Chapter 178
True Tycoon Her Empire, Her Rules
âWhereâs Winnie?â Candace was the first to notice Winnieâs absence and blurted out the question without thinking.
The staff had no chance to respond when the mother Hailey on the livestream finally regained her composure, remembered she was still on air, and, after a quick apology to the guests and the audience, her eyes began to search the room, clearly looking for Winnie.
At that moment, Winnie returned. Seeing Haileyâs gaze on her, she seemed to hesitate, wanting to say something. Before she could speak, Winnie cut in, âI just had a courier drop off a little something for you. I hope it can be of some help.â
Though Haileyâs death wish eased slightly, as long as she couldnât let go of her daughterâs passing, she would struggle with dark thoughts.
Ultimately, the online comments were merely a spark. The true reason for her despair was still the loss of her child.
Hailey hadnât expected a gift and, considering Winnieâs ability to see her daughterâs spirit, her respect for the young girl grew. She didnât even think to ask how Winnie knew her address. With a nod and a thank you, since she still had to face her family after the attempted suicide, she quickly ended the livestream.
The audience hadnât anticipated Winnie stepping out to give a gift and were curious about what she had sent. And how had she managed to arrange a delivery in such a short time?
Winnie, seeing the flurry of comments on the screen, simply stated, âI sent a talisman.â
Mervin glanced at her but didnât inquire further. The audience assumed it was a Safety Charm or something to bring peace, without delving deeper.
The conversation in the comments shifted back to the heated online debates about the motherâs attempted suicide. It was infuriating to see that, despite preventing a tragedy, there were still skeptics online suggesting it was all an act.
Even after being rebutted, some trolls persisted in their views.
Winnie frowned as she read the comments.
âThe words we speak, online and off, carry consequences. Even on the internet, Iâd advise against reckless speculation and extreme comments,â she said, her voice firm but calm.
âSuch comments often carry a negative energy, which can accumulate and affect your own fortuneâbe it your career or your wealth.â
Her words resonated through the chat, and the onceâsilent trolls suddenly became vigilant, deciding to steer clear of such discussions in the future.
âAfter all, you might mess with my love life, even my friendships, but when it comes to my financial luck, thereâs no negotiation.â
12:04 1 âI knew she had a way of warning usâ¦â
âI have a friend who was so blinded by love, she wouldnât listen when I told her the guy was bad news.
But after meeting a psychic who said her boyfriend was hurting her finances, she dumped him so fast,â
âHaha, in the end, it was metaphysics to the rescue!â
âAt first, I thought Winnie was just easyâgoing, you know, she never reacted to those online trolls. But today, it hit me. Sheâs not without a temper, she just cares more when others are mistreated.â
âGirls help girls.â
âIâm officially a fan of Winnie!â
While the livestream continued on one front, Haileyâs husband was seeing off the police and the community committee who had come to console them.
Returning to the bedroom, he found his wife staring blankly at her right hand, the life seemingly drained from her.
He knew that though they had stopped her from taking her life today, she was still haunted by the loss of their child.
Who could let go so easily?
He walked over and hugged her tightly, his voice hoarse with emotion, âHailey, itâs my fault. Iâve been distracted by other things and havenât noticed how youâve been feeling⦠Please, donât leave me alone.
Bella is gone⦠I canât lose you tooâ¦â
Tears flowed anew as they clung to each other, sobbing silently.
After what seemed like an eternity, the doorbell rang.
Cleaning his tears roughly, he told his wife heâd get the door and left the room.
Soon after, he called for Hailey, âHailey, can you come here?â
Gathering her wits, Hailey stood and walked to the entrance, where she saw a courier dressed in black, with a cap, waiting.
âHe says thereâs a delivery for you, and it needs your personal signature,â her husband said softly.
Hailey looked puzzled for a moment, then, as if a thought struck her, she stepped forward.
The courierâs eyes briefly met hers before he pulled a wooden box out of his bag.
âConfirmed, this is for Hailey. Sent by Miss Winnie, two Spiritâviewing Charms,â he said, opening the box to reveal two greyish talismans.
To the unsuspecting couple, he added, âTo use, simply burn the paper or place it on your body. The effect lasts for two hours.â
Haileyâs eyes shimmered with understanding, turning redârimmed as she received the talismans. Her husband, baffled, watched her sign for the delivery, and couldnât help asking, âWinnie, is she the one on that livestream? Why did she send you these talismans?â
And the delivery was incredibly fast.
The courier didnât mention his company, and before he could ask more, Hailey suddenly pressed one of the talismans against his chest.
He looked down at her actions, somewhat resigned, thinking she had been driven mad by their loss.
Just as he was about to console her, she stared ahead, her lips quivering, tears welling.
He followed her gaze and, in the dim light of their living room, saw a small, familiar figure standing no more than a few feet away.
Looking up at them with a familiar, slightly aggrieved expression, the small ghost girl whispered, âDaddy, Mommyâ¦â
His eyes filled with tears and Haileyâs sobs broke the silence as the poignant reunion unfolded.
At that moment, neither of them questioned whether they were caught in an illusion, nor did they entertain any ghostly fears. All they felt was a heartâwrenching emotion and a profound sense of being moved.
âBella!â Their child⦠Their little one whom they had lost too soon, without even getting a chance to say a final goodbye.
Choking back tears, they both called out her name and, as if guided by the same force, they rushed toward the tiny figureâ¦
