Chapter 14
Fake Vow True Luna
#Chapter 14: The Eviction
âI thought for sure that you would never forgive me.â
My eyes widened a bit. I knew what Nathan was talking about: the day that my dad. and I got evicted.
It was more than ten years ago, but I still remembered the pain and the humiliation.
like it was just yesterdayâ¦
âOlivia. Wake up.â
I was sleeping in my bed in the little house that my dad and I called home. I
remembered that I was supposed to go to school in the morning.
âFive more minutes,â I grumbled, rolling over.
My dad shook my shoulder again, this time more violently. âLiv, you have to wake
up,â he said. âWe have to go. Hurry up and get dressed.â
I frowned and slowly sat up. My dad was standing over me with a worried
expression on his face, and when I glanced over at the clock, I saw that it was only
one oâclock in the morning. I had only been asleep for a few hours.
Yawning, I rubbed my eyes. âDad, whatâs going on?â I asked, feeling myself get more
nervous as he threw a pair of pants and a sweater down on my bed for me. âWhere
are we going?â
âHurry up, Kamran!â a gruff male voice shouted from the other room, effectively jolting me out of my sleepiness.
âDad?â I whimpered.
My dad crouched down to my level and firmly took me by both shoulders, looking deeply into my eyes. âOlivia⦠No matter what you hear or see, donât believe it and donât pay it any mind,â he insisted in a low tone of voice. âDonât let anyone convince
you of anything. And stay with me.â
âWhatâs going on?â I asked, but it was too late. My dad rushed out of the room. I
heard raised voices, and I quickly got dressed and ran out to see one of the packâs

He and my dad were standing in the open front doorway. They were speaking in
frantic tones, but my dad stopped speaking when I came out. âCome on, Liv,â he said.
gently, holding his hand out for me as the Beta started to head out the door. âStay
with me.â
I furrowed my brow and took my dadâs hand, forgetting momentarily that I was fifteen and that I no longer saw holding my dadâs hand as âcoolâ. During those
moments while the Beta led us to the Alpha Council and everyone began to come out of their houses in confusion, I felt like a little kid again.
âGet inside.â The Beta practically shoved us into the house where the Alpha Council
was held. I yelped as my foot got caught on the doorframe and I almost fell, but my
dad caught me and led me over to a chair outside the door to the meeting room.
âWait here, Liv,â he said. He pursed his l*ps and ruffled my hair, but there was a
tenseness in his actions that only made me even more nervous. I watched in a state
of shock as he disappeared into the meeting room, leaving me alone with the Beta
acting as my guard.
My dad was in there for a long time. It felt like hours; it was so long, in fact, that I
was almost about to fall asleep in the hard wooden chair when the door suddenly
swung open. I stood abruptly and gasped as a pair of hands shoved my dad out,
making him fall to his hands and knees.
âDad!â I called. I ran over to him and started to help him up.
âIâm fine, Liv,â he reassured me as he stood. I looked up then to see Alpha Colin,
Nathanâs father, standing in the doorway with his arms folded across his chest.
âWhy did you push him?â I asked, standing and holding tightly onto my dadâs arm.
Colin stared down his nose at me, looking me up and down, before he took in a
sharp breath that almost sounded like a hiss.
âGamma Kamran and Olivia Wild⦠You are henceforth banished from the pack.â

My eyes widened. My dad started to pull me away, but I struggled against him and
wrenched my arm away. âWhat?!â I yelled. âWhy? What did we do?â

âLiv, come onâ¦â my dad whispered behind me, but I shook my head and just glared up at Colin with fire in my eyes.
Colin simply chuckled. âKamran, get your kid,â he said. âSheâs being insolent. You are in no position to ask questions, Olivia. Both of you need to leave immediately.â
I felt my dadâs hand on me again, and this time, I was in a state of too much shock.
to resist.
âCan I at least say goodbye to my friends?!â I demanded as my dad pulled me away. I need to say goodbye to Nathan and Alvin!â
âLivâ¦â My dad pulled on my arm again.
This time, Colin put his hand up to stop us, and slowly walked up to me. As he towered over me and bent down to my level, I felt my heart rise into my throat. When he fixed his icy stare on me, I felt as though I would pass out.
âNathan already knows,â he hissed with a mocking grin. âUnlike you, he knows his place and would never want to be friends with a traitor.â
I shook my head stubbornly and puffed my chest out. âI wonât believe you,â 1
growled. âLet me talk to Nathan. Youâre lying.â
Colin sighed and stood once more. âTake your daughter, Kamran,â he said, his face
dark as he stared down at me. âOtherwise Iâll need to handle her myself.â
âLetâs go, Liv.â My dad came up to me again and grabbed me by the wrist, harder
this time.
âNo!â I shrieked, struggling to wriggle free as my dad dragged me away. âLet me see
my friends!â
My dad just grabbed me more firmly. His eyes burned with a sad sort of fire in
them, and he yanked me out the door and onto the front lawn.
âNathan!â I screamed, not caring if I woke up the entire town. âAlvin!â
Suddenly, I saw Nathan appear from around the corner of the building. âNathan!â 1
called, struggling against my dad. âWhatâs happening?! Why are we-â

But my dad put his hand over my mouth to keep me quiet, and picked me up. As he carried me away, my struggle against his strength was futile and all I could do was
stare helplessly at Nathan, who just stood there.
I tried to call out to him in my mind, but our mindlink was cut off.
He did nothing. He just stood there and watched as I was taken away.
âI still donât know the real reason behind why my dad and I were evicted,â I said.
Nathan and I were both standing by the window now. Throughout our
conversation, the winter sun had begun to go down and cast the sky in a purple hue.
My childhood friend said nothing. There was a long silence before I finally turned.
to face him.
âNathan⦠I have another condition of our agreement,â I said.
Nathan slowly turned to look at me with a puzzled expression on his face. âAnother
one?â he asked. âWhat is it?â
I chewed my l*p for a moment, then spoke. âRule number five: as my best friend and
fake lover, I want you to help me investigate the real reason.â
My friend just looked at me for a long time with a sad frown on his face. He shook
his head and stared down at the floor, and my heart sank.
âIâm okay with the other four rules.â Nathanâs voice was low and stern, and when he
looked up at me, his bluish green eyes were cold. âBut rule fiveâ¦â
