Chapter 206
Even After Death
Marina was exacting her revenge on Olivia. She could never forget the time when Olivia pinned her
down and hit her.
She wasnât blind. She could see that Olivia wasnât feeling well. But she was taking this chance to attack
Olivia because she couldnât fight back.
She kicked Olivia as hard as she could while Olivia couldnât stand up. She wanted to vent her anger.
âStop kicking her, Marina.â Chloe reached out and tried to stop Marina.
Marina didnât usually care about what Chloe had to say. But she didnât mind at the moment. âMom,
didnât you say she loves to pretend? She deserves to be kicked.â
As she was speaking, she kicked Olivia a few more times. She even slapped Olivia in the face.
âYou bitch, stop pretending!â
Olivia wanted to argue, but she couldnât speak. She could only feel her consciousness fading slowly.
She could feel something picking her up in her daze. She could feel someone talking. But she couldnât
hear what was said.
She murmured, âHome, I want to go homeâ¦â
A manâs voice said next to her ear, âAlright, Iâll bring you home.â
She was then put on the personâs back. Her head slumped weakly onto his shoulder, and he carried
her away with steady steps.
For some reason, Olivia suddenly recalled something that happened to her as a kid. She was pushed
over by some bullies. The children were throwing pebbles and mud at her.
âYouâre a motherless bastard!â
âYour mother is shameless! I heard she ran away with another man.â
She retaliated in anger. She fought with the bullies.
But she was beaten until she had no strength left. She was hurt all over.
Jeff found her later. She held his hand and said while crying, âThey called me a motherless bastard.â
Jeff smiled gently and patted her head lightly. âSilly girl, you have me!â
âBut⦠I miss mom.â
âAlthough your mother is in another country, and you are very far apart, she misses you too.â
A glimmer of delight flashed on her face. But the glimmer quickly dimmed.
âWhy did she leave me if she misses me?â
Jeff crouched down before her and said gently, âOlivia, everyone has a right to pursue their own
happiness.
âYour mother finally found her happiness. Even if she isnât here, it doesnât mean she doesnât love you.â
âWhat about you, Dad? Will you leave me one day like Mother did?â Olivia asked while she tugged at
his sleeve.
Her expression was filled with worry. She had already lost her mother. She didnât want to lose her
father too.
Jeff knew what she was thinking immediately. âNo, I will never leave you.â
Olivia broke into a smile.
Jeff crouched down and carried her on his back. âDonât worry, Liv. I will always be with you.â
She laid on her fatherâs broad back with a faint smile. âDad, if you ever find your own happiness, Iâll
also give you my blessing.
âSilly girl, youâre my happiness.â
Ethan saw a sweet smile appear on Oliviaâs lips while she was unconscious. It was the first time he
saw such an innocent expression on her in a long time.
Olivia held his hand tightly and yelled, âDonât go! Donât go!â
Ethan said softly, âOkay, I wonât go.â
The next instant, Olivia opened her eyes and jumped into his arms. She said with a nasal voice, âDad.â
Ethan was rendered speechless.
