Chapter 160
True Tycoon Her Empire, Her Rules
Chapter 160 Kane instinctively led Winnie forward, the cameraman in hot pursuit.
The pair had barely crossed the threshold when the camera lens caught them off guard. A flicker of panic crossed their faces, and they instinctively shielded themselves, looking for an escape.
âWhoa, whatâs with the camera shyness?â
â| get it. Some folks just hate the spotlight. The type to dodge those street interviews like theyâre dodging bullets.â
âYeah, Iâm one of those people. Donât ask. Socially awkward club, right here.â
âPretty normal reaction, Iâd say.â
The audience was understanding, and Kane didnât want to pressure them, but the show must go on. He cleared his throat and approached.
âHello, we're shooting a show and could use a couple like you for a challenge. Would you be up for it?â
To Kaneâs surprise, the pair who had been all cuddled up split apart like they'd been zapped. The man, clearly annoyed, flatly denied, âNo can do. Find someone else.â
He was ready to bolt, but Kane, spotting a rare opportunity, moved to try again. That was when Winnie piped up, cutting him off, âDon't bother. They wonât agree.â
Her clear blue eyes swept over the two with a hint of insight, âAfter all, theyâre not really a couple.â
Kane was still processing the clue when panic visibly washed over the pair at Winnieâs words. The man, now visibly flustered, snapped, âEnough already. Stop filming.â
With that, he pushed past the woman beside him and they hurried away, not even bothering with the B&B theyâd come to.
The audience caught the guilty vibe too.
âThey're just a couple, right? Why the guilty getaway? Itâs not like Kane and Winnie are some kind of boogeymen.â
âPeople have the right to decline. The crew canât force them on camera.â
âIs it just me, or did that couple seem super sketchy?â
âAm | the only one who thinks they looked like deer in headlights?â
âHold your wild guesses, people. That's a bold assumption.â
âWhoa, could it be what Iâm thinking?â
â| gotta admit, this is juicy.
âWhat are yâall on about? They looked like a totally normal couple. â
âNormal couple my foot. That manâs my husband and his âwork tripâ excuse was a lie.
The chat froze for a moment before exploding with shock emojis.
âThis is insane. Was cheating caught live?â
âReminds me of that street photographer who accidentally caught a scandal a while back.â
âNo wonder they were acting shady. Sneaking around behind his wifeâs back, huh?
âDid Winnie know all along when she said they werenât a couple?â
âLet's not overhype Winnie. Itâs not like sheâs got some kind of sixth sense.
âYou'd be wrong to doubt. Winnieâs got a knack for the mysterious.
âSheâs from the Supernatural Department, after all.â
âLucky me, but sheâs not even enrolled yet. How could she be that good? | donât buy it.
âIs it really that hard to acknowledge her skills?â
The chat was ablaze with speculation as Kane, though suspecting the truth, sought confirmation from Winnie.
âYou said theyâre not a couple. You notice something?â
Winnie didnât beat around the bush, âThe guyâs aura shows heâs hitched. The girl? Not a ring in sight.â
Amarried man and a single woman, so what else needed to be said? Even the cameraman was taken aback. Talk about a twist.
Almost immediately, internet detectives started matching faces to social media profiles. sharing the manâs wedding pictures and his wifeâs photos with her best friend.
The cheating scandal was undeniable.
Kane, oblivious to the online detective work, trusted Winnieâs insight. After witnessing her previous feats, his faith in her was solid.
Capturing a cheater on a simple show task left Kane unsure whether to laugh or cringe. He coughed awkwardly, redirecting the focus, âLetâs try the next couple.â
Winnie nodded, and with lunchtime looming, they headed to the B&Bâs dining area.
While they moved on from the incident, the live audience buzzed with reactions.
âClassic Kane, catching a cheating couple on the first try.â
âWinnie has s got the eye for truth.â
âIsnât Winnie invading their privacy? Exposing them on live camera... That guyâs in for a storm at home.â
âWho let the dogs out? Should we cover up for cheaters now?â
âHe gets what he deserves if heâs divorced. His cheating, his fault, not Winnieâs.â
âOnly a cheater defends another cheater.â
âDidn't you see the social post? Heâs married. And the mistress was the brideâs bestie? Utterly disgusting.â
âA true bestie wouldn't go after her friendâs man. That bestieâs a fake.â
âCatching your husband and best friend cheating on a livestream? Heartbreaking.â
âEven if Winnie did it on purpose, Iâm all for it. Should she have turned a blind eye? Spare a thought for the wife in the dark.â
âIt must have been the ruckus in the chat that did it. Suddenly, the scorned queen of the chatroom, who had previously unleashed a virtual roar of rage, showered Winnieâs live stream with a dazzling âGalactic Tribute*.
The screen was flooded with effects, and amongst them, a message from the lady herself.
âBig shoutout to Winnie and Kane. If it wasnât for your wild expose, Iâd still be in the dark. Good riddance to bad rubbish. This marriage is over.â
The girl was clearly no pushover, and the viewers in the chatroom rallied behind her, hurling digital tomatoes at the scumbag in question.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the screen, Winnie and Kane were scoping out a diner, which, sure enough, was packed with couples cozied up in booths.
Just as Kane had cautiously marked a pair by the window to approach, Winnie suddenly grabbed his arm and called out toa man and a woman who had just brushed past them.
Kane couldn't shake the ominous hunch that crept up as he saw the way Winnie was eyeing the couple. The plot was thickening, and not in a way that suggested a happy ending.
