Chapter 123
My Ex-Wife Is A Big Shot In Disguise
Chapter 123
âHuh?â
Morris was stunned for a moment and did not know how to answer.
He couldnât possibly tell his boss that Madison looked quite happy, right? After all, it was a divorce, not a wedding. However, he could not quite bring himself to lie and say that she looked sad.
Morris deliberated for a moment and said carefully, âShe did not seem to have any. reaction. She just said that she will see you at four in the afternoon.â
A cold sneer came from the other end of the line. âNo reaction at all? Yeah right, she was probably laughing her head off.â
The last sentence sounded like it was said through gritted teeth.
Morris was silent for a beat before saying seriously, âThat does seem like an exaggerated description.â
If he remembered correctly, Madison only had a faint smile on her face. Although she looked quite happy, she had not burst into raucous laughter at the thought of divorcing
Leo.
Hearing this, it was Leoâs turn to be silent.
After another ten seconds of silence, he hung up the call abruptly.
Morris was left utterly speechless.
Meanwhile at the hospital, a man stood in front of the window to the patient ward, looking absolutely livid. He looked down at the phone in his hand, its screen dimming. His fingers were wrapped around the gadget so tightly that it was nearly crushed into fragments.
An exaggerated description? Yeah right!
âLeoâ¦
Behind him, Sallyâs weak voice slowly sounded.
Leo turned around before he could restrain the hostility in his eyes. âWhatâs the
matter?â
Sally was shocked by the hostility in his gaze. For a moment, she thought she saw the man in a silver mask staring down at her ominously again. In that instant, a suffocating fear overwhelmed her.

She shook her head in fear. âI-Iâm fine. I just wanted to say that if you have something to do, you can go back to the company first. Iâm⦠fine here. You donât have to stay here.
all the time.â
Perhaps it was because Leoâs face had truly terrified her, but she looked rather pitiful
now.
Leo had already rearranged his features. His face returning to his usual indifference, he said, âI donât have anything to do today. I just need to go out in the afternoon and settle the divorce procedures.â
Happiness flashed across Sallyâs eyes.
However, she suppressed it instantly. âDid Madison⦠agree?â
Leo sat down on the sofa in the ward. He paused and sneered, âIâm afraid she canât wait to get a divorce.â
His resentful tone was like a bucket of cold water being poured on Sallyâs head, washing away the joy from just a few seconds ago..
No matter how stu pid she was, she could tell that Leo was unwilling to go through with the divorce.
However, he did not seem aware of that himself.
Sally raised her gaze and looked at the manâs cold side profile. She bit her l*p and said, âLeo, if you donât want to divorce Madison, then tell her properly. She liked you so much in the past. Iâm sure sheâs reluctant now too.â
Leo frowned and looked up. âAre you going to get these foolish ideas like my mother?â
Sallyâs eyes immediate/v
filled with tears when he heard his cold words.
âLeo, I know youâre already very disappointed in me now. You probably donât want to marry me anymore. Initially, I thought putting an end to my life would be a good idea. Unfortunately, I didnât manage to kill myself, and now Iâve become the brunt of everyoneâs jokes.
âIâve let my sister down in the past. Iâll get my mother to return those things to her. As for the money, I didnât force her to take it. Just treat it as me making up for my mistakes in the past. I wonât use my illness as an excuse anymore. A mistake is a mistake.
âLastly, Iâve troubled you for the past two days because of me. Donât worry. I wonât disturb you again in the future. You can live a good life without meâ¦
Sally choked as she spoke and squeezed out two drops of tears from her eyes. She looked utterly pitiful.

Leo frowned even more. âSally, I didnât say that I wouldnât marry you.â

The woman on the bed was stunned for a moment, as if she did not understand what
he meant.
Leo got up from the sofa and looked at her. âDonât let your imagination run wild. I wonât go back on my word.â
Sally was overjoyed.
She originally thought that the whole affair would have angered Leo beyond measure. At the very least, she could not afford to bring up his promise to marry her any time
soon.
Hence, she decided to make concessions for the sake of advance. She did not expect it. to be effective so quickly.
âBut Iâve done so many wrong thingsâ¦â
Sally did not seem overly happy. Instead, she looked rather uneasy.
Leo was silent for a moment.
Indeed, when he found out about her involvement, he had considered going back on his promise to marry her.
The man tapped his fingers against his thigh and said in a deep voice, âItâs good that you recognize your mistakes. Donât do it again in the future.â
Sally nodded repeatedly. âI know I was wrong. Moreover, Iâve paid such a costly price this time that I have learnt the error of my ways completely. I promise I wonât do anything to my sister in the future.â
Leo hummed softly and did not say anything else.
It was likely that he would never contact Madison again after the divorce. Marrying Sally was unlikely to cause both of them any trouble.
Meanwhile, to compensate Madison for the wrongs she had suffered, he would rewrite the divorce agreement to grant her some redress.
After that, they would not contact each other again.
The ward was silent for a while before Sally could not help but speak. âBy the way, Leo, may 1 ask where you were last night?â
âIt was raining heavily last night and there was even thunder. I couldnât get through to you even when I called youâ¦â
Chapter 123
Leo was in a daze.
He thought of Madison, who had been frightened back into a child last night, and the scars on her b*dy, as well as her snow-white skin under the numerous scars, and the fragrance that wrapped around himâ¦.
âLeo?â
Sally called out to him, staring straight at him.
Leo came back to his senses. His eyes seemed to have dimmed slightly. âSend me the design of any gowns you like. Also, let me know if you have a ring design you want. I just remembered that I have a few things to settle. Iâll leave first, then.â
As soon as he finished speaking, he left without responding to Sallyâs question.
As the door of the ward swung gently close, the gentle face of the woman on the bed. instantly darkened.
She looked at the message she had received on her phone and was so angry that she wanted to smash it!
That wench, Madison!
The message on the phone was sent by the masked man. The sender had a blank profile picture, and was identifiable only by a letter âC. It was similar to Leoâs profile, but his had a letter âFâ instead.
The message informed her that Leo had remained in the Palmer family residence the entire night, only to leave this morning. A while later, Madison had left the same residence with a smiling Amber.
In other words, Madison and Leo had spent the night together at the Palmer familyâs residence yesterday night.
With Amber playing matchmaker, who knows if the two of them had slept in the same
room?
With a thunderstorm raging in the background, it was difficult to believe that nothing. happened between them in that room.
When Sally saw the last few words of the message, she was so angry that she wanted to block this sender forever.
But she didnât dare.
After taking a deep breath, she replied.

âSally Hale: Leo has agreed to marry me. He will go through the divorce procedures with Madison this afternoon.â
The other party suddenly stopped sending lecherous messages.
Instead, he sent a congratulatory message.
A smile finally appeared on Sallyâs face, but it froze immediately as she read the next
message.
âC: I hope you can successfully register your marriage and hold a wedding. Otherwise⦠you know.
