Chapter 381
Even After Death
Back in the Miller residence, Ethan had a slightly sad look on his face. But when he saw Olivia, his
gaze instantly turned gentle.
âYouâre back.â
Olivia couldnât care about what had happened between them. She walked right up to Ethan.â What
happened to Marina?â
âWeâre not sure if sheâs alive or not.â
âIs it the work of Toxic Hive?â
âWe canât be sure about that yet. I wanted to meet up to ask her about Ms. Parker. I didnât expect
something to happen to her even before we managed to meet up. But she probably wonât die.â
Olivia asked, âWhy?â
âIf they wanted to silence her by killing her, they could just give it a little push after the accident. She
was barely alive then, and she would be considered dead because of an accident.
âThey went through the trouble to take her away, so itâs obvious that theyâre not after her life.â
Olivia frowned as well. She asked, âWhy would they do something to Marina?â
If Olivia was Chloeâs reason for getting harmed, she wondered what Marinaâs was.
Ethan rubbed between his eyebrows, exhausted. âThereâs one thing we can be sure of. Marina has
something to do with the sudden worsening of Ms. Parkerâs condition.
âThey were probably worried that Marina might tell me something when we met up. So, they planned
the accident.â
Olivia punched the back of the couch. âWho exactly are they? Why would this benefit them at
all?â
At first, she could pinpoint it on Leia. But now that these things had happened, she couldnât understand
what they were trying to do at all.
She wondered if their ultimate goal was to get rid of Ethan and everyone close to him.
Ethan had a cold and stern look on his face. âWe canât determine anything at the moment.â
âDoes Mr. Carlton know about this?â
âWe canât hide it. The car belonged to the Carltons, and the family already knew about the serious
accident. Mr. Carlton Senior and Mr. Carlton mustâve known about it by now.â
While Ethan was speaking, his phone rang. It was a call from Otto.
Even from a distance away, Olivia could hear Ottoâs furious shouts over the phone. Otto ended
the call.
Reaching out, he patted Olivia on the head. âI donât know what theyâre after. But for your
safety, you shouldnât go out anymore for the time being. I donât want anything to happen to you.â
With that, he showed Olivia what was left at the scene. Marina was taken away, but the large puddle of
blood on the backseat sent chills down Oliviaâs spine.
She could also see some blood on the shattered glass. Marina must be done for this time.
âDonât worry, itâs safe at home. Iâll ask someone to send the child here. You like Connor a lot, donât
you?â
Oliviaâs eyes lit up. She hadnât seen the child in a long time. Her eyes were shining. âReally? Can I?â
Ethan felt guilty for a moment when he saw the look in her eyes. Lowering his head, he planted a kiss
between her eyebrows. âOf course. Iâll visit the Carltons to handle the matters related to
Marina.
âDonât go out for the time being. If you have to, make sure to tell me, alright?â
Olivia replied, âOkay.â
Ethan didnât ask about Avery. He hastily left the Miller residence.
He had just left when the child arrived. Olivia hadnât seen Connor in a long time, and he was already
quite adept at walking.
When he followed her on the island, he still waddled like a penguin. When he saw Olivia, he eagerly
wriggled out of Minaâs arms.
âMommy, Mommyâ¦â
Connor ran up to Olivia. Reaching out, he grabbed Oliviaâs legs. His small face was filled with
bliss.
âConnor, I missed you so much.â Holding Connor in her arms, Olivia planted kisses all over
him.
It was only then that Olivia noticed a girl standing next to Mina. The girl was staring at Olivia
with a timid look in her eyes.
Olivia recalled that Marina had given birth to twins.
They were both Ethanâs children. Connor looked very much like their father, but Erina completely
inherited Marinaâs looks. Anyone could tell at a glance that this was Marinaâs child.
With Connor in her arms, Olivia walked up to the girl and crouched. She extended a hand to the girl
politely. But Erina slapped the back of Oliviaâs hand as hard as she could.
The slap resounded clearly in the room.
