Chapter 257
I Want a Divorce
Chapter 257 Sheâs Not Even Mad
Kevin chimed in, âWhat kind of seafood is it? Tell me about it so I can bring some back to try too.â
Abigail asked Ronaldo with a smile, âWould you mind if I send him some as well?â
âWhatâs with the formality? Itâs been given to you, so itâs yours to do with as you please,â replied Ronald
o generously.
Sean hung up the phone, saying, âMr. Fernandez, please lead the way.â
After checking the room and making sure there was nothing left behind, Abigail was about to pick up he
r suitcase. However, Sean happened to be near the suitcase, so he reached out and took it before catc
hing up with Ronaldo.
After hesitating for a moment, Abigail eventually followed them in silence.
âLetâs get out through the back door with me. Considering Mr. Davidsonâs fame, thereâll be more than a
swarm of paparazzi,â said Ronaldo as he led them toward the elevator accessible only to
the hotelâs staff.
âOkay,â replied Abigail.
After the four of them entered the elevator, she no longer held her tongue. âYou shouldnât have snatche
d the phone from Mr. Davidsonâs fan today. Youâre working for a TV station, and fans are very skilled at
digging up someoneâs information. If your identity is exposed, your showâs reputation will suffer.â
Ronaldo seemed surprised that she was concerned about him. Their interactions had been nothing
else but businessâ
related pleasantries before, but todayâs incident seemed to have added a touch of friendship to their pa
rtnership. âIn that case⦠will there be any problems later?â He appeared nervous. âI thought once we c
alled the police, theyâd be in the wrong. Theyâve invaded your privacy, after all.â
âIâm just reminding you to never
do that again. The internet is chaotic nowadays, and there are countless instances of someone being q
uoted out of context. Even innocent people find it hard to prove their innocence, and netizensâ emotions
are easily stirred by false narratives. L.Moon will deal with todayâs incident, so donât worry,â explained
Abigail, rea*suring him. She had no intention of letting him get dragged into this mess.
âAlright! Thank you.â Ronaldoâs eyes were brighter than usual, holding a touch of strange emotion.
Kevin cleared his throat.
Seanâs grip tightened slightly on Abigailâs suitcase, but he said nothing in the end.
Abigail darted a look at Kevin. âDo you have a sore throat?â
âUh⦠maybe itâs the smell of sea salt in the air here in Eastbay. I think I am allergic to it,â said Kevin as
he pinched his throat.
Abigail knew he had done that on purpose, but she nonetheless offered him an out. âI have drinking wa
ter in my suitcase. Do you want to have some?â
âThatâs very thoughtful of you, Ms. Quinn, but itâs not necessary.â Kevin hurriedly refused.
As they got in Ronaldoâs car, Abigail received a call from Ericâs number. She clutched the phone and to
ok a deep breath before answering the phone call. âHi, Mr. Davidson,â she said in a polite voice laced w
ith coldness.
âHi, Ms. Quinn. Iâm Ericâs talent agent. I know the incident on the internet is the media taking things out
of context and causing damage to you and Ericâs reputations. Our company is sincerely sorry for that.
May I ask if
youâre free? Iâd like to discuss a solution with you,â explained Ericâs talent agent to her in a businesslike
tone.
Abigail sensed no sincerity in her voice; instead, she discerned the underlying meaning behind her
words. Seanâs guest is right; Ericâs phone
has indeed fallen into the hands of his talent agent. âIâm quite busy. If you want to discuss the solution,
you can do it now,â she replied flatly.
Just when Ericâs talent agent was about to speak, Abigail heard Ericâs voice coming through the phone.
âWho gave you the right to touch my phone?!â After that, the call was cut off abruptly.
Hearing her phone conversation, Sean turned to glance at her, saying, âOnce Miss Smith clarifies the si
tuation, heâll be put on the spot. I just wonder what heâll think about it.â A unilateral clarification of the sit
uation from Abigailâs side meant that Eric would have to face the consequences of his own actions. Kno
wing that she and Eric were on friendly terms, giving her an advance warning about the situation.
âHeâs in the entertainment industry. Naturally, he has his own ways to handle it,â replied Abigail. She wa
s grateful to Eric and could repay him in many ways, but she wouldnât do so by eating dirt and taking th
e blame for him.
Just then, her thoughts were interrupted by her
ringing phone. Seeing that it was another call from Ericâs number, she answered the call.
As soon as the call connected, Eric said apologetically, âJust clarify this in whatever way you want. Sinc
e itâs my fault, Iâll bear the consequences. And besides, Iâm not engaged to anyone. Has someone purp
osely spread this news to smear our reputations?â
âWho did it? Your enemies or someone else?â She had a hunch that the culprit was either related to the
Pearsons or her own family.
âI havenât found out yet. Can you give me some time?â Eric sounded even more apologetic.
âEric, itâs fine as long as you find out whoâs behind this. L.Moon will clarify the situation as necessary.
As you know, L.Moon is just starting to grow. We canât afford any scandals, or all the
hard work we put in will be in vain.â Abigailâs attitude was still the same as the night before; she
wasnât even mad at him for getting her in trouble.
