Chapter 282
I Want a Divorce
Chapter 282 Crossing the Line
After giving instructions to Cameron, Sean leaned back in his seat, intending to take a short nap. As su
ch, Cameron adjusted the air conditioning to a slightly higher temperature.
Ever since the last encounter with Abigail at the bar, Cameron noticed that Sean had
started experiencing insomnia.
Sean didnât say anything about it, but Cameron knew that he was feeling uneasy.
Before Sean could even doze off, his phone rang.
He retrieved it from his pocket and noticed that it was a call from Josh. With a cold snort, he tapped on
the answer button and shut his eyes, remaining silent.
âWhatâs going on with Chad?â Joshâs voice was cold and demanding over the phone.
With a lazy tone, Sean replied, âHeâs right there with you. Canât you just ask him?â
âSean, Iâm not asking what Chad did. Iâm asking why you sent him to my place?!â Joshâs anger could no
longer be contained as he scolded Sean. âNo matter how dissatisfied you are with Kelly, you shouldnât
be sending a middleâaged man to her room!â
âWhy would I be dissatisfied with someone I have no connection to?â Sean coldly retorted, his tone un
mistakably chilling.
Josh suddenly fell silent.
âWe should mind our own business, and if we canât, then you
might want to look into who crossed the line,â Sean uttered indifferently before raising his hand to ma*s
age his throbbing temples.
âKelly would never do anything to hurt Abigail. There must be a misunderstanding. You acted without ful
ly understanding the situation. Whatâs going to happen to Kelly in the future because of this?â Joshâs to
ne sounded calmer and more composed when he spoke.
Unable to hide his impatience, Sean clicked his tongue. âDo I need to understand your intentions to pro
tect your sister?â
Josh let out a deep breath. âI understand how enraged you are about Chad pressuring Abigail to sell th
e pearls, and Iâm angry about it too. But I asked Kelly, and she told me she didnât know him. Our family
situation is also somehow complex. If someone bullies Abigail in the future using Kellyâs name, you canâ
t handle it the same way as you did this time.â
âI have no interest in knowing the specifics of the Pearsons. As
long as the information suggests a connection with her, I will take it over. Instead of making demands, y
ouâd better hurry up and
get to the bottom of things, Mr. Pearson,â Sean suggested with a blank face before hanging up.
While driving, Cameron asked tentatively, âMr. Pearson seems to be biased after finding out that Mrs.
Graham is not his sister.â
Sean opened his eyes, but his expression was indifferent. âHis initial kindness toward Abigail was prob
ably based on the a*sumption that she was a member of the Pearsons. Now that sheâs not, his favoritis
m will naturally fade. Itâs just human nature to favor oneâs own family.â
After Josh hung up the phone, he turned around to find Kelly staring at him with reddened eyes,
He quickly walked up to her and asked out of concern, âWhatâs wrong?â
âWhy must Sean do this to me?â Her eyes were filled with teary innocence, making her appear pitiful.
âHis thoughts have always been hard to fathom, and he isnât one to get along with easily. He acts accor
ding to his own whims and wonât even think
twice about it. Itâs not surprising that he would do something like this,â Josh explained in a soothing ton
e.
Lowering her eyes, she asked, âIs he like this with everyone?â
âMore or less,â he responded. Even after three years of marriage, it wasnât until their
divorce that Abigail left a significant impact on Seanâs heart.
The manâs heart was evidently cold.
âI sec⦠Regarding Chadâs situation, how are you planning to explain it to Abigail? If she continues to m
isunderstand me, Iâll be really sad,â Kelly mumbled softly, wearing a troubled expression.
âIâll investigate the situation and clarify everything with her. Donât worry,â Josh replied gently. He realize
d that he needed to personally meet with Abigail and explain everything, especially since she had left w
ithout a word.
On the other hand, Kelly was sent to the garden by Josh.
She felt uneasy at the thought of Chad being sent over by Sean.
Even though Josh had a*sured her, she knew that Sean had acted this way for the sake of Abigail.
Last time, he had confronted the Davidsons for bothering Abigail online.
It should be the same case this time, as there was no other reason for him to confront Chad when this
matter did not involve him at all.
Downstairs, Josh had just let out a sigh when he received a call from Eric.
He answered the call, sounding somewhat weary. âAre you calling to ask about the matter online
between Chad and Abigail?â
âIs Kelly really out of the picture?â Eric knew about Chad and Abigailâs matter. Chad was in a disadvant
ageous position and wouldnât gain any benefits, but if Kelly had been involved, he would seek justice fo
r Abigail.
âDo you think itâs possible? Kelly just returned a few
days ago, and what capability does she have to manipulate someone like Chad to help her with anythin
g? Someone is likely using her name to pick on Abigail, and their intentions arenât difficult to guess,â Jo
sh responded in a cold tone.
âI just called Abigail to clarify. They mentioned that your account had once paid 657 thousand to her stu
dio. You shouldnât be unaware of what this number represents, should you?â Ericâs tone was not as frie
ndly as usual and held a hint of coldness.
âI have no idea about that!â Josh immediately defended himself.
âWho knows the details of your account and pa*sword?â Eric questioned calmly.
