I've Had The Time Of My Life- Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes
I'm dedicating this chapter to Kahh_bellaw for the votes! Thank you!! :)
"Just do it." Xavier pleads. "You'll love it."
I shake my head. I definitely won't like it. I can't believe he even put me up for this.
"I'm not doing it." I say, lifting my head up slightly. "Do it yourself, I'm sure there are loads of people here willing to do it."
Xavier purses his lips in annoyance, narrowing his eyes at me. He should know by now that I'm one stubborn person and once I say no, I mean it. Why can't he just get that through his thick skull? Do I have to bash him really hard?
"Please princess." He pleads. I shake my head again.
"Ugh, fine." He says, looking up at the sky. Its a nice sunny day today so the sun makes his skin glow. From where I'm standing, I can also see his tense arm muscles. I can see how big they are and--
Whoa, what am I saying?
"Why won't you?" He asks me, looking back at me now. I hope he didn't catch me gauging at his strong muscles, I'd never live that down.
I sigh. "Why can't you just accept that I don't want to?" I dodge the question with another question. Smart, I know.
Now its his turn to sigh, rather aggravatedly might I add. Oops?
"Anna, why won't you? Its just for fun."
I feel slightly bad now, I know he wanted to do this for fun but there are so many people watching. I feel guilty for letting him down. I also noticed how he didn't call me one of his pet nicknames, instead, he called me my normal name. Is he that disappointed in me that he didn't want to call me one of those ridiculous nicknames that I hate but love at the same time?
The real reason is that I'm afraid to trust him. Of what? Let me rewind about half an hour.
After Xavier told me to finish my tea, I had a go at him for ordering me around him. For some unknown reason, I eventually gave in and drank in.
He then dragged me out of the hotel, his large hand holding my much smaller hand. The whole time he was holding my hand, I felt the sparks, the electricity between us. It was like we were two separate puzzle pieces that had finally connected together. Cliche, I know, but it felt like magic.
I pondered whether he felt the sparks too, the connection as well. Because if he didn't, I may well be imagining things.
"Where are you taking me?" I answer him, as we get swarmed with busy shoppers and workers.
Xavier manages to weave us through them strategically, his hand gripping mine tighter.
He glances over his shoulder and smirks at me. "You'll see princess."
The way he smirked at me, like he knew something horrible made my stomach knot together. And that wasn't in the good way.
Eventually, we both stopped in a busy area. My eyes wandered to the packed open spaced place, my mouth slightly open at the old yet beautiful building in front of us. There were two fountains either side of us, with tourists crowding around it. There were some birds who were trying to steal the public's food.
Finally, my eyes followed the massive piece of rock standing out of the ground to Nelson's little mini statue on the top. I wish I had my camera with me, then I could take a decent picture.
I recognized this place. Its Trafalgar Square! Xavier brought me to this beautiful, historical place.
"Great right?" Xavier leaned down and whispered in my ear. I simply nodded, my mind too absorbed by this amazing place.
I don't know why but things like this really interest me. I've always found history fascinating, along with people.
"Thank you," I mutter back, briefly looking up at Xavier to give him a smile.
His grey eyes widen at it. They stare at my smile, looking a bit dazed but in awe nonetheless. I guess he's surprised by me properly smiling at him, giving him gratitude for taking me here. He must be savoring it.
I look back at the people and notice in the middle, there is a group of people circling something. "Let's go," I say, pointing at the people. He nods as I pull him towards it.
As we get closer, I can hear the cheering of the crowd. We manage to push our way to the front of the massive circle to see two men breakdancing, doing hard and complex moves that are beyond me. Everyone is cheering loudly, laughing and smiling as the two men give each other displeasing looks. I realize they're doing a dance battle.
I watch mouth agape as one of them does a flip on the back of someone else, then moving to do a floor slide and other things.
"Oh my gosh." I gasp. Letting go of Xavier's hand to grab onto his arm. "Did you see that? That was amazing. It was--"
I don't even know what to say because I'm just so astonished. As a part-time dancer, I like to watch others dance so that I can learn new skills. Watching these two skillful men is breathtaking. It makes me slightly envious of them. They can do these amazing moves; bring joy to random people's lives. The crowd is loving it.
"I know. You're better though." He compliments me and I shake my head, still looking at the two men dancing.
"I'm nowhere near as good as them. Just look!" I point as the man does another incredible move.
Suddenly, Xavier gently grabs my chin and maneuvers it so that I'm looking at him in the eyes. "Well to me you are amazing. The best dancer I know."
My cheeks turn pink as my heart rate increases. Nobody, other than my parents, has said that to me. Its actually really satisfying and complimenting for him to say that about me, to acknowledge me.
"You haven't even seen me dance," I tell him.
Xavier shakes his head. "That's where you're wrong princess. I have."
Before I can ask him what he means by that, the music stops and another person comes into the center. I move away from Xavier's hold, the sparks disappearing.
"Thank you for that. And now we have a small competition that any of you can take part in" He announces, his brown eyes trailing around the circle. Its simple really. Is everyone aware of the film dirty dancing?" He asks, his voice loud and echoing around this busy place.
Slowly, me and many other people nod our heads, unsure of where he's going.
The man smiles. "Good. So to the song of I've Had The Time Of Our Lives, a couple will do the lift. The winner is the best pair at doing the lift. This is free and anyone can enter. The prize is £100 pounds to spend here and a photo with us."
Wow, what a competition. This should be fun to watch.
"If you want to take part, take a few steps forward, with your partner." He adds.
I watch as several pairs step forwards, many looking like couples with their happy smiles and loving looks.
"Last chance to step forwards guys." The man tells us.
And then the unexpected happens. Xavier grabs my hand and pulls me forward. Shocked, I nearly fall into him as I realize what he just did.
"Xavier." I hiss. "What are you doing?"
Xavier smirks down at me. "Proving that you're the best dancer I know."
What?
Oh god, no. He'll drop me, we can't do this.
"This won't work. Please, I don't want to do this." I beg him.
"Princess, I'm going to prove to you that you are the best. We're going to win this." He finishes just as the man reads out the rules.
Great, I'm going to go home with a huge bruise or a broken bone. Again.
