Chapter 518
I Want a Divorce
Chapter 518 Heâs Already In Trouble
Scarlett apologized to Luna in the ward while Josh and Lawrence waited outside in the corridor.
Lawrence struggled to find the words and looked at Josh with pleading eyes.
âDonât even think about it. If you secretly conduct a DNA test without Abigailâs knowledge and she finds
out, she will never forgive you,â Josh muttered coldly, devoid of any warmth in
his tone.
âI just want some proof. I wonât disturb her, at least not for the time being,â Lawrence said anxiously, his
palms sweaty as he came over today.
âOld Mrs. Quinn has some misunderstandings about the Pearsons. I think the most. important thing for
you and Mom is to meet her,â Josh stated sternly.
âAbigail is at the company every day, so we wonât have the chance,â Lawrence answered, growing
increasingly desperate.
It felt like everything he did was wrong.
âIâve arranged to meet her for dinner tonight. Weâll have two hours at most. You both need to carefully
plan what you want to ask and discuss anything you need to apologize for,â Josh announced, firmly
holding the upper hand against the usually authoritative Lawrence.
âOkay. Iâll remember that,â Lawrence nodded.
Before this, their son had advised them not to favor their daughter while bullying Abigail, but they didnât
listen.
Now, they knelt before him, heeding his words.
The two men quickly settled their affairs.
Meanwhile, Scarlett had a more challenging task.
Luna wasnât willing to give Scarlett the time of day, and the latter faced repeated rejections. She felt
rather wronged.
âDonât feel wronged. I may not be able to have children, so you can still change your mind at this point,â
Luna revealed all her shortcomings to Scarlett.
âThere wonât be any children, then. Youâll get better, too. The doctors here are inadequate. We will find
doctors abroad to ensure your complete recovery and have no regrets,â Scarlett tried to appease her.
III
She had acted arrogantly before this, but now she appeared pitiful.
Luna lay on the bed, squinted her eyes, and gazed at Scarlett for a long while before she finally spoke.
âAbigail wonât accept you, so donât take matters into your own hands by doing. any DNA tesis. It will
only make her angrier. If you had just been reasonable before, would you have created this mess that
weâre in now?â
Scarlett looked at Luna, her eyes filled with sorrow. âWho knew that Kelly was a fake⦠Iâm angry too.
Iâm a victim. Iâve put so much effort into this, and the result is that sheâs a fraud!â
The older woman clenched her fists in frustration as she said this.
âAnd you even slapped her.â Luna continued.
Scarlett deflated like a balloon upon hearing that.
Luna had narrowly escaped death, and her perspective on life had changed. If it were in the past, she
would have already started scolding Scarlett.
In the end, two individuals left the hospital room, sighing in unison.
âWeâre just one step away from doing the test⦠but that one step is impossible!â Scarlett said to
Lawrence in a despondent tone.
âWeâll meet Old Mrs. Quinn tonight,â Lawrence commented.
Scarlett nodded quickly. âShe was the one who found Abigail, so she must know the whole story!â
That evening, Josh called Abigail to meet at the hospital for a dinner gathering.
Scarlett and Lawrence visited L.Moon again.
As soon as Analise saw them, she wore a stern expression and remained silent.
âLast time, we were in the wrong, and I apologize to you, Old Mrs. Quinn,â Lawrence bowed. deeply,
showing great humility.
âYou donât have to. Iâm not worthy of it! Leave now, or Iâll call the police!â Analise spoke in a cold tone.
âOld Mrs. Quinn, last time we were too hasty, and it was for our daughterâs sake. If it had been Abigail,
would you still be angry?â Lawrence asked Analise, distressed.
âIn this world, there are no what-ifs. Abigail isnât your child, so you can forget about it. Leave!â She
dismissed them, wielding a broom to drive them away.
III
The two were promptly chased out of the office, looking utterly disheveled.
Scarlettâs eyes welled up with tears. âWe were doing it for our daughter. Why did it have to be this
way?â
âTake it slow. We made a mistake, and no matter how difficult the other party is, itâs something we
should bear,â Lawrence stated.
They had been so close to uncovering the truth once, but they gave up and chose the
way out.
This time, they wouldnât give up.
easy
âI just want our daughter back. Even if she makes me kneel and apologize. Iâm willing to do it, Scarlettâs
tears rolled down her cheeks.
Lawrence felt the same way, but they hadnât even had the chance to kneel and apologize.
The two of them returned home feeling defeated, and they were both absent-minded during dinner.
When Josh finally arrived, Lawrence and Scarlett immediately asked him, âYou mentioned that Old Mrs.
Quinn had a lot of resentment toward you, right?â
âYes,â Josh nodded. He remembered the first time he visited Analise, she disliked him while. showing
anger and annoyance.
*I think there must be some misunderstanding there,â Lawrence analyzed, stroking his chin.
âShe probably thinks that we intentionally abandoned Abigail and now want her to return only for an
alliance with the Davidson Family. She cares for Abigail like the apple of her eye,â Josh reminded
Lawrence and Scarlett to respect Analise.
âWe need to clear up this misunderstanding,â Lawrence said in a hushed tone. âIâve noted what you
said. Donât worry. I will proceed slowly and strive to make Old Mrs. Quinn genuinely accept us.â
Josh nodded with satisfaction. âWhether we can successfully find my sister this time depends on you. I
will take good care of my girlfriend.â
Speaking of Luna, Lawrence suddenly remembered something.
âCome to think of it, while Sean saved Luna, he didnât return. Heâs likely in trouble. Iâve heard that
several of his key subordinates have gone abroad.â
