Chapter 40
My Ex-Wife Is A Big Shot In Disguise
Chapter 40
Leo leaned against the car door, his neatly combed hair tousled by the wind, adding a touch of roguish charm to his dignified demeanor. When Madison walked over, he straightened his posture nonchalantly while his eyes darkened slightly upon seeing the man beside her.
The night wind blew, carrying a hint of chilliness. Madison draped Joeâs suit jacket over her shoulders, still feeling cold. Without looking at the man before her, she walked forward with Samuel. Just like what she did earlier, she brushed past him. However, Leo didnât remain indifferent as he did inside. He turned to block her path.
âWhat exactly do you want, Mr. Palmer?â Madison intended to ignore him and leave, but many people were milling around, including the media. Although Madison and Leo were not from the entertainment industry, causing a scene here would undoubtedly lead to online gossip. It would be troublesome.
Leo glanced at her and turned to Samuel. âMr. Smith, thank you for accompanying my wife outside. The event has ended, and I believe my wife should be going home with
me now.â
Samuel was surprised but didnât let go. He remained expressionless. âIf my information. is correct, Mr. Palmer, you have signed a divorce agreement with Miss Madison. Moreover, you are not lacking in the company of another lady. It wouldnât be appropriate to pester your ex-wife, right?â
Although the car window was reflective, they were close enough to see Sally, who was sitting in the car.
Leo seemed to ignore the latter part of Samuelâs statement. âYour information is indeed correct, Mr. Smith. I have indeed signed a divorce agreement with my wife. However, it has not been notarized, nor have the formalities been completed. She is still my wife. Moreoverâ¦â He paused, glancing at Madison before continuing with a smile, âMy wife called me âhoneyâ half an hour ago. It wouldnât be appropriate to deny it now, would it?â
Madison was shocked by Leoâs shameless words. âHow could he say the word âwifeâ without batting an eye?â she wondered. âIf it werenât her brother but a business partner who had accompanied her today, they would probably have been intimidated by Leoâs words and left her.

Madison couldnât help but exclaim, âLeo, stop, okay? Iâve made myself clear, and your intentions are obvious to everyone. Why put on a show in front of a group of outsiders?â
Not only was Leo not angry, but he also said confidently, âSo you do know heâs just an outsider, huh? In that case, is there anything wrong with me going home with my
Madison couldnât help but laugh in exasperation. It was the first time she had seen Leo so adept at changing the subject. Despite talking about one thing, he shifted the conversation to another topic. At the same time, however, she noticed the slightly rolled-down car window. She decided to throw caution to the wind.
âLco, arenât you afraid Iâll take the title âMrs. Palmerâ from Sally and refuse to give it back? When that day comes, youâll never be able to divorce me even if you want to!â
Leo met her furious gaze and suddenly chuckled. âAs of now, it seems like youâre the one eager for a divorce, so what do I have to fear?â
That made sense. Madison wanted to end this as quickly as possible, so the ball was in
his court.
Madison chuckled as well, tilting her head slightly. âMr. Palmer, arenât you afraid that Iâm doing this on purpose? You must have heard of the strategy of letting someone think theyâve caught you. What if Iâm doing it on purpose, just for the title of âMrs. Palmerâ?â
Leoâs smile widened even further, his tone mocking her as if they were old friends who hadnât seen each other in years. Indeed, given their past, they should have been friends. He said, âMadison, your acting skills suck. Iâm not stup id. I can tell when youâre pretending and when youâre genuinely angry.â At least for now, he could easily see through her clumsy acting.
The smile on Madisonâs face immediately vanished. Leo looked at her changing expression and suddenly found that even if she was playing hard to get, it wouldnât be bad to continue this battle with her for the rest of their lives. At least it wouldnât be too boring.
âMr. Palmer, your future fiancée is right here. You always say such things just because she has a good temper. If it were me, I would have slapped you in the face and walked away.â Madison didnât want to continue this game with Leo, so she got Sally involved. He was supposed to care a lot about this woman. She wanted to make Sally cry
and see how he would handle it.
Unfortunately, Leo didnât seem to care at all. He turned to look at Sally and said to Madison, âYou are you, and Sally is Sally. She wouldnât act like you.â
Sally timely spoke up beside them. âMadison, I know youâre still mad at me. It was my fault last time, and I didnât mean to. Iâm sorry. Come back with us. Itâs not safe outside. After all, we grew up together. Weâre family.â
âMadison, since Sally has taken a step back, you should too, okay?â Leo stepped forward to pull her into the car, but before his fingers could touch her, Madison forcefully

pushed him away. She sneered to herself. âSo, my acting sucks, but you think Sallyâs disgusting acting is good? What a blind, clueless man!
Madison looked at Leo as she said, âAlright, I can go back with you.â

Leoâs eyes instantly lit up, and Samuel, who was standing beside her, looked at her in surprise. Sally was even more astonished, a hint of resentment flashing in her eyes.
Madison lowered her head and looked at Sally, saying slowly, âI can go back with you, but I want to sit in the front passenger seat. Also, tell her to get lost.â Her tone was anything but polite!
Leo frowned. âMadison, stop messing around.â
Madison shrugged nonchalantly. âI am who I am, and Sally is Sally. This is just my temperament. If sheâs willing to step back, she might as well give up her seat.â
Sally naturally wasnât willing to give it up. She could pretend to be pitiful, but if she gave it up, it would mean she was admitting her identity as a homewrecker. âClearly, Madison is the homewrecker!â she thought. âIf it werenât for her powerful backing, how would she have the opportunity to be Leoâs wife back then?â
âMadison, do you have to be so unreasonable?â Sally immediately feigned innocence.
Madison smiled. âExactly, this is not your first day meeting me, isnât it?â
Knowing that her acting didnât work on Madison, Sally was so angry that she couldnât speak. She rolled down the car window, no longer listening to the confrontation while hiding in the car. âWhat can a temporary âMrs. Palmerâ do?â she said to herself. âIf I could make Leo send you abroad back then, I can make Leo divorce you! I have to endure a little longer⦠Just wait a little longer!â
âSince you canât meet my demands, thereâs no need for further discussion. Goodbye, Mr. Palmer.â Madison turned her head again. As she took a step, Leo stopped her. âMadison, do you have to sit in the front passenger seat to go home?â
Madison smiled, tilting her head. âYeah, exactly! Havenât I made myself clear enough?â
