Chapter 619
Even After Death
Ethan sat in the main seat without uttering a word.
Usually, his gaze alone was enough to scare one. But everyone was gutsy enough to tell him off today.
âEthan, youâve never let me down with your capabilities. That year, everyone agreed to the idea of
handing the company over to you. And you didnât disappoint us. Youâve been managing the company
well.
âBut how could you make such a big mistake? Itâs not only the share price, but our reputation and
company have been ruined overnight. Our ancestors worked so hard to build them up. As the
president, you should give us an answer to this.â
With a cold expression, Ethan said briefly yet confidently, âWait.â
âWait? Wait for what? Do you know how many people are waiting to see us fall to rock bottom? And
how many people are biding their time to make things harder for us so that someone else can replace
us?
âHonestly speaking, even someone who doesnât mingle around much in this industry is aware of how
important the PR department is. Itâs been a day, and what has Miller Group done? What have you done
as the president?
âYou can wait, but we canât. How about this? Since your wife is the cause of this, letâs hold a press
conference. Ask her to apologize to the victim and the public as our representative.â
As soon as Ethan heard this, he shot a cold stare at that person.
His voice was icy. âApologize? Mr. Hopp, an apology should be made by someone who has done
something wrong to convey their regret and make up for their mistake.
âMy wife stood up for the right cause, and sheâs innocent. But sheâs suffering from backlash now. This
is the first time I heard that the victim is supposed to apologize to the perpetrator.â
âForget about the truth. Is Ms. Fordham really innocent? The victim had a fight with her before passing
away. When the victim was dead, Kelvin showed up at the crime scene too. We believe that heâs
innocent, but will the others believe the same?
âEthan, people sometimes donât care about the truth. They simply want to believe what they think is
true. Call Ms. Fordham out to make an apology.â
âI agree. It wonât hurt to make an apology.â
Everyone agreed to that. When they spoke enough of it, Ethan drank some coffee to wake himself up.
After hydrating his throat, he raised his head. âHave you guys said enough?â
Despite his soft volume, the weight in his tone was significant enough to cause a wave of immediate
impact.
The noisy people hushed instantly, and pin-drop silence dawned upon the place.
Like a school principal, he swept his gaze across all of them. âInstead of talking about whether my wife
should apologize or not, I think you should give me an explanation.â
âWhat do you mean, Mr. Miller? What does this have to do with us? You and Ms. Fordham are the
cause for this.â
Ethan smirked. âWhat does this have to do with you? Had it not been for this matter, I wouldnât have
known that thereâs a rat in the senior management. Heâs benefiting from both me and my opponent.â
Everyone began exchanging glances. Some of them dropped their gazes as they didnât dare to look at
Ethan.
He slammed the table, and two people fell off their chairs immediately.
âDear shareholders, are you guys mistaken? I gathered you here not to listen to your nonsense or give
you any explanation. As long as Iâm still sitting here, there wonât be a day where youâll be in the position
to give me orders.â
Ethanâs grandfather transferred all of his shares to him after his grandmother passed away for unknown
reasons.
Ethan only took some of it under his name. He transferred some of the shares to his confidants.
Even if someone revolted and took Ethanâs shares, no one could shake him off as the core of Miller
Group.
Obviously, some of the shareholders didnât know that Ethan and his grandfather had a backup plan.
Now that the topic has come this far, Gary Miller-Ethanâs uncle-said, âItâs wrong of you to say that,
Ethan. Youâre the president. We canât interfere with how you usually manage the company.
âBut the companyâs status is shaken because of you. As the shareholders, we have the right to suggest
a vote.â
He glanced at Ethanâs expression and gulped before continuing, âYou brought this to the company and
arenât going to save it. Youâre also turning a deaf ear to our opinions.
âAs a shareholder as well as one of the Millers, I canât let you have it your way anymore. So, I propose
to dismiss you from your position as the president.â
