Chapter 269
Even After Death
Marina was stunned by what the person said. She understood what the person wanted to do.
âWhatâs the meaning of this? Didnât you tell me that you wanted to work with me?â
âWork with you? Someone like you isnât worth my time,â the person said with a smirk.
Fear began to consume Marina, and her expression paled. Her lips quivered as she said, âDonât â¦
Donât you know who I am? My husband is Ethan Miller. He wonât let you off easily if you lay a hand on
me.â
Marina felt a sudden pain on her torso. A foot was pressing down on her waist.
She had never been humiliated like this except for the time Olivia attacked her.
âIâm warning you. Youâd better be prepared to put your life on the line if you want to hurt meâ¦â
Before Marina could finish her sentence, the foot pressed down harder on her waist. She winced in
pain.
âYouâre the one who should know your place. Olivia is smarter than you. She didnât try to anger me.â
Marina finally understood that she was in the same predicament as Olivia. âSo your target was never
Olivia alone but the both of us?â
âThatâs right.â
The personâs gender couldnât be discerned from their voice. Marina could only come to two
conclusions. The person hated Olivia and herself because they stood in the way of their love.
It could also be that the person was Ethanâs enemy, and they were captured so they could use them to
threaten Ethan.
No matter what the person was after, Marina knew her chances for survival were slim.
She started to panic. She quickly dropped her arrogant act and began to beg for her life, âPlease let me
go. I donât want to die! I still have two kids. I canât leave them alone.â
Her attitude changed as she added, âKill Olivia if you have to. Sheâs Ethanâs ex-wife and the love of his
life.â
Marinaâs words struck a chord with Olivia. She never thought she would see the day when a prideful
woman like Marina would
admit Ethan loved her more.
Olivia could hear the person grunt. She could hear the disdain in their tone.
âWhat a joke. A woman whoâs about to be engaged to Ethan is admitting that sheâs not his true love?â
âItâs true! Iâm not lying. Even though weâre engaged, he doesnât love me at all.â Marina no longer cared
about her pride or appearance. She just wanted to live.
âWhy would he get engaged to you if he doesnât love you?â
âBecause⦠I got pregnant with his children by accident. He has no choice but to do so.â
Marina almost blurted out the truth. She paused for a moment, then changed her statement.
The person patted Marina on her face. âYou donât have to be so pessimistic. Ethan will be the one to
decide if you live or die.â
Marina asked in surprise, âWhat do you mean?â
âArenât you the one who loves making people choose between two options? Thatâs what weâll be doing
today. Honestly, Iâm more curious-â
The person dragged their tone, then continued, âIf the same thing happens, will Ethan make the same
choice he made back
then?â
Both Olivia and Marinaâs faces paled. They understood what the person wanted to do.
The person took their foot off Marina.
Marina knew the person wasnât joking. She broke into tears and kept begging for her life.
The person said softly, âDonât be afraid. I just want to play a game with you. A game⦠of life and
death.â
