CHAPTER 19- A CRY IN THE NIGHT

BRUTAL MINDS (A DARK ROMANCE)

8:00pm

The cocktail party was held the next two nights in the other side of the island, far from the beach houses. It was to last all night so it would be better not to disturb the other guests that wouldn't be attending.

Allison sat under a shade a few feet away from the main party, the whole bubbly crowd didn't excite her anymore. Rather she was busy thinking about her father. The Doctor had called earlier that day, presenting her the bill to a new oxygen tank that her father urgently needed.

A tear dropped down her eyes but she was quick to wipe it off. Her life was perfect until...just then a sudden image of Hades flashed across her eyes at that moment. Allison refused to analyze, but it put a dark frown upon her face

"Here, try this..."

Glancing up, she found Ron standing beside her holding a tall glass full of pinkish liquid decorated with just about everything, from a selection of tropical fruit pieces to several fancy cocktail sticks and straws.

What's in it? She asked, smiling wearily.

ATS cocktail. He grinned

Meaning? She asked, taking the glass from him and placing one of the fruits inside her mouth, chewing on it.

A Thousand Miles, Edgar says it's supposed to taste like a thousand miles into paradise or something.

A thousand miles... How convenient! She frowned again.

Maybe or maybe I can see from a thousand miles what you don't see.

Does everything have to revolve around that sick psycho?

Have a sip...His voice brought her back to reality....might as well help take that scowl you've been wearing all evening off your face.

All evening? Urgh! Had her bad mood been that apparent? Allison took a sip and then another.

What do you think?

Not bad. A little of sweet and sour. She commented.

Come you should join the party, the dance is just about to begin.

Allison got up to her feet, taking his hand as he led her inside to the rest of the crowd.

You should finish that up and come to the dance floor, the first dance should be in your honor sweet ruby. He said, flashing a wide grin.

She nodded, smiling as she gulped everything down at once, after that, she remembered very little, not the glass being rescued from her clumsy fingers as she tried to set it on a nearby counter before Ron ushered her towards the others on the floor. Another two, three,  hours of partying and dancing and screaming in excitement before Allison started to puke. She had had enough.

Is our sweet ruby growing tired? Vincent walked up to the lounge she was laying down on.

Allison nodded, sheepishly.

Come on, time to go home. Edgar approached the two along with Ron.

B...but the party's not over yet, she yawned.

Ron let out a laugh. She's wasted as it is. You two keep the crowd going, I'll take her back to the other side. He said, letting a wink to the other two and they immediately understood.

Where are we going..? Allison slurred as Ron sat her in the back seat.

Not to worry sweet ruby, you'll be fine okay?

She nodded, unaware of anything that was going on.

Is this where I'll stay from now on?"

Ten year old Hades asked.

Mhmm. You're my son now and I, your father. Come let me show you to your bedroom.

I get to have my own?

You've never had one?

Little Hades shrugged. Back in the orphanage, we share everything.

And do you miss the orphanage?

Not one bit.

That's my boy! Henry grinned. Well just so you'd know, right here, you get to own every of your own possession.

Really?

Even a company.

Huh?

Not to worry for now. Come on, let's go upstairs.

Hades came shooting out of his deep sleep to the sound of a woman's shrill cry. He sat up on his bed, dazed and looking around. He listened for a few moments, uncertain. What if the cry was from his dream? Right now He couldn't even remember what he had been dreaming about.

Right then, the scream came again and He agilely got out of bed and grabbed a black shirt from the mini wardrobe and wore them on in a hurry, he didn't even have the time to do all the buttons, leaving his chest bare. He moved across the small sitting room and opened the door.

He was met with nothing but pitch-black and graveyard-quiet outside. Nothing stirred, even the ocean was struggling to make a sound as it lapped the shore. He was further confused. He was certain he heard someone cry out. Then it came again and this time it was certain that it was from the beach house a few feet away from his. Wait! That was Allison's place. Allison was the screamer! As he approached further, He saw a shadowy figure sneak across in a flash.

"Hey..! What's going on there?!"He yelled.

It was dark and He couldn't see who it was but Hades had his suspicions especially when the person started to make a run for it. People don't just run unless they had constituted a menace. Giving no further thought, He chased this person down the back of the beach house until the Man speedily got into his car and drove off at a high speed.

"Damn It!"

Hades cussed underneath his breath and then it suddenly came back to him.

"Allison! Oh No!"

Hades' skin began to crawl with the most unsettling feeling that something had gone terribly wrong here. Wasting not another second, He spun around and stepped onto her veranda as he walked on the cool tiled floors.

Allison's beach house was no doubt the biggest and most furnished which was no big deal since she was afterall, the owner of the resort but something struck him when he came to the door, it was swinging wide on it's hinges and it was pitch black inside. He felt uncomfortable as he swam through complete darkness inside.

Allison...? He called out but received no answer.

He was standing in the sitting room, making his way through the soft-cushioned cane furniture;  and then he saw a faint light emitting from half closed door. He stretched his hand and widened the opening enough for him to get a clear view of the bedroom although it was dim lit with a faint lamp on the table.

However, the scene before him, brought him to a dead standstill . The room was a disastrous mess!  Broken lamps, shards of glass, scattered clothes, signs of struggle...but what caught his throat the most was Allison kneeling in the middle of all this mess like a discarded piece of debris.

She sobbed as she desperately swept both her hands across the floor in an attempt to feel her way around. Then he realized! Her glasses! Gone! She was good as blind without them. He felt a terrible crack in his chest and a gnawing feeling in his stomach. The scheming bastard took her glasses away, leaving her completely vulnerable.

"God in Heaven!" He exclaimed, breathlessly. Feeling his stomach tightening at the possibility of what went on here.

Wh...who's there? Came her croaked voice. Who is it? Oh please, please don't hurt me please...she further sobbed.

Taking a few steps forward He came to squat down in front of her.

He's gone, don't worry. He said.

Hades?

With the way she was squinting and blinking, He could tell she couldn't see him properly. It only made him furious towards whoever did this. She wrapped her slender arms around herself, frightened. He could see the tattered remains of her red party dress on the floor.

I..I can't see, she whimpered, tears still flowing. My glasses...I don't...I can't find them...He...He threw them away. She sobbed.

His jaw clenched in anger and for a moment He was glad she wasn't able to see him in such a worked up state.

They should still be around here somewhere, she stuttered.

I'll look.

Hades got to his feet, reaching for the faint lamp and then He saw the specs on top of a heap of clothes by the bathroom door. It must have been tossed there during the struggle. The scenes flashing across his mind was only further aggravating him. He led her to the bed and sat her on it.

Here...He handed it to her and she hurriedly put them on. Thank goodness. Her eyes seemed to say. He crouched down in front of her.

You're hurt. What happened here Allison?

Go away! She said, suddenly realizing this Man was her sworn enemy and she hated the fact that He had to see her in such a defeated state.

Talk to me Allison.

Not able to hold back her tears, she burst out crying.

You know I fucking hate you right?! She chocked out. I really really hate you for coming in here like this. I hate you!

Hades understood. No one wanted their enemy seeing them in a vulnerable state. He would react the same if He were in her tiny little shoes.

I heard a scream and I came here to investigate.

Whatever just get out! She yelled.

Allison...

Leave me the hell alone!

Fuck It Allison! Will you tell me what went on here or do I have to force it out of....His threats drowned out by the sound of her crying.

Darn it! Why did He have to yell back?.....goddamn it, you're shaking so badly, you look like you're going to collapse.

Go away! She said, getting up and walking away from him. Hades also got to his feet.

His eyes finally feel on a lacy black bra, hanging on the side of the wooden bed board. His skin began to crawl once again in response to the horror that was painting itself in his head, well usually horror excited him but this was the bad kind of horror not the good kind that involved the thrill of his enemies weeping at his feet as he sawed them in half. The evidence of this one, suggested rape and He wasn't sure how befitting that asshole's death would be if this turned out to be true.

What happened here Allison?

What the hell do you think? She shot back on a bitter choke. I'm sure you think I deserve it.

What? No!

Liar! She sobbed.

Hades sighed. Ofcourse, Ofcourse I warned you not to go didn't I?

So you do think, I deserve this!

No I don't and no one of sane mind would.

She sat back down on the bed, her legs were wobbly and she felt they would soon give way if she kept standing.

Hades brought the lamp closer to the bed, setting it down on the table as He squat down in front of her again. With the light beaming close, he could now see her clearly. His jaw became a solid piece of rock as He noticed a few other things. Bruise marks on her neck, her lips were slightly swollen and her bright blue eyes were turning black indicating the effect of some kind of chemical. She was shivering so badly. Hades picked up the sheet and threw it over her shoulders.

I'm drunk...she pathetically admitted.

No you're not.

You don't know that!

I can smell it. If you had alcohol I would have perceived it on your breath.

She sniffed. It was all my fault!

No it's not. Just Calm down and tell me what happened.

I...I can't feel my legs, I don't even know how I got here. She wiped her teary eyes with the sheet. We were all at the cocktail party, I had this pink juice and then....she gasped, suddenly realizing.

Your mind went blank. Hades competed the sentence, a thrust of bloody anger shot through him. Your drink was spiked.

She nodded. He brought me home, I remember being touched...I tried to fight out, I screamed a few times, my glasses were tossed away....her voice trailed off, she was choking on her own tears.

He's a bloody bastard! Hades said, upset. He held her shoulders peering into her eyes.

He didn't have his way, did he?

Allison swayed her head. No.

Thank goodness... He thought, but that didn't mean He wasn't going to make the son of a bitch pay.

Who was it?

She hesitated at first.

Tell me who it was.

Ron...I don't know his last name.

Was He one of  those three I saw you with the other day?

Yes, the one with the...

No need for a description, all three of them were in this together and while I'll be sure to make them regret ever plotting to hurt my own, I'll be informing the police in the mean time.

What? No! No no please no...and without any warning she slid on the ground between his spread knees and landed heavily in his chest, almost knocking him over in the process. She began sobbing, brokenly into his shoulder.
