Chapter 404
Even After Death
Ethan clearly wasnât buying it. If Olivia wanted to come to the hospital, why would she cause a
commotion by leaving the house in the middle of the night?
However, he couldnât treat her the way he always did. Leiaâs matter was fettering him with guilt.
He walked next to her, looking at her gently. âWhy did you come here in the middle of the night and
shake the bodyguards off? What if you encountered danger? Didnât I say that itâs still dangerous out
there? You should have the bodyguards follow you around wherever you go.â
Olivia wouldnât mention Averyâs matter no matter what.
Ethan didnât dare to question further because he didnât want to upset her.
She answered, âI couldnât sleep, so I came here.â
He caressed his thumb while testing the waters. âI heard that you took Averyâs car. Are you close with
him?â
âNo. Itâs because we share the same surname and I saved him once. He needed to come to the
hospital, so he picked me up while he was on the way.â She glossed over her relationship with Avery.
What about you? Did you find any leads after going to Toxic Hive?â
She stared at him. This was the last chance she was giving to him.
Ethan parted his lips, and the sight of Leiaâs scarred arms crossed his mind.
He wasnât fully prepared to settle this issue yet. At least, he couldnât think of a way not to let Olivia
down.
However, he forgot about one thing. The moment he decided to keep her in the dark was the most
hurtful thing he could do to her.
âI went to a castle. Itâs their current secret base.â
TR
Oliviaâs eyes were fixated upon him. She didnât want to miss any change of expression on his face.â
What then? What did you find?â
âI didnât want to alert them, but I managed to discover something shocking. I made copies of
documents relating to much of their secret research. Iâve asked the technical team to analyze them.â
âOther than that, did you meet anyone?â
Ethan looked into her clear eyes as a sense of foreboding settled in his stomach. It was as if she could
see through him.
Still, he thought that it was impossible. He was there with Chris. How was she able to know that?
Ethan attempted his best to wear a calm expression. Yet, she managed to catch onto the brief glint of
panic evident in his eyes.
âI did meet some people there, but theyâre not anyone important. Liv, Iâm here to take you home. You
should get some rest. That brat is throwing a tantrum at Mina because he didnât see you after waking
up.â
When he started to avert the topic, coldness crept into her heart.
âHeâs not planning to tell me the truth,â she thought to herself.
Olivia had suffered for two years. Jeff was in a coma; Jodie, that innocent child, and Belle were dead.
However, none of these outweighed the fact that Ethan only cared for Leia.
Olivia gazed at him with a calm gaze. âLet him be, then. What does Marinaâs son have to do with me?â
She was so calm that it made him anxious. âLiv, havenât you liked him all along?â
âLike?â She smirked. âSparing his life is my biggest mercy to him. I have to keep Mom company at the
hospital. You should get going.â
She then faced her back at him.
From now onward, Olivia was not going to trust Ethan anymore.
Even though she was going to die, she had to seek revenge for her family by doing the things that
Ethan didnât dare to do himself!
Olivia wanted Leia dead!
