYes. Accidents happen, you know.
Life is full of ups and downs. Thatâs life.â
Stefan closed his eyes and said, âGet out. I want to be alone.â
âI canât do that. This happened to you because you came to save me. Iâll definitely share this burden with you.â
Reneeâs kindness was met with Stefanâs ruthless rejection. âNo need!â
âAre you sure?â
âGet out!â
Stefanâs words were so cold they seemed to have come from the north pole. âI donât want to say the same thing twice!â
Right then, Stefanâs phone rang. It kept ringing without showing any signs of stopping, as if it would keep going as long as Stefan did not answer.
âMr. Hunt⦠Iâll get out and leave you alone now.â
Renee raised her eyes and said âkindlyâ.
The phone continued to ring. Stefanâs handsome face had gone extremely dark. Finally, he could not stand it anymore and said in a low voice, âBring me the phone!â
âWhatâs that, Mr. Hunt? I couldnât hear you very clearly.â
Renee put her hands behind her ears. She looked very mischevious.
âI said⦠bring me the phone!â
Stefan clenched his teeth and forced out one word at a time.
Of course he knew that she was doing it on purpose, but what could he do? He needed her help!
Renee smiled and said, âThatâs right. If you need help, speak up. If youâre too proud to ask for help, youâre the one who will suffer in the end.â
While saying that, she took out Stefanâs phone from his suit pocket and placed it by his car.
The caller was Elijah, Stefanâs personal assistant. The moment the call was answered, Elijah blurted out in a rush, âMr. Hunt, where are you? We havenât been able to contact you since you left the Gourmet Pavilion restaurant. Your mother has been calling me to ask me to remind you that your grandfather will be arriving in Beach City tonight. She said you must not forget to pick him up from the airport!â
Stefan frowned and said coldly, âTell the public that Iâm on vacation with my wife abroad and I wonât be making any public appearances for a while.â
âA vacation abroad? You and Miss Everheart? You twoâ¦â
âThatâs all!â
Stefan rudely interrupted Elijahâs questioning and used his eyes to signal to Renee to hang up the phone.
Renee did so obediently.
âGrandpa Hunt is returning home tonight? I wonder how his surgery went. Do you want to give him a call so that he wouldnât worry about you?â
The only person Renee felt sorry for in the divorce was Grandpa Hunt, who treated her like a granddaughter.
Heâs also the only reason why she still maintained a somewhat peaceful relationship with Stefan.
âNo need!â
Stefanâs expression was cold, but his face was filled with pain.
Heâs a useless quadriplegic now. He did not want to have any contact with the outside world.
Seeing him so depressed, Reneeâs heart softened. Maybe she had taken the joke a bit too far.
She was about to confess to him when she heard Stefanâs arrogant voice say, âFrom now one, youâll be personally taking care of me. Iâll pay you well. Youâll get at least ten times the profit of Hunts & Co. Law Firm.â
He disliked being touched by women, but if itâs Renee⦠he seemed to be fine with it.
Renee was speechless.
It really was hard for a person to change. Even after becoming a quadriplegic, heâs still ordering people around like a CEO. He thought money could solve every problem?
âWhat if I refuse?â
Renee said coldly.
