[50-II] Do Not Test The Lycan

Misty II

The Lycans halted in their tracks.

The whole sky was filled with a loud thunder. Grey clouds shined as they got outlined when lightning jolted behind them. The wind were taking them away.

The rain started to calm down and it actually stopped the moment, the four brothers turned around to look at the Alpha of Rucussa who had finally opened his mouth.

Kingston stood properly, facing Pete again and showing speechlessness.

"You think that will hurt us?" Virion said, letting out a confident chuckle. "It will hurt you, your pack and the packs who will follow this sinful thought."

Pete blinked calmly, opening his fists and pushing his not-so-long hair back from the forehead. The blood mixed with the rain on his face, leaking down from the forehead wounds. The confidence radiated off him as he nodded with a slight clench of the jaws.

"I am sure it won't be as hurtful for you as being prisoned inside the border forever," replied Pete while I blinked in shock.

Was he really doing this?

Even Gilbert and his pups looked shocked. Not the mere shock. Eva and Keira were wide-eyed and Thomas had this surprised and goofy smile on his face.

"Misty is special," said Pete while nodding at Karam. "Very Precious. If you have gotten her, you don't need any more brides. So, forget arriving to the borders next time."

Lysar looked quite tensed.

Virion and Anton were also low-key freaking out with the way they looked at Kingston.

"As you wish, Alpha Pete. I hope, it will make you sleep in peace at night." The Alpha of Lycans replied without a worry and turned around, not showing his face anymore.

Karam didn't move while Robin was staring at Pete in confusion.

"You throw your sister across the border. You fail to take her away because of the border. You cannot take your mate away because of the border," said Robin while giving him a plain look. "How pleasing to know that you are pouring out your anger on us."

"Our males are stronger than you," said Anton while glaring hard at my brother. "Unlike you, they stay at peace and accept the fates. It is you who will not be able to survive. We will live. Our brothers will live. Our pups will live."

"For how long," said Pete, giving him a stern look. "Three centuries. More? Soon there will be no one behind this border. My pack's descendants will leave flowers on the graves of dedicated wolf mates who were sent here and the Lycan females who never met their mates on this territory."

"What I am suffering today will suffer your heir soon. But I have a younger brother, first cousins while your heir won't have one," said Pete and Kingston stopped again to turn around and glare at him. "His mate won't enter the territory. The pure Lycan blood Alpha will have no Luna. Soon, no pure blooded descendant. Soon, no descendant at all. No Lycans at all."

Lysar flared his nostrils and directly asked, "What do you want?"

Pete released a breath and turned around to walk towards the Jeep.

"Misty cannot cross the border. She will die!" Lysar yelled angrily.

I felt empty when Gilbert stood straight and sat in the driver's seat.

I breathed harshly.

He started the engine.

Wind slapped my cheeks and brought fresh tears to my eyes.

Pete's shadow from the Jeep's light fell on the Lycans. He kept walking towards the vehicle slowly.

"We are helpless!" Lysar yelled again, this time the desperation was audible.

Pete didn't respond and walked lazily. It was crazy how he was behaving calm and cool but he still looked intimidating. He still looked as alert as he could be. Still the same uncontrollable beast but this time, a little sorted.

The sound of Lysar letting out erratic breaths reached me. He might have looked at his brothers for help because Robin let out a faint growl to stop my brother.

"Severa will haunt your dreams!" Lysar yelled angrily.

As if it was a trigger.

Pete turned around immediately and let out the loudest growl. The ground shook and so did the whole forest. The flapping of birds feather was echoing along with his growl.

His eyes glowed golden while canines were out. The dark brown fur ripped through his right muscular arm from his hand to up his shoulder in a swift motion.

I staggered back a little in fright.

"Severa!" He growled while stepping ahead in fury and punching the ground hard.

It wasn't like the the ground was breaking.

But the sound of something breaking did echo in my ears.

The Lycan brothers seemed slightly shocked by the reaction.

"Severa!" Pete called out again loudly in a rough voice that I never knew he owned.

"Fucking dare to show up!" He growled angrily, looking around up in the sky and opening his mouth full to show his sharp canines.

Pete stepped ahead and glared at the four brothers, pointing his claw directly at them.

"The flower for my pack's member you just clawed!" He growled loudly. "Or no brides!"

Kingston looked calm or he was very good at hiding his emotions while the rest of the Lycans looked annoyed.

Even Karam looked like he hadn't ever imagined Pete to ask for this flower of all the things.

The sudden concern made me look at Eva, Thomas and Keira. It seemed like one of them was clawed by the Lycans.

But none of them was showing off the wound. They were bleeding at many places but I couldn't see the particular gash.

I could remember that the claw attack could be poisonous. The fact terrified me. Despite knowing this, they fought bravely. Exceptionally. For me.

Pete looked around and the fur ripped through his vest across the chest. Yet he didn't transform fully to speak his words out loud.

"Severa! Neither your brothers could defeat my Rucus, nor would their descendants be able to defeat me!"

It was disastrous than the rain and thunder we were suffering all night.

The aura had made me fall on to the ground.

Even Eva, Keira and Thomas couldn't raise their heads.

"Any words for the sister you couldn't help escape." Kingston wasn't intimidated a bit.

Pete breathed hard and looked at me. The fur started fading while his eyes turned normal. All the anger faded away and he finally gave me all of his attention.

I staggered back when he stomped towards me.

A small whimper escaped me when his big muscular arms wrapped around my small form.

"It's okay," I mumbled between the cries when his shoulders shook terribly. The fear of Alpha dropped when the brotherly warmth brought me slight comfort. The tears flew down like a river. "It's okay, Pete. I understand."

The hug felt so tight, his arms had started to crush me.

My hand reached for his back.

"You suffer more than me without her," I said. It made him weep brutally. "Just take care of my Gran and Mom. Would you?"

I stared up at the dark sky. It was getting clearer. The rainy clouds were gone and soon my brother would be too.

"I forgive you," I choked out, realising that without these words, Pete would blame himself all his life.

As if the reality was started to sink in. As if I could now accept the fate even though the future seemed dark and scary.

"I just wish, I would have spent more time with you all." I said in my hoarse voice. "I wish I could have hugged Gran a goodbye."

My spine would break if Pete had put more weight on my shoulders.

He was literally weeping like a small boy, breaking in guilt.

"Thank you for coming here. It means everything that you cared enough," I said sobbingly. "If this isn't everything for someone who didn't exist for you all, then what is. I am glad that I could gain some love from the family I thought I could no longer be a part of."

My eyes fell on the Jeep, observing Gilbert's back of the head. He was just staring ahead quietly.

"At least, you are not like him. He really would keep that wall to not even say a goodbye at a moment like this. I don't blame him," I continued while sniffing softly. "I was very pissed when I found about the pup. At least, I will be kind enough to not keep him away from his father and hate him."

I removed my hand from his back, making him pull away from me.

Pete's face had reddened. Eyes were bloodshot. Cheeks were wet.

"I could have come earlier. I could have saved you. I shouldn't have done that fourth night in the first place," he squeaked out.

I shook my head, biting my trembling lip. "It was written in the fates. It is not your fault."

Within a second, Eva pushed him away and threw her arms around me. She didn't cry. She didn't speak a word.

"Eva," I told her, sobbing softly. "You stole the fucking pant. I can't. . ."

We both chuckled while she kissed my cheek before pulling away.

Her eyes had filled with tears as her jaws moved in zigzag, trying to control the urge to cry.

"It was drying out on a rope," she joked while giving me a sad and hurtful look. "Just don't lose yourself. We will be here only. Don't hesitate to kick them in the balls. They won't kill you, I know."

She nodded when I didn't react. I didn't understand what she meant by that. Did she know that they were demanding a heir from me?

"I am sorry that we didn't care from the beginning," said Eva, in a shaky tone. "Ah! Mother will kill us. She will, definitely. She will hate us all for you. Fair enough."

She chuckled and took a long breathe. "Moon Goddess' a fucking bitch, I swear. The border's a bitch. I am sure it's just a belt of ionised radiation or something wicked from science. I have stopped believing in this supernatural shit, I swear. I don't want to anymore. It sucks. Maybe, all we need is a scientist's point of view to solve this," She kept cursing while moving away and breathing out.

Keira gave me a sad smile. "Mother is two months away from having a pup. Stephen has started to come out of his home and roam around. Do you know that? He said that you made him love life more. Your descriptions of the day made him love his pack more."

Her lips trembled and voice shook as she flared her nostrils. "Ivan is wonderful."

"I am happy for you," I choked out. "And for him. I miss Stephen."

She let out a sob and controlled while looking up, probably remembering everything she wanted to convey in the last moments.

Who knew if right after they leave, I would be killed? Who knew if they would chain me or put me in a jail? Who knew if Karam would torture me like Gorudo did to Chelsea?

"It's okay," I replied while shaking my head at her. "You don't have to make me feel better. This is better. This goodbye. Better than getting thrown in air."

After she hugged me tight and moved away, I passed Thomas a smile.

But he only gave me a quiet look. His eyes held tears but he looked serious while being serious.

"Heat only comes when you low-key start feeling something," he said, giving me the dead eye.

My heart clenched inside my chest.

The conversation from the cave revolved in my mind.

"Eva was in love with Leo all that time?" I asked, making all of them turn silent at my attempt of a joke.

I smiled slightly and sniffled when Thomas wrapped his arms around me.

"Do you want me to threaten your mate with something? Do you want me to stay? I will. I definitely will. I am not scared anymore. Alyssa would be pissed but she will find me here. She doesn't love the outside world as much as she loves me. We will both live here, protect you, entertain you-"

"Take care of her and Natalie like you always do." I cut him off with the reminder.

He sighed and hid his face against my shoulder when I continued, "Stop hating Nirvan. He was following the orders."

"Yeah," he choked out. "But I hate him for getting the fairy too."

I closed my eyes and rubbed his back, sobbing softly. "There is so much to say. . ."

"I said I'll stay," he repeated while I sniffled softly. "What am I going to tell our mother?"

"The reason why I got heat." I choked out, making him pull away.

Thomas' lower lip curled as he wiped his cheeks with his knuckles. "This is not fair. I don't accept this. This. . . Farewell. This. . . You don't deserve this. . . I won't sit in peace knowing you are stuck here. . ." He wept softly.

He looked at the Lycans and mumbled, "Can't they just live near the borders and mingle with us?"

"Half the pack would turn into dust the very first day." The words slipped from my mouth smoothly.

Thomas looked back at me and patted my head, not being able to say anything.

He blinked through the tears and turned around to walk away. Eva and Keira followed.

Pete stared at me through the bloodshot eyes. I pushed at his chest.

"Go," I said, gulping hard. "There is no other way but to be here."

He didn't budge and his tears kept flowing.

"You should have thought before throwing me away," I said, telling him the truth. "I tried hard to solve it all myself. But I have given up now. You all came here. Changed the history. You did something no Alpha even tried before. That's celebratory enough."

His nostrils flared while I pushed at his chest again.

"This is your gift to me. Even if I am not interested, I will have to love it because you brought me here. Just like my Grandfather's papaya tree in Gran's backyard," I said while remembering that wrinkly gorgeous face. "I wonder what story you are going to tell her. I bet she'll call police."

I chuckled while Pete wiped the corner of his eyes.

"I know you'll handle it. I'll handle it here too," I told him with a straight face. "I have given up on hope. On the thought of getting out of here. Savina couldn't. Alvena couldn't. I was never an exception. The border will be here forever. . ."

Pete looked around and back at me, tears collecting again in the eyes.

". . . just like that dark scar on Gran's knee." I wiped a tear while stepping back. "There was an accident long time ago. Ah! She had hid that box in the attic. I wish I hadn't been curious and found about my real father. It all began from there. Anyway. . ."

I glanced back at the Jeep.

Eva and Keira had taken their seats. Thomas was standing at the back.

Gilbert blew the horn, twisting my heart.

I wanted to run to that Jeep and hide myself under a seat.

". . . Go." I squeaked out while waving at the girls and Tommy.

Pete turned around while I did too.

Lowering my head I kept walking.

The engine roared loudly, forcing me to look back at them.

Pete jumped on the space at the back. Thomas had sat down with a blank face while the elder one was staring at us.

"No brides!" He didn't forget to growl loudly at the Lycans for the last time.

I turned around and walked past the Lycan males.

The roar of the Jeep was echoing all around.

The rain had stopped and so did the thunder.

It was only the wind and I was shivering in the cold.

My heart beats had started to fasten because of the silence that was growing. The darkness was growing too.

There was no sound of any step. As if the Lycans weren't walking anymore.

The Jeep had brought me quite far away from the village. This meant that I had to walk towards the houses for a long time.

The paranoia was kicking in slowly.

My sobs were getting louder and legs were shaking in fear of getting punished. The bigger was the pain of not being able to save myself from getting stuck here for forever.

Suddenly the light on the ground started pouring in. Faint yellowish light.

I walked five more steps until I stepped on the head of the tallest of the shadows.

A hole started piercing through my heart.

Terror.

I breathed and breathed while raising my gaze to look up at the front.

Half of the village was standing there. Every Alpha family member including the Severan females too. Beta family too. Everyone was drenched. Everyone looked pissed.

Two Lycan males on each side were holding the torches in their hands.

The males I had seen getting drunk at the bonfire were standing all alert and active now.

Right in the middle of the crowd was standing, the Luna.

Amelia's eyes were stern. Everyone was in their night clothes. White and light Fabrics. Frocks and loose pajama for males except for the ones who went out for Mystic widows. They were still in the breeches.

I blinked as the sudden intimidation started to suffocate me. I shuddered and felt chills running down my spine.

Alvena's eyes met mine and she passed me a blank look. Natasha looked disappointed. Nysa was furious.

It was Amelia who was making me hiccup in fright.

"You'd rather be dust than be with us monsters," she repeated my words with a sweet sarcastic smile and took Keev from Reveka's arms.

If that wasn't horrifying enough, footsteps started echoing.

The hair on my neck risen.

Their gazes shifted from me to someone coming behind me.

My mouth parted in lack of air as I felt the presence reaching me from behind.

"Wh-What's happening?" I asked fearfully, my shoulders heaving up and down.

Nysa smiled and so did her daughter, Stella. "We are going to reward you for such beautiful words, Misty."

My eyes fell on Savina who looked like she didn't want to be here and see me getting scared.

My voice shook as I looked back at Amelia. The fear brought out the anger in me.

"I meant those words," I said while gritting my teeth. "With all of my heart."

Amelia flared her nostrils and kissed Keev's head. "Do not test the Lycan. The one who is destined to have you."

"Fuck you!" I screamed and felt my eyes burning with tears. "I'd rather die."

"Except it is not for you to choose," said Amelia while someone placed hand around my forearm.

I stiffened and gulped hard.

My stunned eyes lowered. My head turned as I looked down at the forearm, hyperventilating at the sight of long elongated furry fingers and sharp talons.

The scream was lost inside my throat as my mouth opened and nothing came out.

I breathed and breathed as the monster turned me around, making me lose my breath at the sight of the huge Lycan monster.

On hinged legs, he stepped ahead and looked up to let out the loudest growl.

I was shaken to the core. My heart was aching from the fright. I couldn't expect myself to stay alive for longer.

The red orbs just glared down at me and the rain started pouring.

As if the horror had still not ended for me.

I whimpered silently as the glimpses from the very first night on this land relived in my mind.

The beast took a step closer making me stagger back and stumble.

But the furry hand grabbed my hair, pulling my head up enough to look up in the red orbs with nothing but extreme fear in my eyes.

"Karam?" I whispered out shakily.

My stomach churned and heart fell deep down in a dark hole.

The rain drops fell on my face and he opened his big elongated Lycan mouth.

I was shaking and struggling to breathe.

Goosebumps risen all over my body as the wind passed through us, bringing harsh rain drops against my face.

I hiccuped in terror and tried to speak. But I was frozen. Petrified. Barely alive.

The village watched as the next thing that happened was the Beastly face lowering down to glare at me. The mouth opened and the saliva from large canines leaked down on my neck.

My hair were pulled again and within a blink, I let out the loudest scream.

My eyes rolled in between, mouth stayed open and tears slid down my cheeks.

My whole body felt weak as the canines stayed inside my neck for the longest time.

I released breaths absentmindedly and my eyes felt heavy.

My legs weakened and knees hit the ground. He laid me back on the ground slowly while pulling the canines out from my neck.

The movement was so clean and painful, I could feel every mili second of it.

The beast's face came back in sight. Dark, furry and deadly. Red orbs shined while red blood drops dripped from his canines to on my face mixing up with the rain drops.

My eyes rolled in between again and I was pulled into the darkness, not before listening it again just like the very first night.
