Another One

Scorpio walked around until he came by a graveyard, he noticed they were in the middle of a burial.

Scorpio: Hmm, must be from the motorcade from earlier.

Stranger: He was a good man.

Scorpio looked over and saw a young man standing next.

Scorpio: Who was he?

Stranger: He was the town's doctor, everyone respected and loved him, which makes what happened really confusing.

Scorpio looked over.

Stranger: Sorry, where are my manners, my name is Joseph.

Scorpio: Pleasure, my name is Scorpio, what do you mean by confusing.

Joseph: Well lately some of the the townspeople has been disappearing or found dead by what appears to be animal attacks, but his death was clearly murder.

Scorpio: Interesting.

Joseph: Yeah, I was planning on thanking him a few days ago, but I never got the chance to.

Scorpio kept listening.

Joseph: I'm a soldier, and I was enlisted before the impending war so I was sent out early, I had to leave my pregnant wife behind. While I was away, she went into labor, there were, complications, but thanks to the doctor, my wife and child survived.

Scorpio: Congratulations on your child.

Joseph: Thank you, excuse me but I have to get home now.

Scorpio nodded and Joseph left, before making his way back, Scorpio decided to get more information on the missing people and attacks.

Back at the Inn*

Taurus: excuse me, Benny?

Benny: yes?

Taurus: Do you serve food here?

Benny: Oh yes we do, my mother is just about finish with her stew, I can you a bowl of you like.

Taurus: thank you.

Benny: No problem, in the meantime please have a seat in our dining room, and will the others be joining you.

Taurus: I'm not sure actually.

Benny: That's fine I'll bring two more bowls.

The food was brought out and Scorpio walked in at the same time.

Scorpio: I'm back, Hi Benny.

Benny:.....

Benny leaves and Scorpio sits down.

Taurus: I think she likes you.

Scorpio: Could've fooled me.

Virgo came downstairs shortly after.

Scorpio was talking them about what's going on around town.

Virgo: We should help figure this out.

Taurus: I don't think we should get involved.

Scorpio: Yeah last I checked, we're exorcists, not the police.

Taurus: We should just stay the night and leave before we get sucked in.

Suddenly a old lady walks out the kitchen.

Old Lady: What do you mean leave, you were sent here for a reason.

Scorpio: Uhhh what, no we weren't.

The old lady paused for a moment.

Old Lady: Didn't Cancer send you?

Virgo: Cancer?

Taurus: I'm sorry ma'am, we weren't sent by cancer.

Old lady: First dont call me "ma'am" my name is Kaija, and second, are you not exorcists?

Virgo: Yes we are.

Kaija: Good then you can help this town with a problem.

Scorpio got up and walked towards Kaija.

Scorpio: Look, Kaija, maybe there's an obvious explanation to what's happening.

Kaija: I know what I saw.

Virgo: You saw something?

Scorpio turned around.

Scorpio: she probably doesn't know what she's talking about.

Kaija raised her arm and her sleeves slid down a bit, revealing a bracelet.

Kaija: I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.

Taurus and Cancer looked surprised.

Scorpio: Damn, another Communicator?

Kaija: That's right, now please sit down and listen.

Taurus: Ok we'll listen, but still we are not the one Cancer sent.

Kaija: Then that means one more exorcists is coming, the more the merrier.

Scorpio: please let it be a Hunter.

Kaija: Ahh, so you're a hunter, interesting, shouldn't you be bigger?

Scorpio glared at her.

Taurus: So you're a Communicator?

Kaija: Retired, but we have serious problem in my town.

Virgo: Does it involve the attacks and disappearances

Kaija: I'm afraid so, even the recent death of the doctor is involved.

Scorpio perked up.

Scorpio: The doctor was murdered.

Kaija: Yes, by the same entity that's responsible for everything else. And I have an idea of who it is.

Scorpio: Well go on.

Kaija: it's a young women with long black hair with a child in her arms, I never saw her face though.

Virgo: That's sound familiar.

Scorpio: The lady from the motorcade?

Kaija: You saw her?

Virgo: Yes we did, and I saw her face, I can definitely point it out.

Kaija: That's great, we should continue this tomorrow, let's wait for the other exorcists to come.

They all agreed and went off to their rooms.

Virgo was in a deep slumber until he felt a presence watching him.

Virgo slowly opened his eyes and saw a a tall figure silhouetted in the moonlight.

Just as Virgo was about to yell a hand covered his mouth.

The figured moved closer to his face only to reveal that it was Scorpio that was watching him

Scorpio with a finger over his mouth.

Scorpio: Shhhh, there's something here.

Scorpio slowly removed his hand, and went over to wake up Taurus.

Virgo: Stop, I'll wake her up, you psycho.

Scorpio: Whatever.

After waking up Taurus (still dazed) the three of them made their way outside their room.

They see a figure holding a flashlight.

Benny: What are guys doing up?

Scorpio: There's something inside the house.

Suddenly they hear glass shatter down the hall where Kaija sleeps.

They all ran towards her room.

Virgo: Its locked, I can't open it!

Benny: Mom! Open the door!

*no response*

Scorpio: Watch out!

Scorpio stepped back and rushed towards the door.

Before Scorpio could make contact, the door flung open, and Scorpio ran into the wall.

Scorpio: ouch...

Virgo: Are you ok?

Scorpio: I'm fine, just a headache.

Benny: Mom! Wake up.

Taurus walls over to Kaija and checks her pulse.

Taurus: She's gone.

Scorpio: How?

Virgo carefully inspects her body and notices bruising around her throat.

Virgo: Looks like she was strangled.

Scorpio quickly searched around the house to check for any signs of forced entry. While Taurus tried comforting Benny.

Virgo brings Taurus to the side.

Virgo: Do you think you can, you know...

Taurus: It's too late, I can't bring her back.

Scorpio came running back into the room.

Scorpio: Doors and windows still secured, no signs of anyone coming in or out.

Virgo: Something opened the door before you ran in.

Benny: Useless, you guys are useless.

Scorpio: What?

Benny: Why couldn't you do anything?

Scorpio: Hey listen here you b...

Taurus: Scorpio!

Virgo walked up to Benny and placed his hand on her head.

Virgo: Sleep.

Benny suddenly went to sleep.

Virgo: She's in shock, we'll let her rest. In the meantime let's clean this up and prep the body.

Taurus spent all night cleaning the room and preparing Kaija's body.

Scorpio was up all night checking the perimeter and guarding the house.

In the morning Benny woke up and walked downstairs.

The house has been evacuated and the only people remaining was Virgo who was reading a book, Taurus was cleaning the windows and Scorpio was in the kitchen cooking.

Benny: Hi.

Taurus: Benny!

Taurus ran over and hugged her.

Benny: Where is she?

Virgo: Still in her bed, we wanted to wait for you, before we do anything.

Scorpio walks in carrying food.

Scorpio: Breakfast is....ready. Benny.

Benny nodded.

The rest of the day of the was quiet, Benny spent the time preparing for her mother's funeral.
