Chapter 229
I Want a Divorce
Chapter 229 Cultivating Feelings
âWhat are you looking at?â Abigailâs face held a mix of confusion and embarra*sment.
She wasnât sure if Sean had overheard her conversation with her grandmother.
âYour grandmother wants to leave the hospital again?â Sean had caught a snippet of their
conversation.
Abigail gave a small nod. She didnât intend to have a deep conversation with Sean
and was about to head back.
âLetâs take a stroll?â Sean approached her.
âNo need, I still have work to finish.â She wanted to get it done quickly and return home so her grandmo
ther wouldnât have to stay in the hospital for too long.
âYou should take a break occasionally. What if you get too tired and end up in the hospital, which would
delay your work even more?â Sean gently held Abigailâs wrist without much thought.
Abigail immediately tried to pull away.
âHelp me take a look at the scenery here and give me some design advice,â Sean said, pulling her tow
ard the exit.
âThis is something you should ask an architect, not a fashion designer!â Abigail freed herself from Sean
âs grasp.
âSometimes, professional designers may not have better ideas than crossâ
industry designers,â Sean said, pulling Abigailâs hand once again.
Abigail was dragged out by him.
They happened to run
into a couple who were taking a leisurely stroll, fanning themselves. Abigail stopped making a fuss at o
nce and followed Sean.
âTaking a walk?â The woman recognized Abigail and initiated the conversation.
Abigail nodded.
The man was engrossed in scrolling through his phone, occasionally exchanging a few words with
the woman.
Abigail awkwardly followed Sean, listening to the coupleâs casual chatter.
âDo you think the plan to turn our village into a tourist village will really work? Iâm still
counting on the compensation to buy a new house in the city,â the woman, fanning herself, asked her
husband.
âThey want to demolish all the houses in the village. But what can they do if a few holdouts refuse?â Th
e manâs tone was indifferent.
âWe should try to persuade those holdouts. Otherwise, the whole village will suffer if we donât get the co
mpensation,â the woman continued.
Sean and Abigail listened in silence, not offering any comments.
âWhat are you talking about? Why should we persuade them in a nice way?â The man grew
impatient and snapped at the woman.
The woman pursed her l*ps and fell silent.
Abigail wondered why he was so upset. He had such a bad temper. It was surprising that he could find
a wife.
At this moment, Sean suddenly took Abigailâs hand, whispering, âLetâs walk faster.â
âWhy?â Abigail lowered her voice. She suspected that Sean was deliberately showing affection in front
of others.
âJust walk faster.â Sean hastened his steps.
Abigail was pulled along, and they jogged on.
As they pa*sed by the couple, the woman murmured, âBeing young is a wonderful thing.â
There was a hint of envy in her tone.
Sean led Abigail to a lush riverside with a dense clump of bushes, where fireflies were fluttering.
âThis is quite rare,â Sean said to Abigail.
Nowadays, it was really hard to see fireflies,
Abigail took out her phone, snapped a photo, and sent it to Luna.
âIâve never seen fireflies, even though Quinn Village is in the countryside,â Abigail said to Sean after se
nding the photo.
âQuinn Village used to be a tourist village, so it was crowded. There couldnât have been fireflies,â Sean
explained.
The couple approached them.
âYou havenât seen them before?â the woman smiled and asked Abigail and Sean.
âNo.â Abigail smiled in reply.
âThere are many of them every summer, but if it becomes a tourist village, there might be fewer,â the w
oman said, still fanning herself, and walked away with her husband.
Sean and Abigail waited until they were gone. âWhat she said is actually correct. Fireflies donât like cro
wded places,â
Abigail watched the fireflies and suddenly said, âI have to go back. I just thought of a design idea.â
âYou should think about a design for me too.â Sean quickly spoke when he saw her leaving.
âYou figure out how to keep these fireflies here, whether artificially or naturally.â
Abigail hurried back.
She had designed starry skies and oceans before, but she had never thought about fireflies as she had
never seen them.
However, today, when she saw them, she felt like they were like the Milky Way, beautiful and full of vital
ity.
So, she had the idea to design a dress like that.
âYouâre right.â Sean walked beside her, thinking that her idea was really good.
Rearing fireflies were out of the question, but they could consider keeping fireflies in captivity.
But for now, it was just an idea. Dealing with the few holdouts in the village was the priority now. They d
emanded high compensation and had terrible attitudes, especially since they had elders at home. Thus
, they were particularly domineering
âWhat do you think? How should I talk to the holdouts?â Sean walked beside Abigail, looking for conver
sation.
âIâm not a negotiation expert. Donât ask me, and donât disturb me. Iâm thinking of ideas,â Abigail said to
Sean.
Sean walked up to her and tilted his head to look at her. âWhy are you so serious?â
Abigail pushed him lightly. âDonât talk! Donât interrupt my thoughts.â
Sean gave a low âohâ and suddenly reached out to pinch her cheek.
Abigail glared at him.
âI didnât say anything,â Sean immediately said.
Abigail could only shake her head in disbelief.
She furrowed her brows at him. âWhat are you doing? If you have nothing to do, think of how to deal wit
h those holdouts.â
Sean silently smirked.
Cultivating feelings with Abigail was the important thing he needed to focus on now.
