Knot My Sin: Chapter 27
Knot My Sin (Unhingedverse)
Iâm wrapped around Wren and donât want to move. We spent the night getting up to an alarm every four hours to wake her up and ask her questions, and then crashed again. Sheâs finally off her IV drip, and Iâm very comfortable right now.
âAmbrose,â she whimpers, wiggling against me. Everest is currently curled up on the other side of me, and Shaw is cuddling with Flynn along the bottom of the bed. We didnât even bother moving.
âWhat, honey?â I ask, kissing her hair.
âI have to pee,â she says adorably, making me bark out a laugh.
Letting her go, I watch as she gets up, walking quickly for the bathroom.
âThat was really cute,â Everest chuckles, sitting up as he stretches. I hear the toilet flush and then the shower turn on, frowning.
âShe didnât take one last night,â Flynn says sleepily from the bottom of the bed. âIâm starving. What time is it?â
Picking up my phone from the nightstand, I blink at the time in surprise. âItâs almost eleven in the morning,â I tell them.
âIâll get food cooking, and check on our guest,â Shaw says, kissing Flynn on the cheek. âIf youâre up to it, why donât you go help our omega with her hair?â
âUgh, all of the pins,â he groans. âWren, let me help!â
Getting up, he walks to the door and pushes it open, where Wren is currently trying to get the hairpins out and crying. Standing, I walk quickly over to her in panic.
âHoney, whatâs wrong?â I ask her, eyes wide.
âI was trying to get the pins out, but I didnât expect my side to be so sore,â she says, her face screwed up in annoyance and pain.
Itâs really cute.
Moving to the water, I shut it off, chuckling. âFlynn and I will get these out for you,â I say, getting started on pulling out the pins.
Thereâs blood in her hair, making me swallow hard as Flynn and I work together. Blood doesnât ever bother me, but itâs a reminder of how we almost lost her. Her hair slowly releases down her back, a mixture of brown and red twists and curls.
Itâll go back to just being brown once Flynn washes out the blood. Flynn and I exchange a glance before he pulls his shirt up and over his head.
âCome on, Little One,â he says. I turn her around, twisting the fabric of her shirt around my fingers at the hem of it with my brow raised for permission.
At her nod, I lift it over her head, noticing that the bruising is traveling up her side from the taser and her fight with Trey. Itâs a myriad of black and purple, making it difficult for her to move.
I drop to my knees to help her undress until sheâs naked and able to get into the shower that Flynn turned back on. Blowing out a breath, I leave them to get clean together, knowing Wren is in good hands.
Leaving the bathroom, I find the bedroom is empty, and continue into the hall. Making sure to close the door behind myself, I walk toward the stairs.
âHow is she?â Jasper asks, stepping into my path and surprising me. I know he didnât walk out of thin air since the door to his room is right there, but since I was distracted, I didnât notice.
âSheâs sore,â I tell him honestly. âFlynn and I just helped her get the pins out of her hair, and the bruising up her side is pretty bad.â
âSo go easy on the hugs,â he grunts as he falls beside me to continue downstairs.
âYes,â I say with a smirk.
âI need to get back soon, but whatâs the next step?â he asks. âIs Wren safe here?â
âCorbin has his brother under lock and key, and weâve killed most of the rats at this point,â I admit. âThe boss knows heâs going to need new point men while we transition to other positions.â
âThat almost sounds like corporate speak for youâre breaking up with him,â Jas teases me. âI donât think the mafia works like that.â
He knows as well as I do that it doesnât.
âYouâre right, but Corbin can see the writing on the wall, and doesnât want to lose us,â I rumble. âWeâve been run ragged for years, and he needs more people. The three of us also want to be able to work from home more.â
âYouâre lucky that Corbin is willing to do this, but heâs always had a soft spot for your pack,â he admits. âThis house is so isolated, itâs good that youâll be home more.â
âThat doesnât mean Wren isnât going to want to work either,â I remind him as we walk into the kitchen.
âAisling has been blowing up Flynnâs phone,â Everest says, chewing a piece of bacon against the counter. âShe wants an update on our girl.â
âI figure she wonât believe anything that doesnât come from Wren,â Shaw says with a shrug. âThey bonded hard last night.â
âI saw,â Jas rumbles, amused. âThe squealing was adorable. My sister never really had friends growing up, so it was fun to see. Sheâll need friends in this life. Iâm also not against her working.â
âItâll be nice for her to have a distraction too,â Shaw murmurs as he makes stuffed chicken breast with spinach and bacon. âSheâs going to have a lot to process.â
âWhere will they work from?â Jasper asks. âIâm just trying to see if you guys agree with her working from an office building.â
âWhy would Aisling need to spend overhead money for a new organization on an office?â Everest asks, looking out the window at our huge backyard. âI can see the perfect space for a cute little she-shed for their business. Shaw, I think we need to go to the store today for supplies.â
Shaw snorts as he cooks, shaking his head. âYeah, that actually would be the perfect solution. I think I trust Aisling enough to give her the address too, when itâs set up that is.â
âDoes that fit with your cookie cutter idea of us?â I tease Jasper.
âGod, I didnât mean it like that,â he groans. âYouâve never been the stereotype, but I feel like thereâs certain questions I should still ask as her brother.â
âWren and the pack are a learning process,â I sigh. âWeâve had ups and downs, and weâre still figuring each other out. But sheâs ours, so weâll continue to find our way through.â
âGood, because if you gave me a bullshit answer, I might have to punch you,â Jasper says with a smirk.
By the time Wren and Flynn come down, lunch is ready, and weâre laughing and chatting.
âHey, Sweetness,â Shaw murmurs as she comes in with wet hair and sweats. âHow are you doing?â
âIâm sore, but I found some CBD lotion in the cabinet,â she says with a small smile. âItâs starting to feel better. Remind me never to get tasered again.â
âI have been,â I remember, wincing. âIt really fucking sucks.â
âBastard hit her with it twice I think,â Flynn says, frowning. âItâs kind of jumbled because of the sedative.â
âThe bruising is still pretty awful,â I mutter. âDid you put arnica gel on it too?â
âI did,â Flynn replies with a nod. âThe gel first and then the cream for relief. The heat of the shower helped though.â
âHungry?â Shaw asks, grabbing plates to start serving.
âStarving,â she admits. âDid I miss anything? Itâs so nice to have the blood out of my hair.â
âThings I never thought Iâd hear my sister say,â Jasper grunts. âApparently your new friend Aisling wants to make sure youâre okay.â
âReally?â she asks, surprised. I donât think she realizes how easy it is for people to get attached to her.
Flynn picks his phone off the counter, scrolling through the texts with a smirk. âYes,â he chuckles. âPlease call her before she loses her shit.â
Connecting the call, he hands it to her while she stares at it as if itâll bite her.
âBabe, itâs ringing, take it,â Flynn says with a wide grin.
âHello? This has better be Wren,â Aisling says, making us snort.
Jerking into motion, Wren takes the phone from Flynn.
âItâs me, hi,â she says gingerly.
âIâve been calling all night,â Aisling says. âI donât need all the details, that can wait until I come over this afternoon. Do you hear me boys?â
âYes, maâam,â I say immediately, shaking my head. âIâll have Flynn text you the address.â
âWait, seriously?â Aisling asks. âI figured Iâd have to threaten someoneâs knot.â
âIâd like to keep those intact, thank you,â Wren says with a giggle.
âPlease donât,â Jasper groans, pretending to gag as I hide my smile. Heâs too easy to fuck with.
âI guess we can let them keep their knots,â Aisling says with a sigh. Whoever she dates is going to have their hands full. Thatâll be fun to see.
âThanks for that,â Wren mutters. âI promise Iâm okay. Are you really coming over later?â
âYes,â Aisling says immediately. âIs four alright?â
Wren glances at us, and I nod. Itâs her house too.
âThatâs fine. Iâll have Flynn text you the address now. Be safe,â Wren says.
Biting my lip, I think about that.
âDo you want one of us to pick you up?â I ask Aisling. âIâm dropping Jasper back at his car today, it wouldnât be any trouble.â
âNo, Iâll be good, thanks. Dad has bulletproof glass on the SUV windows, and Iâm bringing my gun and knife. See you later, Wren!â
Shaking my head as the call disconnects, I watch as Flynn takes the phone and texts her.
âLetâs eat, and we can plan for Hurricane Aisling,â Shaw teases as he brings the plates to the kitchen table by the large front window.
Rolling her eyes, Wren walks over to sit. I am noticing sheâs a lot more comfortable around us, and it makes me stop worrying that sheâs going to leave us for some reason. I shouldnât be thinking this at all, but our life is a lot. A part of me still will worry until Iâm bonded with her.
Crowded around the table, we tuck into our food, and I have to admit it hits the spot.
âYou should cook more, Shaw,â I say as I swallow. âFlynnâs food is always delicious, but this is really fucking good.â
âIt is,â Flynn says with a nod. âWe need to make this again.â
Wren takes another bite making a happy sound, which is adorable. Jasper sneaks peeks at her, and I canât imagine being away from someone for so long. His sister is a completely different person now.
âSo it sounds like youâre going into business with your new best friend,â Shaw says as he eats. Wrenâs eyes widen as she takes a bite, nodding because her mouth is now full.
âWould you be okay working from the house if you had a dedicated space for it?â Everest asks. âIt would lower your overhead, and youâd be able to help more people.â
âCan we help with start-up costs?â Flynn asks. âI think itâs amazing that youâre doing this.â
âI want to do this on my own merit, but I donât know how much itâs going to take to get this off the ground,â she sighs. âThereâs so many things that omegas need.â
âHave a fundraiser,â Jasper says. âPeople will open their pocketbooks for a fancy party and a good cause.â
âItâs Minnesota, they also like their fights,â I remind him.
Jasper rolls his eyes, grunting. âOkay, we can set up an underground fight, and have the winnings from the betting go toward the non-profit Wren and Aisling are starting.â
âWait, whatâs happening right now?â Wren asks, confused.
âYour brother is now the manager for a lot of very talented underground fighters,â I explain. âMost of it is in Illinois, but would your boss be willing to lend some fighters to the cause?â
âYeah, Iâll ask him. We donât fuck with the auctions or skin trades either,â Jas says. âTommy knows why Iâm against it, and itâs never been a palatable source of income for him. Heâs got little sisters, one of whom is an omega. He always complains about lack of services, so I think heâd be interested in helping.â
âYeah?â Wren asks with wide eyes.
âYep, give me a second. Iâll clear it with him now,â he says, eating his last bite of food before he stands. âThis was really fucking good, Shaw.â
âGlad to hear it,â my alpha says, color rising in his cheeks. His cooking isnât something people usually compliment him on.
Jasper steps out of the kitchen to call Tommy, and I raise my brow at my omega.
âThatâs one thing checked off,â I say, smiling. âThe next thing is where youâll work.â
âWe probably donât need much space,â she says, confused.
âOmegas need their own space, Wren,â Flynn reminds her gently. âAisling may stab one of us otherwise.â
Wren snickers, because she knows itâs true.
âIf you wonât let us put money toward your organization, then weâre making you an office building,â Everest says. âI saw a she-shed once, and I think itâs a great idea for this.â
âA what?â Wren asks, confused.
Pulling out my phone, I show her a picture of what they can look like. Itâs a small building that she can customize however sheâd like.
âIâm going into town today to get some supplies with Shaw, probably after lunch,â Everest says. âWhat are things youâd need if you could customize your own office?â
Eyes sparkling, she starts telling us all the things sheâd want before stopping.
âAisling should be part of this conversation. We should wait, right?â she says, lip pouting.
âNah,â Flynn says, video calling Aisling.
âMiss me already?â she says with a smirk. âWhatâs up?â
âWeâre designing you and Wren a she-shed,â I tell her, popping my head over Flynnâs shoulder. âWren wants you to help us plan.â
âAre you serious right now? Our own space?!â Aisling squeals. Flynn gives Wren a knowing look, making her shake her head at him.
Flynn props the phone up so we can all see her, and I start clearing the table with Everest.
âItâs our contribution to your new organization,â Shaw explains. âItâll be in the backyard, surrounded by the flowers Everest is planting, but most of all, itâll be safe.â
âSafe is good. My dad was just asking me about this, despite my reminder that I can take care of myself,â Aisling says.
âIâll call him and tell him youâll be safe on our property,â Shaw says.
âThe security is insane,â Wren whispers theatrically.
Wren and Aisling excitedly talk through everything they need or want for their new place of business, and I pull out some paper to write it all down.
âIâm going to give you a crash course on technology, Wren,â Shaw says. âIâm also ordering you a phone and a laptop.â
âDo I really need either?â Wren asks, confused.
Aisling stares at Wren for a second, and I know sheâs trying to figure her out. Good luck on that. Iâm sure theyâre going to have a long talk very soon.
âYes,â Aisling says. âIâll answer any questions you may have too. Itâs time to join the world of technology, Wren.â
Thatâs all she says as she suggests some built in bookcases, so that theyâll have more storage and Wrenâs hazel eyes light up.
I canât fucking wait to see how this plays out. Anything that makes Wren happy is a win.
Aisling and I are curled up in the living room, and the house is pretty quiet. Amb is somewhere in the house with Flynn, having dropped my brother off at his car already. Shaw and Everest are currently at the store getting all the materials for our she-shed, which Iâm still in awe about.
Jasperâs boss also agreed to the fundraiser idea, and the taboo aspect of it drawing in more donations for a walk on the wild side. Lastly, I also have a phone and laptop ordered, and have a basic idea of how to use them.
âSo,â Aisling says, chewing on her lip. âAre you Amish or something? Is that why you donât know how to use technology? Or were you in some kind of weird cult? Please blink twice if you need help.â
Blankly staring at her, I blink twice before bursting into giggles at her horrified look.
âI was not in a cult, nor am I Amish,â I tell her with a grin. âJasper is my brother.â
âOkay, I didnât see that,â she murmurs. âYou can tell me if Iâm overstepping, but every time you say things like I donât need a phone, Iâm worried youâre in a situation you need to be pulled out of. Your pack looks like they worship the ground you walk on though.â
Thinking over the last month, I nod. âThey do now, and I believe that. We didnât have the easiest of starts,â I admit. âThey actually bought me at an auction. My brother has been trying to find me, and he asked them for help.â
âWhat?â she gasps. âIs that why youâre so passionate about helping omegas?â
âIt is,â I say. Slowly, the entire story comes rolling out, and Aisling holds my hand with wide eyes, brushing away tears here and there. I also tell her about last night with a few amendments, and how I killed Trey.
âFuck yes!â she cheers just as the guys walk through the door.
âWeird way to say hello, but okay,â Everest calls out as he and Shaw pop their heads into the room.
Aisling wrinkles her nose at him, brushing away the last of her tears.
âI hope you know how incredible your omega is,â she says. âThis girl is going to change the fucking world.â
âWe know,â Shaw says with a small grin, winking at me. âWeâre going to unload the SUV and grab Flynn and Amb to help us. Need anything?â
âNo, I think weâre good,â I tell him with a smile.
Shaw still walks into the kitchen, bringing us a pitcher of water, glasses, and a platter of cheese and crackers.
âNow youâre better,â he says, kissing my forehead before he jogs out of the room. âWeâll check in later. Flynn! Amb! Get your asses down here.â
âBossy, but sweet,â Aisling says with a smirk as she pours herself some water. âNow that weâve gotten the hard stuff out of the way, letâs get to planning.â
Pulling out a notebook, she takes in my raised brow with a shrug.
âYou should know how to use technology, but paper and pen work just fine,â she teases me.
The rest of the afternoon is spent discussing every need an omega may have in our society, and how we can help. Itâs not going to be an easy job, but we have all the time in the world to accomplish it.
If even one omega is able to have a better chance at navigating life than Aisling and I did, then itâll be worth it.
