Chapter Thirteen: Date Night II
In about a few minutes into midnight we finished our meal and headed to the parking lot as we made
to
âI a great day today.â 1 said.
âMe too. Would you be free by next weekend?â He asked as they walked out through the door.â Preferably Saturday afternoon.â
âUhmm⦠â I tapped my index finger on my left cheek and pretended to be in deep thoughts.
âI donât know if thatâs a bad day but 1 was thinking If you could spare some time to come talk to the children at the club.â He quickly interrupted my thoughts.
âOh yeah, the Club.â I muttered under my breath and whistled lightly.
âFine. Iâll be there for those kids. Iâll cancel all i
plans for that day. Just hold on,â After which I
pulled call through to my personal assistant.
âThere goes one.â
âLet me drive you home.â
âBut we both came with our rides.â
âI can come back for mine later.â
âI want to make sure that you get home safely.â
âCâmon Evans you worry too much and besides Iâm a big girl literally. I can handle myself.â I opened
the door to my car.
âSee you around.â
âYou really are a hardened but to crack. I like it.â He smirked.
âBye Evans.â
The next day, I was seated in my office when I heard a knock.
âCome in,â Jane pulled the open.
âWhat is it Jane?â
âThere is someone see you.â
âLast Iâd checked the schedule for , I donât expect any visitors and have no scheduled
appointment so Iâm a bit surprised.â
âHe said it is important that he sees you.â
âWhat did he say his name â
â
âHe chose to keep it anonymous.
âOkay let him in.
I gasped in surprise and excitement when Evans entered.
âOk Evans itâs you! The anonymous guest. âI tried to hide the excitement but it was clear now that I
was happy to see him.
âWere you expecting anyone else?â
â1 sure wasnât,â I walked over to him as I went in for a hug. Even If I tried so hard to not let him in, I could not deny the fact we shared a very strong chemistry. I pulled away from him and his eyes caught mine again and I looked away smilin
âYou know you have such a pretty smile and I feel extremely blessed each time I see you do that.â He added flatteringly when he noticed my cheek slowly rising.
âGreat place you have here.â He said as he looked around the office. The office was truly phenomenal and offered some sort of psychological calmness to almost everyone who stepped in. A TV set hung on the wall along with a few photos. It was Angelaâs idea. She it was better it spoke volumes of my achievements although I did not really fancy it. An electric screen was placed just beside the TV set and on it was displayed the top profile cases I had worked on, the estate and large deals I had sealed in the previous years.
âThank you.â I said in honest appreciation and pinching myself to stay calm and composer surprised to see you here and happy too. How did you know my office?â
âYou are popular now so your office location wasnât so hard to find.â
âWhat brings you here?â
âI was passing by and I thought itâll be nice to drop by and at least say hello or hi or perhaps, something a little longer.â He replied.
Is it a bad habit to stay up in the office and chat with a lover?â He questioned but quickly choked changing the topic. Perhaps he had gone a little too far with the loverâ description. âI was in the neighborhood and thought to stop by and I wanted to know how the campaign was going?â
âPretty slow. When I first saw this picture I thought it would be easy but from here itâs pretty choking. No fundings, noâ¦
âNo funding? That sounds so .â
âI know right. Thomas has all the access to all the money. I didnât even know what I was thinking when I agreed to do this.â
âHey, slow down, donât be too hard on yourself. I know that you got
âBut how?
canât do this without the money.â
âThat should not be a problem. I would help with that.â
Chapter Thirteen Tate Night !!
âEvans no, I donât want to put this on you.â
âYou arenât putting anything on me. I choose to do this. I want to do this.â
âBut why?â
âBecause Iâ¦
At that moment a soft tap on the door interrupted us. Jane walked in just at that moment with a bag in her hand.
âFrom the delivery guy, Mr Evans.â
âMcDonalds. What is this about?â I asked he received the package.
âThank you very much, Jane. I ordered this before I arrived here so we would an early lunch together.â
âThatâs so thoughtful butâ¦â
âCome on⦠No buts here. It would just be the two of us.â I smiled as he spoke about , it felt warm.
âOkay, thatâs .â
He opened the package and took out the plate of ice cream and bag of popcorn.
âPeppermint is my favorite. How did you know itâs my favorite.â
âItâs my favorite too.â
âWow, I didnât realize we so much in common.â He chuckled as he took out two plastic spoons
and gave one to me.
âWho would have thought eating ice cream and popcorn in a Regina Miles office and one of the finest in the state, would be so much fun?â He teased which cracked us up as we burst into laughter.
With Evans time flew fast as it was almost three hours when we realized that it was far spent.
As he turned to leave, he stopped if to say something, only to move again.
âHey, what is it?â I asked piqued with curiosity.
âItâs nothing, Iâm I have to go now.â
âHey, donât say that. Talk to me.â
âI just donât want to say goodbye. It hurts me every time that I to leave. But itâs fine I to go now. Iâll put a call through to you.â With those words went out through the door. As soon as he walked out streams of mixed emotions engulfed me.

She asked with a penetrative gaze that pierced through my soul.
âI donât know.â I replied in a disappointed tone.
âHe said something about us being lovers thoughâ¦â I began and smiled when Jane interrupted to ask if he really did that.
âYeah, he did. He said that.â I took a glance at my wrist watch and was surprised to find that it was already a couple minutes past work hours. âCâmon, why didnât you tell me we were past working hours?â I quizzed with a feigned frown. Jane glanced at her own wrist watch and was surprised to see it was just she said.
âOops I didnât know, Iâm so sorry.â
âWhat are you apologizing for?â
asked as I left the seat to arrange my stuff.
âLetâs go already.â
