Chapter 974
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Everyone was at a loss for words. There was a long silence.
Xavierâs smile froze a little, but he eventually laughed and reached out his hand to Quinton cheerfully.
âAh, youâre an old friend! Iâve heard so much about you!â
âWeâre indeed old friends.â Quinton had a cold look in his eyes. He said, smiling, âAfter all, there were many times when I wanted to chop you up and feed you to crocodiles!â
âHahaha! Quinton, youâre such a funny man!â Xavier pointed at Quinton. âI thought Stefan had beaten you into depression. Is that why youâve been hiding in Water Dock?â
âYou must be joking, Mr. Stuart. Do I look depressed? You can try to find out.â
âIf I do, Iâll die.â
The two men were going back and forth with smiles on their faces, but it felt like they were fighting it out with their words.
Renee and Leia held each otherâs hands and retreated to the side, afraid of being accidentally injured.
âOkay. Have you had enough? Can you stop fighting? Donât block the entrance and hinder traffic.â
Renee held Adie and Abby and said to them, âMy loves, heâs the uncle Iâve mentioned before. Isnât he very dear? Call him Uncle Quinton.â
âUncle Quinton!â The two little ones greeted Quinton adorably.
âOh, Adie, Abby. I finally get to see you! Come and let me hug you!â Quinton wanted to keep fighting with Xavier, but his anger faded when he saw the two little ones. He squatted down and picked them up in excitement.
âUncle, why are you wearing a mask like Daddy Q? Do you know Daddy Q?â Adie asked Quinton curiously, trying to remove Quintonâs mask.
âHey, Adie! Donât touch my mask!â Quinton stopped him with a stern expression.
âWhy?â
âMy face was disfigured by some bad guys. I have a really big scar, so I donât want to scare you,â
Quinton explained honestly.
Little Abby said sweetly, âItâs fine, Uncle Quinton. Youâre our dearest uncle, so we wonât be scared. The scar isnât a big deal. Itâs just your unique mark â no one else has it!â
âUmmâ¦â Quinton had a heart made of stone, but Abbyâs words softened him. He had not felt this way in a long time.
âAdie, Abby. Donât be rude to Uncle Quinton. He has his reasons for wearing a mask, so donât pester him. Besides, isnât it cool to wear a mask?â Renee lectured her children sternly.
Renee knew Quintonâs face had always been a wound in his heart. It was normal for him to hide his scar, and Renee had always respected his decision.
âItâs okay. If the kids are curious, I can take it off. Weâre a family. Thereâs no need to be so secretive,â
Quinton said and took off his mask.
Quinton had a long and deep scar across his face. It was crooked and spread from the end of his left eye to the right corner of his mouth. It was as if the scar split his face in half!
Everyone was shocked but did not say much. They cared about Quintonâs self-esteem and did not want to hurt him. However, the surrounding passers-byâs responses were hurtful â they screamed in fright and retreated a few metres away.
