Chapter 5

The Mermaid Queen [GxG]

Victoria's POV

I dried her off using my natural powers and left her on the platform, asleep. Hoping she would think it was a dream, I left.

Making the decision that it would be best in the kingdom's interest to monitor her, I will go back to her house daily.

It may or may not be slightly because I feel a pull towards her. When she was in my arms, I felt complete, like she was everything I needed. I don't know what this means, but I want to explore it more.

I swim back to my castle. The castle is on a large island in the middle of the ocean. When I get to shallow waters, I shift my tail back into legs and put on the shirt and shorts I left here earlier.

I'm in my spot, a place where only I am allowed. It is right by my room, allowing me easy access in and out.

The guards wave to me as I pass them. They are patrolling around the castle, making sure no unwanted visitors get in.

I arrive at my room and flop down on my red and gold silk sheets. It's late. The sun had set when I took care of that girl. I try to decide whether I should call in my trusted advisor, but decide against it. Tonight was long, I'll just inform her of what happened tomorrow.

With that, I fell asleep, dreaming of a girl with platinum blonde hair.

The next morning, I make my way back to the girl's house. I swim the many miles quickly, my tail being the strongest, making me the fastest.

I get there and I look at the girl who is sitting on the platform. Admiring her beauty, I keep my distance. My dark brown hair is floating in the water, creating movement with the waves.

Having good hearing, I hear the girl talk to herself. "Adalee, why did you fall asleep here last night. You're so stupid. My punishment wasn't nearly enough."

Punishment? Looking closer at her, I notice her slender nose is slightly crooked and there is a big bruise forming on her cheek.

Who did this to her?

I feel awful, the feeling of indirectly causing her pain is indescribable. It was my fault she was asleep.

Knowing she needs to get her nose fixed, I swim until I'm under her and grab a hold of her legs. She tries to jerk out of my hold, but my grip is tight.

Pulling on her legs, I drag her under the sea. I give her the ability to breathe underwater and hold the sides of her face, making her look at me.

She looks oddly calm, maybe thinking she's dreaming again. I send through her mind, "I have to fix your nose."

Not saying anything, she just stares at me. I put my hands on her nose and move it quickly, pushing the bone back into place.

She lets out a silent scream under the water, bubbles rising to the surface.

Not knowing how to mind link me back, she tries to talk underwater, "Thank you."

It sounds muffled, but I understood. I just nod my head, giving her a small smile. This causes her face to light up, her eyes holding a childish light in them. Her smile makes mine wider, just looking at her lights my face up.

Her smile falling, her face grows confused. "Are you real?" She asks with uncertainty.

Still smiling, I give her a vague answer, "I'm whatever you want me to be."

And with that, I put my hands on the side of her face, making her go to sleep.
