Chapter 19
REGINA MILES- A BILLIONAIRE STORY ( Thomas Miles )
Chapter Nineteen: Everything is Revealed
My subconscious replayed the events at the car the first day we had been together. Fucking him had made my life brighter. I had fallen in love with him so deeply that everything else pales in comparison to the peace I felt when I was in his arms.
âBabeâ¦â
He tapped my hand softly, and I drifted back to the present. My hands were too tight around his neck. I had been so lost in my fear of losing him that I nearly strangled him.
âWhatâs on your mind, darling?â Evans whispered in my ears; I could perceive the thin smell of the coffee we earlier.
âNothing, I just have a lot on my mind,â I replied, squeezing his fingers that were in front of me.
âWhatâs on your mind, dear? You have that look,â he asked again.
âWhat look?â
âThe one that brings the lines to your face.â
I turned toward him.
âWhy do you avoid telling me about your family or about your personal life? Youâve known me for months now, and you know almost everything about but I canât say the same for you.
I looked into his eyes. He tried to avoid mine, and it hurt me that he would want to do that. Furiously,
I sat upwards on the bed, folding my arms across my breasts. âIâd tell you all about it later.â
He tried to hold me.
âThatâs what always say, Evans.â I replied, looking at him. My chest felt tightened as I was still
furious.
âThis conversation is pointless Iâm going to
â
, thatâs what you have to say to me? Look, Iâm trying to trust you here.ââ
âTrying to? So all this while Iâve just been a puppet for you?â
âItâs not like that, Evans; you know I mean â
âCâmon Regina, would not want to ruin the beautiful night we just shared. Letâs not end it like this.â
âWell, you started it.â
With those words, I adjusted, putting blanket over my head prepared to to sleep, leaving Evans by himself sitting in the dark. By dawn, I all dressed and headed out, every apology that he had to make.

âWhy the long face, Regina? Yesterday you left here all grining, and now you havenât said a worsh since you returned. What happened?â
âWe had the best time, but I donât know why he wouldnât want to tell me about his familyâ
âI thought he did.â
âWell, not in the way that I want,â
âHave you tried talking to him about it
âYou think I havenât? He just keeps looking for excuses not to tell me. I think he is hiding something. Maybe he doesnât love me enough to want to let me know about them. I knew this a mistakeâ
âYou need to calm down, Regina; I think you are overthinking this.â
âI have known him for six months now; is that not enough time?â
âBut you have refused to become a thing with him; maybe thatâs why he still feels insecure about itâ
âWhy are you giving excuses to him anyway? I thought you were on my side.â
âI am on your side. But we have to be realistic about things. Maybe he could be going through a lot.â
âAt least he should have mentioned it to me.â
âWell, why were you being jiggled at his place? Something great happened.â
âWhat happened?â
âYou have more points now than Thomas. Technically, everyone likes you.â
âWow, let me see.â I took a quick glance at the page, which stretched my lips in a smile.
âSomething to lighten my mood. This is good. Angela, this is good. I think I have a shot at this.â
âYes, you do.â
The next day started as soon as I got to work, but as I walked down the hallway, I couldnât help but notice the stares from the people who walked past me. It felt like their gaze penetrated through my. skin; most of them chuckled as they saw me pass by.
I did not wait to exchange pleasantries with the lady at the counter as I hastened into my office. Leaning behind the door.
âWhat could be wrong?â I thought to myself, and just then I heard a knock on the door. It would be Jane bringing the files in, and so I sat upright, forcing out a smile as she walked in, but she did not have her usual morning glow as she walked .
âGood morning, ; these are the files to be worked on today. You have a meeting by noon with the people for Kinks Company.
She dropped the document as she was about to leave. I looked at her face for an expression, maybe

something I would work with; that would explain why the rest of the staff had a long face as I walked in all morning, but there she was in a mood that had no meaning; I just couldnât place it, and the more she walked away, the more my curlosity got to Itâs peak. I needed to know that after all, still their .
âJane,â I called out she turned towards me.
âYes, maâam.â
âWhatâs going on?â I asked.
âIâm so sorry.â
Her apology didnât just catch up, and I became even more inquisitive.
âWhatâs going on? What are you sorry for?â
âThe video,â
âWhat video?â
âHave you seen this, maâam? Itâs all over the internet.â
Jane showed me her phone as a video played on the screen.

I took the phone and watched closely, keenly staring.
I was
âWhat am I looking at? Hold on, this looks familiar, oh my God!â I gasped. It was the night at Evans apartment when we spent it together. Every action and every word we was replayed right in front
me.
â
so sorry, maâam.â
âHow did this⦠How did this get out? Who filmed this?â
Tears fell freely from my eyes from within my tightened chest. I could not believe what I was looking at. It explained a lot nowâeveryoneâs behavior as I walked down the hallway.
âThis is not good. This is not good at all.â
âIâm so sorry,â she kept on saying.
âStop saying that! Did you do this?â
âNo, of course not, maâam.â
âThen stop apologizing; itâs pissing me off!â I snapped.
âWho did this?
did this get out?â My hands trembled, and I dropped the phone on the desk.
âIt came in as an email; we all saw it this morning when we came to work.â
âWhere is my laptop?â I searched around for it.
âGet me a laptop this minute!â

âWe have tried to bring it down, but whoever uploaded this sure is using very advanced technology.â
âGet me professional tech personnel right now!â
âYes, maâam.â
As she left, my mind drifted into thoughts on who would have done this. Thomas was my first suspect, but how could he have gotten access to Evans abode? He desperately wanted the mayorâs position, and then Evans came to mind.
âNo, it canât be him. I shouldnât. My heart wonât take it.â I wiped tears from my eyes.
Just then, my phone rang. It was Thomas.
âOh God!â
