Chapter 719
Even After Death
âMr. Miller, chemotherapy is like fighting fire with fire. The treatment would destroy cancer cells and
regular cells indiscriminately. Mrs. Millerâs condition is very serious now. Cancer cells paired with the side
effects of chemotherapy might be the end of her â¦â
Ethan lowered his head and said hoarsely, âThat will never happen. Liv wonât die!â
Chris didnât know how to comfort Ethan. Their only option at the moment was to pray for a miracle.
After a night of emergency treatment, Oliviaâs condition stabilized, but she was still in bad shape. She
was very frail. The doctors repeatedly advised against chemotherapy because she might not be able to
take it.
Ethan looked at an unconscious Olivia. He didnât know what to do, but he had no choice but to hold off
on chemotherapy.
Suddenly, Kelvin rushed over to Ethan. âMr. Miller, bad news! I heard something had happened to Mr.
Avery.â
âWhat?â
âIt seems like his illness acted up. He was sent to a private hospital in the middle of the night. The
Fordhams are keeping him well-protected. We donât know his current situation, and weâre unable to get in
contact with him.â
The situation just kept getting worse. Even Avery was in trouble.
âWhat about Colin?â Ethan asked.
âWe still havenât located him. Donât worry, Mr. Miller. Weâll let you know as soon as we get more updates.
Chris rushed over. âMr. Miller, Mrs. Miller is awake.â
Just as Chris finished speaking, Ethan was already walking toward Oliviaâs room.
Olivia was lying in bed. Her face was pale and she was extremely frail.
Janice also came into the room.
As strong as she was, she started crying when she saw the state Olivia was in. âOlivia, Iâm so sorry. I
didnât mean to lie to you
Olivia had just regained consciousness.
The smell of chemicals filled her nostrils and the pain in her stomach was temporarily gone. She felt like
Everything that happened the night before seemed like a dream. She was still dazed.
She met Ethanâs bloodshot but concerned gaze and asked softly, âTerminal-stage cancer?â
Ethan crouched next to the bed and held her hand. He felt a lump in his throat. âYouâll get better.â
Olivia smiled weakly. âSo it wasnât a dream.â
âLiv, Iâm sorry. I â¦â Ethan wanted to explain, but Olivia withdrew her hand from Ethanâs grasp.
She said, âYou donât have to explain. Iâm not curious, nor do I want to know. Iâm tired.â
Ethan conspired with the entire family to lie to her. How truthful could his explanation be? Olivia no
longer had the energy to discern the truth from the lies.
Janice wiped her tears and changed the subject. âThatâs true. Liv, Iâll tell you everything after you get
better. I swear, no more lies. You must be hungry. You should eat something.â
Olivia didnât make a fuss and was very cooperative. âOkay.â
She was indeed hungry. It was probably because she had been feeling too much pain recently. And she
dreaded the pain.
Ethan quickly brought over the soup he had prepared. Meanwhile, Janice rolled the bed up and placed a
pillow behind Oliviaâs waist.
Ethan blew on the soup and made sure the temperature was right before feeding it to Olivia.
However, Olivia didnât open her mouth.
Ethan asked worriedly, âDo you not want soup? What do you want to eat?â
Olivia said calmly, âItâs not that I donât want soup. I just donât want you to feed me.â She stared into
Ethanâs eyes filled with worry and said slowly, âI feel disgusted by your presence.â
