Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 1039
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Crystalâs POV:
I was stunned.
Rufusâ presence already caught me off-guard, let alone his questioning. What was he even doing here at this time?
âI said, what were you doing in the forbidden forest?â Rufus stressed, his face turning colder. He gripped my shoulders to prevent me from running away.
Embarrassed, I averted my gaze guiltily and stammered, âI⦠I was taking a walk and made a wrong turn and ended up here. Fortunately, I ran into you. So can you help me get back home?â âIs that so?â Rufus squinted at me inquisitively.
Flustered, I gulped nervously. âY-yes.â
âI see.â Rufus let me go and dropped the subject.
I found his behavior strange. Judging from how he had been treating me since I got here, he wouldnât have given up until he got something out of me.
I stole a glance at him and found that he looked normal, as if he really believed what I said.
Did he⦠change?
Thank God.
âIâm here because of you,â Rufus added emotionlessly.
Hearing this, I became alert again and asked cautiously, âHowâd you know I was here?â
He cast a sidelong glance at me and snorted, âThereâs nothing I donât know here.â
Feeling guiltier, I continued to ask, âSo what else do you know?â
âYouâd like to know that, wouldnât you?â With eyebrows raised, Rufus chuckled.
I nodded honestly. âYes.â
âThen letâs trade. Iâll tell you my secret in exchange for yours.â Rufus slipped his hands into his trouser pockets and looked at me with a casual smile.
I fell silent for a while and quickly gave up the idea of getting any information from him. âForget it. What other secrets can I have? You already know all my secrets.â
Rufus sneered, âReally? I doubt it.â
His strange smile sent a shiver down my spine. Nervous, I quickly changed the topic. âSo whatâs up? Whyâd you want to see me?â
âItâs about Beryl,â Rufus said frankly.
âWhy? Whatâs wrong with Beryl?â I immediately worried that something bad mightâve happened to my daughter.
Rufus looked down at my hand that had subconsciously grabbed his arm, and then brushed it away with a frown. âDonât worry. I just wanted to discuss her educational path with you.â
I withdrew my hand sulkily, regained my composure, and said calmly, âI admit that Beryl is indeed a little naughty. Thank you for taking care of her. Please donât be mad if she causes trouble.â
Rufus rolled his eyes. âThatâs not what I meant.â âThen what do you mean?â I asked impatiently, feeling both confused and annoyed.
âBeryl hasnât regained all her memories yet, and you canât leave the imperial palace either. So I arranged for Beryl to study in the royal kindergarten.â
I frowned. âI donât think thatâs a good idea.â
Once Beryl entered the royal kindergarten, it would be even more difficult for her to leave in the future. Sheâd probably only willingly leave with me if she regained her memory, but judging from the current situation, the possibility was very slim.
âWhy? Donât worry. nobody would dare to bully her. Iâll raise her as a real princess,â
Rufus said gently, his expression softening.
I had mixed feelings about this and didnât know whether to refuse or agree. All things aside, Beryl would definitely benefit a lot from studying in the royal kindergarten.
âAlso, there are still some vacancies for teachers in the kindergarten. Would you like to one, at least temporarily?â Rufus offered.
I mulled over it for a while. Even I had to admit it was an interesting proposal. It would be a good opportunity to cultivate a relationship with Beryl. Besides, the children in the royal kindergarten certainly didnât know me, so it would be much safer for me there.
âOkay, Iâm in.â
Rufus nodded. Smiling slightly, he added, âArron can also go there.â
âIâll need to ask him if he wants to. But I doubt it. Arronâs a little shy.â I refused Rufus vaguely.
Rufus didnât insist. âIn that case, letâs go to the royal kindergarten to get you acquainted with the environment.â
