Chapter 137
Even After Death
The man laughed mockingly. âEveryone thinks that Ethan is a devoted man, that heâs always been a
gentleman. No one mentioned that he had an exâwife.â
Clenching her fingers tightly, Olivia said with a sorrowful expression, âI was just a plaything to him. He
wouldnât have allowed anyone to know about me. Last night was the anniversary of my sonâs passing. I
snuck on the ship to steal Connor away, but you beat me to the punch.â
âYour son died, but why did you want to steal their son?â
Olivia said slowly, âI wanted his son to accompany mine in death! Have you any idea how Iâve been
living this past year? Iâve never had a good nightâs sleep. Every time I close my eyes, I see my son on
the operating table. I â¦â
Olivia got emotional as she started to cry. Her tears fell onto the daggerâs blade, tracing along the blade
to the manâs hand.
Moving the dagger away, he exclaimed, âWhy are you crying? I didnât do anything to you!â
Olivia turned into a vengeful woman. She didnât care that the man beside her wasnât Ethan. She just
kept cursing and complaining about how bad of a person Ethan was.
Meanwhile, outside the cabin, Tom was chewing on a blade of grass. He had a mischievous expression
as he said to Jerry,â Hey, do you think Jack has fallen for the woman? Heâs been with her the whole
night.â
âStop talking nonsense. Heâs seen his fair share of women. He wonât fall for her so easily. I bet he
thinks sheâs suspicious. Heâs keeping an eye on her so that she doesnât escape.â
âIf she was suspicious, he wouldâve thrown her overboard last night. If he didnât want her to escape, he
couldâve tied her up. He didnât have to stay up all night and watch over her. He must have fallen for her.
Honestly, Iâve never seen such a beautiful woman before.â
âShe should have woken up. Letâs go in and take a look. Jack is probably torturing her for information. I
hope he doesnât kill her.â
They took off their masks and opened the door. What they saw stunned them.
The usually imposing Jack Stone was standing beside the bed awkwardly, trying to comfort Olivia, âYou
canât bring the dead. back with your crying.â
Olivia was not only sobbing uncontrollably, but she was also using the sleeves of Jackâs jacket to blow
her nose.
âIsnât Ethan an asshole?â
âYeah, heâs the biggest asshole ever! That bastard.â
âWhy is my life so hard?!â
Although Oliviaâs crying was a little too much, she did look pitiable against the backdrop of the runâ
down cabin.
On the other hand, Jack with his dagger in hand looked helpless in comparison.
When he saw Tom and Jerry at the door, Jackâs expression changed. He said to them coldly, âGet over
here and comfort her.â
Tom was at a loss for words. âWhy do we need to comfort the woman you made cry?â
Jerry was more gentle. He took a grassâwoven rabbit out of his pocket and placed it before Olivia.
âHere, take it. You can have this rabbit if you stop crying.â
Tom slapped him on the head, saying, âSheâs not a child. That wonât work.â
Olivia looked at the two in front of her. They were young boys, probably around the age of 12 or 13.
Their silliness could not be hidden by the masks they were wearing.
The man with a pistol was so cold before, but he comforted her as soon as she started crying. They all
seemed like good people.
But they did kidnap Connor. Why did they do it?
Olivia was still sniffling, but she was no longer crying. She looked at the man beside the bed with her
teary eyes.
He was very tall and wore a mask that covered half his face. She could only decipher his emotions
through his exposed lips.
Olivia said tentatively, âThat child stole my sonâs life. I hate him with every fiber of my being. Can you
guys hand him over to me?â
