His Unwanted Desire
*Disclaimer: The leads call each other by their surname in a very formal way through out the story until the last chapter so please bear with it. Thank you! And I love you guys!
3 months later
Lara's P.O.V. :
"Okay, okay Lara, you need to breath... Can you do that for me??" Ash asked who is one of my two bridesmaids today
Only ten minutes remained before my wedding began; I was nervous just like the first time I went on an official date with him.
"I can breathe," I said to her, "I just need my mother's butterfly pendant and ring to calm down." today I wasn't wearing them because I had another pendant on which went with the wedding gown
My two friends looked at me wide-eyed. "Uh, Lara... about that."
(Thirty seconds later)
"What do you mean you can't find my pendent! I can't get married without it. It's my lucky charm. No way."
"Look, Lara" Angie, said, "Everyone's here and has a program. It's about to start. Mr. Adams is waiting at the alter and he's just as nervous as you. Do you really want to not marry the love of your life over the pendent? We can find it after your wedding is over. Now, you don't wanna ruin your wedding, right?"
I nodded my head.
"Good, because if you don't marry him, I know plenty of women who would." Ash said
I glared at her which made her laugh holding her stomach.
"Mommyyyyy...I found your butterfly pendent." Cara came running towards me holding my box in which I had put the pendent and the ring.
I knelt down when she reached near me.
"Thanks a lot, baby. But where did you find it?" I asked.
"Daddy found it on your bed in your room. He said you must fre-eak out if you don't find these so he told me to return it to you." Cara said trying to memorize the lines told to her by Mr. Adams.
I laughed at that and kissed both her cheeks.
It's time
"Now I can always be with you and daddy. We will have a family. Big family!" she said excitedly clapping her hands as I put her down.
This made my heart heavy. I have been worried since last few months thinking about what would happen to Cara after I get married. She is my sister and not my daughter. She is my responsibility and I will do it with all my heart. But...will Mr. Adams and his family accept her as a family? I know how much they love and adore Cara but accepting and taking responsibility of her as a family member is a big deal. Will they accept her as a family?
I will talk to him about this after the wedding is over. He will surely understand my concern. He is really kind and considers my family as his. After I had to miss my flight that day because of the whole proposal and Cameron's delivery, he booked another flight tickets for Cara, him and me. We flew to my grandparents' place and visited them. He also asked their permission to marry me. My grandparents happily accepted our relationship and gave their blessings.
They flew here few days ago to attend our wedding. And since dad is no longer here to walk me down the aisle, grandpa took the responsibility to do that. I thought and cleared my mind.
"Let's go, Lara. It's time to take you to your wedding venue." Angie said
I nodded my head. My bridesmaid helped me with my veil and walked me out of the dressing room.

Finally, the minister came out and asked everyone to stand. He was a real minister unlike the last time. It was my turn to make an entry! All eyes would soon be on me. Cara, who was my flower girl lined the path with white rose petals as the music started. I only took two steps out before I was greeted by my grandpa. He took my hands with tears in his eyes and smile on his face and escorted me down the aisle, which seemed longer than before. He became my strength; without him I would faint. The guests looked at me, taking pictures of my dress, waving at me, smiling- one thing was for sure, though... no one made a sound. Up ahead I saw him, Shane. My future husband, the love of my life, my everything. He stood taller, his shoulders back and his eyes on me. If I wasn't mistaken I could have sworn tears filled his eyes. One of his best men, Jake patted on his back to give me support.
He then controlled his tears from spilling and smiled looking at me. I smiled back.
Unlike him, my nerves kicked in ten-fold. The attention felt like too much for me to handle. Good thing I only had ten more steps to go.
At the end of the aisle my grandpa hugged me, said "I 'm proud of you" and then presented me to my groom. He placed my hand in Shane's and smiled. As a couple, Shane and I stood in front of the priest.
Before my father walked away, he patted Shane on the shoulder. That was his way of welcoming him into the family. Standing next to my love felt overwhelming.
"You look breathtakingly beautiful, baby. Thank you for making me the luckiest man. If you hadn't said yes that day, I would have surely cried." Shane said which made me laugh shying
I could see his parents, Cameron and her husband in the front row. They were really happy and excited, especially mom who seemed to be on cloud nine right now. Mr. Chang and aunt Suzie were also present today to give us their blessings. Aunt Suzie was looking at us like a proud mother and had a hint of tear in her eyes. She's so pure.
Cara, Jonah and Josh stood just in front of the alter. They were excitedly as well.
Ash and Angie stood behind me and the Dorrmann brothers stood behind Shane.
Was this really happening? Will I soon be Mrs. Adams? It feels so unreal.
The minister said to guests, "You can now be seated". Our friends and families followed his request
"I will start the ceremonial now.." The minister was cut off by Shane.
"Sir, I have one important task to do before we start the wedding vows." he said which made me look at him in confusion.
I looked at him confusedly.
He turned to Ian who handed him a file. Shane turned towards me and handed me that file,
"What is this?" I asked confusedly
"Look in it yourself." He said with a gentle warm smile.
I opened the file and the moment it registered in my mind what the file was about, I couldn't control my tears.
Shane wiped off the tears gently from my face.
I looked at him with teary eyes.
"I would like to adopt Cara and become her daddy officially. I hope you have no problem with that." he said pushing the loose strand of hair behind my ear
"Thank you, thank you so so much." I said as I hugged him.
He hugged me back and gently patted on my back to stop me from crying.
"Now let's get married. I want you to become her mommy officially, baby." he said as we parted from the hug.
I looked at our families, friends and Cara. everyone seemed to know about his adoption decision already as everyone were smiling knowingly.
"Sir, you may continue the wedding vows now. I am eager to see my son's real wedding unlike the fake one last time." mom said which made us laugh
"Dearly beloved," he began, "we are gathered here this evening to witness this man and woman join together in holy matrimony."
He said the speech and afterward we exchanged vows, tears filling both our eyes.
Josh, the ring bearer came forward and presented the rings. I placed Shane's ring on first, then he placed on mine.
"By the power vested in me by the state of New York, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.
Shane pulled me by my waist towards him, leaned in and kissed me, softly like he's never done it before. Everyone cheered for us, however I barely noticed; my full attention rested on my husband.
Soon after we did the whole candle symbolizing. And we left the stage. Everyone came, hugged and congratulated us.
"Ready to start a new life with me, Mrs. Lara Adams?" Shane asked
"Absolutely, honey." I replied as I pecked him on his lips.
Everyone around us cheered.
