CHAPTER 6- HIS INNER DEVIL
BRUTAL MINDS (A DARK ROMANCE)
Hades could be seen coming out from the bathroom. He was wiping his face after successfully washing off the blood stains from it. It was just him in the gigantic Mansion with his guards and a few male servants, indicating He didn't want female personalities around him. The room was dimly lit, with the entire Mansion having a theme of black and gold interiors. Hades took a seat behind his desk, flipping a certain file in front of him.
"Unto The Next Debtor...."
He muttered, crossing out the name "Felix Edgar" before moving his sharp eyes from one name to the other. "Edward Doreen"
"Humphh..." He scoffed. He could remember the day, this Man rushed in on his knees.
"Please Mr Lenshaw, I've been told you're the only one who can help me."
"What Am I? A Philanthropist?" Hades frowned.
"Please my world is crumbling, if you could only spare me a few...."
"I Can't Help You Old Man, Now Get Out!"
"I'm willing to do anything. Anything at all. Please Mr Lenshaw."
"Anything?" He quirked an eyebrow.
"Yes yes, absolutely anything."
"You Don't Wanna Strike A Deal With Me Doreen. I Have Zero Tolerance For Late Replies."
"I promise I'll pay back my dues at the exact time."
"And If You Fail To?"
"Then...then you can have my properties as collateral."
He scoffed in mockery. "I Don't Need Your Wealth. I Have More Than Enough As You Can See. Your Properties Won't Make Me Any More Or Less Wealthier. Blood Is What I Require."
"What?"
"Well, If You're Backing Away I Can Understan..."
"No no no, in that case, you can have my most prized possession."
"Who?"
"My Daughter." He said with a heavy heart.
Hades pulled out a paper underneath his desk.
"What is that?"
"You Didn't Think We Weren't Gonna Sign An Agreement Did You? Now For The Last Time, Are You Sure You Want To Do This."
"Yes yes, please. Let's get on with it. Thank you very much."
Years later and now He wasn't willing to pay back? The foolish old scum! People were all the same. Eager to revel but hesitant to pay back and there's him who couldn't afford such permissiveness with his debtors.
The next thing was to bring him here and deal with him just like his predecessors. Oh how much fun that was going to be! But first, who amongst his daughters could be his most prized possession? The one that would hurt him much more than death. He had to figure that out.
"Arman?" He called out to one of his guards.
"Yes Boss?"
"Edward Doreen Has How Many Children Again?"
"Four sir, four girls."
"Hmm, Very Fertile Indeed." Hades was planning on striking Edward where it would hurt him most.
"And Who's The First Daughter?"
"Ruth Doreen."
That Would Make Her The Heiress To The Doreen Legacy And No Doubt, His Most Prized Possession. He thought.
"I Want Her."
"Right away Boss...but...if I may..."
"What Is It? Speak!"
"Ruth Doreen however, is not the one in charge of the family's company."
"What?! Then Who?"
"A certain young woman. It has been rumored that she's actually an illegitimate child."
"Name?"
"Allison, Allison Doreen. However, there's not much about her on the internet, she appears to be very...low-key."
Lowkey Or Just Deliberately Hiding? Hades thought, suspiciously.
The Man Must Think He Was Smart. Hiding Away His Most Prized Possession, and no doubt, his Favorite Daughter From Him. Too bad, his cover had been blown. Hades smirked to himself.
"Well, In That Case, Bring This...Allison To Me."
DOREEN MANSION
2:20 pm
Allison arrived that afternoon to see how her sick father was faring only to be met with chaos, ambulance blaring and medical personnel rushing her rather unconscious father in a stretcher.
What's going on? What happened to him? She hurriedly inquired in a fit of panic.
He took something...poison perhaps...we're not certain. It was Ruth speaking.
Poison?! And none of you kept watch!
What were expecting us to do? Who would suspect Dad would try to kill himself? Ivy butted in.
This...this is so careless of the four of you. To think none of you thought it through to thoroughly check his room. She said, half yelling.
Allison Allison, always looking for the perfect opportunity to be a goody-goody. You're trying to say we don't care about father. This time it was Pearl speaking.
What is the matter with you Allison? How dare you yell at us? If you so much cared then why didn't you stay back yourself? Lina shot back at her sister.
Why would she? She's always trying to appease Father by being a workaholic. You should be the most ashamed here Allison, you choose to put work before your own father! Ruth added.
Wh...what?! Argh God! I can't sit here for this...Allison said, hurriedly getting into her car and driving after the ambulance.
CANDORS HOSPITALS
WARD 318
Oh...oh father, please...I can't stand seeing you like this.
Come away Allison, the doctors need to attend to him. Davian spoke behind her,
Can't...can't I stay?
It's best you listen to the young Man Miss Doreen and let us attend to the patient.
With that, she reluctantly left the ward, with Davian holding her close to his side. They sat in the waiting area, she couldn't stop sobbing.
I'm sorry Allison. He said, softly.
I...I can't lose him Davian, that Man is my life and heart. I just can't lose him.
And you won't. Trust me.
Allison sighed, hopelessly.
Why the hell did he have to poison himself?
She asked even when she knew the obvious answer- killing himself meant putting an end to whatever duel He had with those rascals.
Brain damage... The doctor had said that the substance affected his brain. What am I gonna do Davian?
Hey hey, you sound like you're giving up. That's not very uplifting Allison.
What else can I do?
Stay strong for him. I believe everything will turn out fine. He assured, holding her in his arms.
I don't know about everything being fine Davian. We're talking fifty million bucks for the damn surgery, the fact that he will likely lose 50% of his memories when He regains consciousness, and let's not talk about how much this expense is going to shake the company's finance. I'm so tired, I don't know....
First things first, I'll assist with the bills.
What?
It's nothing
No no no I don't want you to
Why? Aren't your problems also suppressed to be mine? Let me help out Allison, please.
No. She moved her head sideways. I'll handle everything myself. I don't want any help. I'll be fine.
But...
...Please babe, I need you to respect my decision.
Fine. If you so wish.
Thank you. Allison said, lying back in his arms once again.
Saying no to Davian's offer was a bone in the neck that she had to swallow. She needed the support but no, she wasn't ready to answer certain questions once her father regained consciousness. She wasn't ready to introduce him yet, her boyfriend who paid the enormous bills while you were in a coma. Her father would without a doubt, want her to marry Davian immediately but she wasn't ready yet....not with a temper like his.
A MONTH LATER
_7:40 pm_
Davian...Allison set her bag down on the sofa and hugged him in relief.
How's your dad?
He's fine, I'm just coming back from the hospital.
Still in a coma?
Yes. She nodded.
It'll be alright.
I hope so. I really want to see him open his eyes again, I still have so much to say to him.
And you will sweetheart, you will.
Allison smiled. Thank you, darling.
Have you figured out why He tried to poison himself?
I think he was trying to escape from his enemies.
Business rivals?
Nah I think it's something much deeper and God so help me the day I get my hands on whoever that person is.
Hey hey hey cool down Panther, there's no way I'm letting you do dangerous shit by yourself. If you ever find a lead don't hesitate to call me first. Okay?
Okay. Can I....She looked around the well-furnished bedroom....crash at your place tonight?
Here? Sure.
Thank you. Going back home would only be another night of incessant sobbing.
You shouldn't be crying too much Allison, it could be bad for your sight.
She smiled. Crying seems to be the only efficient thing my eyes can do.
What...Allison...He hated the miserableness in her voice...don't say things like that.
It's fine, I won't.
Don't even think about them.
Allison laughed. What now you can read my thoughts?
Just then the lights turned off for a second, leaving the space dark.
Good Lord! Turn on the damn lights. Allison shrieked in fright.
I'm sorry, Davian apologized, hurriedly reaching for his phone and turning on the flashlight.
Oh God! She sighed, trembling.
I'm sorry. He hugged her. Just then the lights came back on. There must have been something wrong with the power.
Hmm...she only nodded, still shaking.
I'm sorry...He apologized again, this time pressing his lips against the redness of her hair.
Davian knew about her phobia of dark spaces, it was induced as a result of a traumatic experience caused by a certain punishment her mother once gave her. That day, little Allison was fed up with strange Men always taking her mom away every night leaving her to sleep alone so she hid one of their car keys. When her mother found out she yelled at her.
_Cursed child! Do you have any idea how much money made me lose?!_
Enraged, Patrice dragged her daughter to the tiny storeroom and locked her up in there. That night her mother left the house as usual forgetting the child she kept locked up since that morning and didn't return after three days. With nothing but darkness, little Allison was so frightened she thought she would lose her mind. She was later found half-dead by the neighbors,
How I wish I could sap every negative energy from your body. Davian said, feeling the tension in her body, hugged against his. You deserve happiness darling, you've earned it.
She looked up and smiled into those ocean eyes, funny how she always drowned in them every time.
What would I do without you Davian?
Just imagine...He smiled...if you never crashed my car that morning.
The best-unplanned decision to ever happen to me.
To us.
True...she smiled.
Both their faces were locked in each other's gaze for a few seconds before Davian took the initiative and kissed her. Allison didn't resist him, she loved the thrilling feel of his lips against hers, it was comforting, it was therapy.
She remembered the first time they kissed, she couldn't explain the butterflies she felt down in her belly. They were wild and bumping against each other or at least that was what she could remember. The thought caused her to chuckle softly. The next second she could feel Davian's hands on her lower back, breaking her from the spellbound kiss.
We might not be needing this for now, He said, taking off her glasses and slowly lowering her back onto the sofa. Okay now she knew where this was going and it had to stop.
Davian...she held him back as she put on her glasses.
What's wrong?
Can we not do this?
What the hell Allison?
She could see the glint of anger in his eyes. I don't want to. She simply said, hoping he'd understand.
In almost three years Allison and you won't even let me touch you? Do you even love me?
I do, of course I do.
Well?
I'm just not ready for this. Not yet. Please understand me.
Are you...seeing someone else, Allison?
What? No!
Then why the hostility?! Why Allison? He snapped in rage, holding firmly to both her upper arms, her back against the wall.
There's someone else ISN'T THERE? He barked at her.
She shut her eyes, looking away in fright. No no there isn't. Came her small voice.
Look At Me ALLISON! NOW!!
Davian stop...please...she could feel his hard grip on her arms, so hard that it hurt and she feared the possibility of her bone actually breaking.
Why won't you let me have you, Allison?
Because I'm not ready.
Damn it, Allison! That's not an EXCUSE! He grasped her jaw firmly. I will not be made a fool of Allison.
I'm not making a fool out of you, believe me.
I want his name!
What? There's no one else...Her defense was cut short by the hard slap across her face, she held her bruised cheek, staring at him, dreadfully. God! He had lost his temper yet again. She fret within her.
Who is the other cocksucker that you've been seeing Allison?! WHO?! He further yelled.
Tears trailed down her cheeks. I...I can't believe you would suspect me of being anything but faithful. There's no one else other than you. I don't understand why you choose not to believe me. What else do you want me to say before you fucking believe me....Her voice was choked by her own tears and she couldn't go on anymore.
Yes, this was Davian, the one person who was capable of turning from an angel to a total demon within seconds, the only thing needed to unleash his demons was for one to pull the right strings. This was the side of him she feared, this was the side of him that made her not want to introduce him to her father yet, this was the side of him she was hoping to tame before they tied the unbreakable knot and due to the fact that He was her first love, she wanted to keep him forever. Just Then she could hear him sigh heavily as He pulled her into his chest as usual after every outburst. Davian patted her hair sympathetically.
That's good to know, I only wanted to make sure my suspicions were wrong. He said, kissing her hair. And I'm glad they were. He added.
Allison was still sobbing as He held her tight. He brought her face to meet with his and could clearly see the red bruise on her left cheek, due to his slap.
Did that hurt? He asked, caressing her cheek. Don't keep my question hanging sweetheart. He frowned.
Yes, it did. She sniffed.
He tilted his head to the left and kissed her bruised cheek. He could feel the hotness there.
You should go to bed. You have work tomorrow, don't you?
Hmm....she nodded. Goodnight, she added, trying to leave but Davian held her back, there was a sly smile playing on the side of his lips and she wondered why.
What is it?
Goodnight without a kiss is as sour as lime juice. Well?
Allison leaned taller and kissed him, briefly.
You're not still upset, are you? Darling, it's necessary I caution you whenever you err. Just so you realize who you belong to. Am I understood, sweetheart?
She only nodded.
You can go now. Have a lovely rest.
You too.
Typical Davian- No remorse whatsoever. He always believed He was right about everything and sometimes she wondered why she was still in love with this Man but she was and she knew He loved her to bits too and she hoped that one day no matter how long it took, He would finally change. For crying out loud, she couldn't leave him.
Davian was the only one who loved and understood her apart from her Father. He was the one who understood her traumas and helped her gradually heal to the point where she was now. Davian had goodness in him and it was that goodness she loved.
He had a bad temper, yes! Everyone has a flaw, no single person on Earth was perfect. She wasn't going to leave him because of this flaw but rather, she was going to help him through it. There was goodness in him and one day that goodness would certainly overcome his darkness.....Or Would It?!
