Chapter 25
True Tycoon Her Empire, Her Rules
Nobody had ever seen Carola like this before, not even Malcolm or Luke.
Carola had always been the epitome of a sophisticated and elegant lady. Even when someone rubbed her the wrong way, she would maintain her polse and never stoop to arguing.
But now, her hair was disheveled, her clothes and necklace askew, and she resembled an enraged lioness, intimidating enough to keep anyone at armâs length.
Lucy seemed equally frightened by this new side of her mother. Forgetting all about her imaginary game of magic, she burst into tears and shouted, âMama, Mama!â
It was her daughterâs cries that seemed to snap Carola back to her senses. She released. Darcey, whom she had been grasping fiercely, and staggered over to Lucy, enveloping her in tight embrace and soothing her with a trembling voice.
âLucy, donât cry, my sweet girlâ¦â
âMama, no fighting, please donât fightâ¦â
âI wonât, baby. Itâs all my fault. I didnât protect youâ¦â
As she spoke, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably while she clutched the sobbing Lucy.
Malcolm and Luke watched Carola and Lucy in tears, feeling a lump in their throats and a tightness in their chests. When their gaze shifted back to Darcey, their eyes were filled with a cold and penetrating anger.
Darcey, who had been struck until she was dizzy and swollen on one side of her face, was infuriated to see Carola and Lucy crying together. She hadnât even shed a tear yet!
What right did they have to cry?!
Just then, Althea and Darceyâs husband arrived in a rush. The scene they walked into left them furious.
âWhat is going on here with the Sanchez family?! Iâm calling the police!â Her husband Galloway Robinson snapped.
Malcolm had restrained himself from striking a woman, but at the sight of Galloway, he approached with a cold sneer. âGo ahead. At worst, Iâll pay you some money. But you have used black magic against my daughter.
family will use every connection we have to make you pay!â
Hearing Malcolm so confidently accuse them of black magic, Galloway felt a chill in his heart. He glanced at Darcey and saw her crying out with many cuts in her face, âThey burned the life contract, my poor Hans!â Darcey cried out.
Realizing that the Sanchez family had not only uncovered the truth but had also destroyed the 12:19 life contract, Galloway felt as if his world had crumbled. Althea widened her eyes in shock. After scolding Darcey for her carelessness she began to wail, âHow could you burn my Hans lite contract?! That was life! You are so cruelfâ
The Sanchez family was stunned by the audacity of the Robinson family to play the victim.
Malcolm trembled his cheeks with rage. Just as he was about to speak, Adelina emerged from nowhere, spitting at Althea.
âPah! You tried to harm my granddaughter and now you have the nerve to call us cruel? Youâre the heartless one â
Althea stood her ground, with no trace of remorse on her face, âYour granddaughterâs a simpleton. What good is she alive? Itâs better to give her years to my dear grandson. Hans was so bright. How could he just not liv longâ¦â
Darcey joined in, pleading with Lucy. âLucy, I had no choice. Hans is sick and needs to live. Remember how he used to play with you? Help him, please. Just give your fifty years to Hans.
thatâs allâ¦â
Carola was livid. How dare they imply Lucyâs life was worthless because of her simplicity? And to ask for fifty years of her life for a childhood friendship? How could they be so shameless?
Carola wanted to slap them fifty times over but couldnât. She was too busy covering Lucyâs ears the moment Darcey spoke.
While Carola was preoccupied. Luke stepped in, disregarding any notion that a man shouldnât lay hands on a woman, and pulled Darcey away from his sister.
Her face was so swollen he feared Lucy might have nightmares just looking at her. Fortunately, the life contract had been burned, and the Sanchez family had no desire to witness any more of the Robinson familyâs vile behavior. Their bodyguards promptly escorted them out. As they left, Winnie lingered behind and turned to the Robinson family with a faint smile. Then she said, âBlack magic comes back to haunt its caster. As the masterminds, you canât escape the repercussions. For the next three years, the Robinson family will suffer from ill fortune.â
Ignoring their dreadful expressions, she added, âConsider this advice free of charge.* Horace watched Winnieâs serious demeanor and couldnât help but laugh. Not only did she seem to possess real power, but she also seemed⦠quite fond of making money. That reassured him, because money was the one thing the Bryant family never lacked.
The group returned to the Sanchez family. As soon as they entered, Lucy seemed to lose all her energy, leaning weakly against Carola and murmuring, âMama, Iâm hungry.â
At the sight of Lucy looking under the weather, the Sanchez family immediately tensed up. asking. âMaster Bryant, is there something else wrong with Lucy?â
Winnie said, âRelax, itâs just a bit of fatigue after being harmed, nothing serious. Just make sure she gets some good food, and let her soak up some sun during the day and sheâll be fine.â
Hearing that Lucy was okay, the Sanchez family breathed a collective sigh of relief. At this point, they took Winnieâs words as gospel.
as a hint of relief was about to spread across their faces, Winnie continued, âSheâll need a couple of days to regain her strength. After that, Iâll come back to help her reclaim the wit sheâs lost.â
Her casual tone made the Sanchez family freeze in unison, as if they couldnât believe their ears âMaster Bryant, what do you mean? Donât you mean that my Lucyâ¦â Malcolm, a tycoon in the business world, was suddenly stammering with nerves.
Winnie glanced at Carola, who was equally astounded, and blinked, âI believe I mentioned this to Carola beforeâ¦â
