Chapter 445
Even After Death
Ethan had heard many people say the same thing. They all wanted him to treat Olivia better.
But in the end, he still forced Olivia into her current situation.
âAlright, I understand. Sheâs wary of me, so she doesnât want me to know that sheâs pregnant.
âYou donât have to tell her anything; just take care of her.
âIf thereâs something odd about her, just tell me. I will do my best to meet her needs in the Manor of
Roses.â
Mona replied, âUnderstood, Mr. Miller. I knew that your love for Ms. Fordham was real.â
The simple-minded Mona didnât even realize that she had fully betrayed Olivia.
âYou may leave now.â
After the door of the study closed, Ethan put a hand to his forehead. He dialed Chris Atkinsâ number
with his other hand.
âMr. Miller, did something happen to your wife this late at night?â Chris was already used to it by
now.
He knew that if Ethan called him, the matter would usually concern Olivia.
Staring at the streetlights in the distance, Ethan was silent for a few seconds.
Then, he asked slowly, âWhenâs the best time to get an abortion after a woman has gotten pregnant by
accident?â
Chris had just taken a sip of wine. When he heard those words, he almost choked on the wine.
âWhat did you just say? Abortion? Is she pregnant?â
âAnswer me.â Ethanâs tone was forceful.
Chris carelessly wiped his mouth with his sleeve. âThereâll be an ultrasound scan six weeks after she
stopped getting her period.
âThatâs the best time. You can choose to use drugs or get an operation.
âIf itâs the drugs, itâs best to do it within seven weeks.
âIf you go the operation route, then itâs about 40 to 60 days after getting pregnant.â
Noticing the silence over the phone, Chris hastily added. âIs your wife the one getting pregnant? If itâs
her, I have to give you a word of advice.
âYou know her condition after she gave birth last time.
âShe lost a lot of blood, and she almost died. Her body is very weak from that experience, and itâs not
easy for her to get pregnant with a body like that.
âIf sheâs pregnant, I think you should keep the baby.
âIf not, the abortion will strain her body, and itâll be even more difficult for her to get pregnant in the
future.â
Ethanâs fingers dug into his palm. A long while later, he spoke in a low voice, âWhat if the child wasnât
mine?â
Chris had a look of disbelief on his face. He almost blurted âamazingâ out loud.
He could barely believe that Olivia had cheated on Ethan.
âAhem, thatâs not quite possible. Everyone knows that youâre the person she loves the most. How can
she⦠do something like that?â
Ethan ended the call. He didnât want to acknowledge it, either.
But that was the truth. He had never touched Olivia, but she had gotten pregnant.
He wondered if it was Colin or Avery.
At the thought of that possibility, he felt extremely furious. He wished he could just question Olivia
about it right now.
His remaining sense of reason told him not to do it.
His relationship with Olivia was risky right now. It wouldnât be able to endure another crisis.
Even if he wanted to abort the child, he wouldnât tell Olivia about it in case she did something
extreme.
Ethan combed his fingers through his dense hair.
He couldnât believe that a proud man like him would have to silently endure the betrayal of the woman
he loved.
Compared to betrayal and separation, he would rather pretend that nothing happened.
At least he could still see Olivia every day. It would be much better than seeing her smiling by someone
elseâs side.
He finally understood what it felt like to be betrayed.
He felt like someone had stabbed him in a spot he couldnât see.
There were no injuries, but he was in so much pain that he couldnât even breathe. It hurt so much.
His eyes turned red as his mind was filled with images of Olivia sleeping with some other man.
âCrash!â
He swept all the things on the desk onto the floor. A dagger fell at his feet.
Bending over, Ethan picked it up. Unsheathing the dagger, he cut his left hand.
Blood instantly stained his white shirt.
It hurt.
But he didnât understand why his heart hurt even more.
He couldnât understand why Olivia would betray him.
She was the woman he loved the most.
When Ethan came back into the room, Olivia, who was on the bed, opened her eyes and looked at him.
In the darkness, she could see Ethanâs tall figure walking near her.
She said in annoyance, âWhat is it this time?â
Before she could finish speaking, the manâs footsteps hastened.
He pulled her into his embrace.
Then, she heard his suppressed voice speaking in her ear. âLiv, it hurts so much.â
