Chapter 81
Even After Death
Olivia said gratefully, âThank you, Calvin.â
âDonât thank me. It was our fault anyway. If word about this spreads, our hospitalâs reputation would be
ruined.â
Olivia replied, âSomeone was targeting me, so it has nothing to do with the hospital. I wonât tell a soul. I
hope that you can keep this a secret too. Donât even tell Chris. I donât want to alert anyone.â
Calvin nodded in understanding. âLetâs put this behind us for now. I suggest that you do another
checkup. Iâll personally run the tests this time. If thereâs any problem, we can start solving it earlier too.â
Olivia smiled and said, âItâs no big deal. Donât worry.â
âOkay then. These machines are radioactive, so you shouldnât be exposed to them too frequently in
such a short period of time. If you want to have another checkup in a few months, then you can contact
me any time.â
âSure.â
Calvin smiled warmly and said, âYouâre well enough to be discharged now. Iâve already asked someone
to deal with the procedures. By the way, letâs exchange phone numbers.â
Olivia added his number to her contacts on WhatsApp.
Calvin walked her out of the hospital and handed her the discharge documents heâd prepared. Then,
they bid each other. goodbye. After Everly teased her and Calvin again, they finally left.
In the car, Olivia couldnât stop thinking about the incident.
It definitely involved an insider at the hospital. The person couldnât have executed his plan so flawlessly
unless he was familiar with the ins and outs of the place.
Nevertheless, they didnât have solid evidence. Since Calvin didnât want to make a big fuss about it for
the sake of the hospitalâs reputation, he couldnât investigate every department either.
There were more than a thousand employees at the hospital, including all the doctors, nurses,
housemen, and partâtimers combined. How was he supposed to investigate all of them?
The only clue he was left with was the surveillance footage. If it could be restored, then they would be
able to catch the person whoâd tampered with her report.
Olivia pinched the bridge of her nose, clearly exhausted.
Everly, whoâd been talking for a long time without getting an answer, couldnât stop herself from tapping
Oliviaâs shoulder.
âWhatâs the matter? Are you thinking about that douchebag again?â she asked.
Olivia recalled the furious look in Ethanâs eyes before heâd left. Their relationship was ruined, and all
she prayed for now was to have nothing to do with him ever again.
âNo,â she answered. She looked at the scenery passing by outside the window, wondering when Calvin
would find an answer.
However, just after two days of rest, she received a call from the hospital.
âMs. Fordham, Mr. Fordhamâs in critical condition. His heart rate suddenly declined, and his breathing is
getting weaker. Weâve just taken him for emergency treatment. Please come as soon as possible.â
In the hospital corridor, Olivia waited outside the operating theater anxiously while a nurse tried her
best to comfort her.
âMs. Fordham, you have to be prepared for the worst. Judging by Mr. Fordhamâs condition, he might
not..
Olivia dug her nails into her palm and said hoarsely, âI know.â
The nurse sighed and said helplessly, âI know itâs really been hard for you.â
As she looked at the young woman, who was around the same age as her own daughter, the nurse
couldnât help but feel sorry
that Olivia had to carry such a heavy weight on her shoulders at such a young age.
The nurse knew that Olivia was married, but sheâd never seen her husband around. Olivia was always
waiting out here alone. Her thin frame only increased the nurseâs concern for her.
The doors of the operating theater opened, and Olivia rushed forward at once.
