Chapter 274
Even After Death
Marina was facing the camera. It was as if the person was trying to be considerate.
She adjusted the camera to give the audience a close-up view of Marina and Olivia.
Everyone could clearly see the state Marina and Olivia were in.
The diamonds on Marinaâs fancy dress reflected the sunlight and created a dazzling glow.
The black blindfold on her face was soaked by her tears. The makeup she spent so much time putting
on was ruined by her
tears.
Marina no longer cared about how she looked. She just wanted to live.
On the other hand, Olivia was the complete opposite.
It was impossible to tell how she felt since most of her face was covered. Her lips were pursed.
She didnât call for help from the beginning. She didnât even say a word.
Some people thought she had fainted. Others noticed the sweat on her forehead. They thought it was
weird that she sweated but didnât cry.
Olivia didnât have any makeup on, but her complexion was ashen. Even her lips were unnaturally pale.
âIsnât the ex-wife too calm? Itâs a matter of life and death. Why isnât she panicking at all?â
âIs she not scared of death?â
âMarina is calling for help because she knows thereâs a chance she will live.
âOlivia probably kept her lips sealed because she knew she would be sacrificed. If the outcome was the
same either way, it would be pointless for her to call for help.â
The on-lookers began to formulate all sorts of theories. Some felt sad for this ex-wife who had never
shown herself in public. Olivia broke her silence as the crowd was still guessing. âMom, I also want to
know who youâd pick between the two of us.â She didnât address Chloe as Mrs. Carlton this time. She
called her âmomâ.
Olivia said calmly, âI donât blame you for neglecting me since I was young. I donât blame you for leaving
so abruptly. âBecause Dad said that you werenât happy when you were with him. You didnât leave us
behind. You just went to pursue your own happiness.
s bastard.
âYou cut ties with Dad and were gone for years. I had been pushed to the ground. People called me a
moth âNone of that matters. I donât blame you. I just want to know one thing. Did you also forsake our
bond?â Olivia smiled faintly and continued, âIâm not afraid of dying. But I want to know if the mother I
waited for more than ten years ever cared about me. Even if itâs just this once.â
Everyoneâs gaze fell on Chloe.
Marina was still shouting. âMom, you said you would protect me! You said you would treat me like I was
your own even if we arenât blood-related.â
Olivia didnât care about what would happen to her. Her cancer was getting worse. She didnât know how
much longer she had to
live.
All she wanted was to see her mother once again before she died, her mother, who would love her.
Olivia was like a child abandoned in the snow. She had been battered by the wind and snow. She was
on her dying breath.
She held on to life because she was waiting for her mother to come get her.
She wanted to prove to the bullies that she wasnât a motherless bastard.
She wanted to prove to the world that she also had a mother. And that her mother was the most gentle
woman who loved her the most.
âMom, youâll pick me, right?â Olivia said as tears welled up in her eyes.
