Chapter 10
Love Spell
Marco's pov (after dream)
I rolled out of my bed, and my dream came back to me. Kyle's dead father had supposedly visited me in a dream to apologize for kyle's bullying me in the past, and had warned me about using the curse against him. Also he said something weird about the collar. I shook it off, getting up and getting dressed. I changed into a black t shirt with a thin grey sweatshirt over it. I combed my hair only doing little to calm it's dark curly mess. After brushing my teeth I rushed downstairs. Not seeing my mom in the living room or kitchen I snuck around looking for her. I saw her in her office with the stressed look she wears all the time when she thinks I'm not looking. I jump up when I get an Idea, and rush into the kitchen I'm a lousy cook but I can make a simple breakfast. I make her some toast and a bowl of lucky charms cereal. My mother loves to dip her buttered toast into a bowl of cereal. I think it's disgusting but hey, at least she doesn't put ketchup on mac and cheese or something.I cut the two pieces of toast into four and arrange them on a plate with the bowl of cereal. I sneak into the office, and place the plate and bowl of her desk, startling her slightly.
"You can't work on an empty stomach mom." I said smiling at her. She smiled a soft exhausted smile at me. "DId I ever tell you how lucky I am to have such a wonderful son?" She asked. I smiled. "I know you just can't thank me enough." I laughed joking around with her like always. She laughed too. "Now you need to go get ready Marco." She said using her stern motherly voice. "If you're late for school I will be very angry. " She scolded. "I know, I know. I love you mom." I said before leaving to get my school bag. I packed up my binder and text book, before heading out the door. I pull out my cell phone and text Lexi.
M- hey, can you come pick me up?
L- Yeah! OMG was Kyle Tenor on your bed in your room this weekend!?
M- What? Psh. no. Never! What are you thinking!
L- He was! Yes!!! My otp shall become cannon!
M- How the hell did you find out?
L- A little witch who's staying at my house told me she cursed him to fall in love with you
I groaned at the information. Finally I saw her red car pull up, looking dirty and unwashed as usual. I hopped into the passenger seat and looked into the mirror on instinct to see the little devil herself sitting in the back. "AH!" I was scared and jumped in my seat. Lexi and the little girl laughed. "What the hell is she doing in here Lexi? You can't exactly bring her to your classes or leave her in the car." Lexi just grinned her evil grin. "So... Kyle tenor is in love with my baby" She said with smug knowingness in her voice. I couldn't help but laugh at her antics. "Helplessly! He even stuttered yesterday! And did you hear about the collar?" I asked. She nodded her head. I was gay, and everyone knew it, I mean except Kyle. He weirdly had never noticed, you'd think with his 4.0 gpa he'd be a little more observant. I would know if he knew, because he would have thrown it right back at me while beating the crap out of me.
"He is attractive, but I promised his dead dad in a dream I wouldn't use this against him." I sighed. Lexi burst out laughing. "Bullcrap I tried 168 different resurrection spells and couldn't wake a damned dead earthworm spirit. There is absolutely no way you talked to a dead person." I looked at her seriously. "First of all why the hell were you trying to talk to a dead earth worm, and second of all I don't know what else it could've been I had never seen him before in my life."
We pulled up outside of the school and Lexi continued the conversation as she walked around back and opened the door for the little girl who's name I was still unaware of. "If you did We have to go over your exact bedtime schedule and position you fell asleep in, oh! And your toothbrush!" She squealed excitedly. "What, the hell would I let you do that for?" "Because sometimes DNA and limb placements can create portals in witchcraft, like how we cut ourselves and use blood for spells! I am assuming that saliva can have the same effect." I nod my head feeling very uncomfortable with my best friend at the moment.
Suddenly I felt hungry eyes on me. "Omg. you weren't kidding Kyles totally staring at you!" She squealed in a whisper. I looked over my shoulder only to make eye contact with Kyle. His eyes widened before he looked away trying to hide his blush with my black scarf from the day before. He was wearing a pair of blue skinny jeans, and a white t- shirt. He also was wearing my black scarf. I watched the scene as his friends walked up to him and began talking to him. I had to admit he was attractive. Gorgeous blond hair, and shiny green eyes. He was tan and fit, the exact opposite than me. Suddenly one of them reached for his scarf! I gasped to myself, getting ready to run if his friends found out. That's not what happened though, Kyle's eyes visibly darkened and he pulled away protecting the scarf. I couldn't see if he had said something because my scarf covered his mouth. I could clearly see though that all of his friends were terrified. "Hey is that your scarf?" Lexi asked me. I looked over at her and nodded. "SO that's why he's so protective of it!" She squealed wiping a little blood from her nose. I groaned face palming. "No, idiot he could care less if it came from me. He just doesn't want people to see the collar!" Our conversation ended as we continued to observe the scene unfolding in front of us. As quickly as it appeared Kyle's dark aura had disappeared and he walked away from his friends.
It took me a couple seconds to realize he was coming towards me. I looked at Lexi and decided to leave her behind, Hey everyman for himself sometimes!
I bolted inside the school and glanced back only to see a very dismayed looking Kyle standing all alone looking after me. As much guilt as I felt at that moment I wasn't ready to face him at school.
Unlike other times when Kyle used to chase me (to beat me up) this time he didn't follow me all the way to my locker on the other side of the school, which brought me joy, because for the first time in a long time I wouldn't be late. My first classes were boring as usual and nothing happened until the lunch bell rang. I got up from my seat, and walked out the door like everyone else only to be greeted with a sad looking Lexi. the little girl wasn't by her side as expected, I didn't feel like now was the time to ask about her. My expression hardens knowing it must be serious whatever she wants to tell me. I walk over to her and pull her into a corner. "What's wrong?" I ask cautiously. Lexi was a very strong girl but whenever she did get upset she was frail like a child and had to be dealt with carefully. "It's not me I'm worried about. Kyle hasn't been himself all day and I know it's the spell, but really I think he needs you." She rubs her hand anxiously.
I rush to lunch room being discreet as possible. I peak around the corner of the lunch room and look at the lunch table where Kyle usually sits. I was weirded out to see the perfectly normal scene. Kyle had his emotional mask on the revealed nothing as his friends joke around like the idiots they were. It wasn't until I looked closer until I noticed the signs. He was looking slightly down instead of towards the window, and his food had yet to be touched. His eyes were watery and slightly red as if he was about to cry or already had been, but these signs seemed to go unnoticed by everyone. He finally offers his untouched food to one of the idiots surrounding him and gets up walking towards the exit, or in other words walking towards ME! I quickly search for a hiding place, or escape and finding none, I pull out my phone and attempt to look like I was just hanging around outside of the lunch room. I am super uncomfortable, and disappointed for being found out. When he walks out and sees me his eyes don't widen this time. A single tear out of the many clouding up his beautiful emerald irises falls down his cheek. He doesn't even seem to notice as he continues his path down the hall not even wiping his tear.
Feeling absolutely awful I'm about to chase after him when a teacher sees me loitering in the hall. "Get to lunch, boy!" She calls in her authoritative teacher voice. Avoiding confrontation, I take evasive action, and scamper into the lunch room.
