Chapter 300
Even After Death
Kelvin stood by Ethanâs side. The latter was sweating buckets, and his expression was menacing.
Last night, he was able to sleep with the help of a sleeping pill. He was sleep-talking the whole night.
âMr. Miller, did you have a nightmare?â asked Kelvin.
âI have a bad feeling.â Ethanâs voice was hoarse because he had just woken up.
âIt must be because too many things are happening recently-â
Ethan coldly interrupted Kelvin. âImplement a strict inspection at all of the entrances, Iâm afraid Liv will
leave Aldenvine.â
âLeave? But Mr. Fordham is still missing. Heâs the only person Mrs. Miller cares for.
âWhy would she leave at this moment?â
âThere were four parties trying to take Jeff away that day. Do you think that her men could be one of
them?â
âI donât think thatâs highly possible. She doesnât have the connections to hire mercenaries.
âYou werenât there, so you didnât see how cruel they killed people off.â
Frowning, Ethan rested against the headboard.
His expression was an indifferent one. âIf sheâs still in Aldenvine, why canât we find her?â
âMr. Miller, do you mean that she has a helper?â Kelvin asked.
âThatâs possible.â Ethan lifted the blanket and got out of the bed. He headed to the bathroom.
He wondered where Olivia could possibly be. He had searched everywhere for her.
Cashless payment was prevalent nowadays. She didnât have cash, but there were no payment records
under her name.
How was she able to survive then?
Ethan was confident that she had a helper.
But who could it be?
Everly was humming. Even her boss-the exploiter-didnât seem hateful to her today.
She thought, âIt has been a while since I had a nice meal. What should I eat today?â
She heard that there was a newly opened barbeque restaurant a few blocks away.
The thought of juicy grilled meat made her salivate. She licked her lips.
When she took a turn at a corner, she saw Ethan smolding.
She didnât expect to see him here.
She retreated while praying that he didnât see her. After taking a few steps backward, she realized that
she couldnât move.
He was grabbing Everlyâs scarf.
Ethan looked right into her eyes. âLetâs have a talk.â
She wished she could refuse his suggestion by slapping his hand away. But she didnât have the nerves
to anger him.
Something felt strange to her.
Before this, whenever they met each other, he always appeared to be the arrogant hotshot
businessman.
Now, he seemed like a lonely man whose wife had run away.
He was wrapped up in loneliness and desolation.
A few minutes later, they sat opposite each other like the last time they met.
Everlyâs legs were trembling. Meanwhile, Ethan handed her the menu generously, âItâs on me. Order
whatever you want.â
She was excited when it came to food. After all, her motto was âno food, no lifeâ.
Besides, it was a rare chance for Ethan to buy her a meal!
She gladly pointed at the menu. âThis and this.â
He said, âSave the courtesy. You donât have to hold yourself in.â
As soon as he finished, he heard her adding, âI want everything besides those two.â
He was rendered speechless.
Everly was all smiles. âSorry, Mr. Miller. Courtesy was never in my dictionary.â
Ethan spread his hands as he wasnât bothered by it. He said to the waiter, âThatâs it.â
She thought, âItâs a waste that Olivia didnât rip him off before divorcing him. Heâs basically swimming in
cash!
âIf I were her, I wouldâve ripped him off and sold all of his properties!â
She grinned. âMr. Miller, I donât think youâre here to buy me a meal out of kindness.â
âHave you met Liv?â he asked coldly.
