Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 1052
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Crystalâs POV:
I took my son out for a walk that evening when I received a call from Blair. I declined without a second thought, not wanting to get involved in any trouble.
But Blair was persistent, and kept calling me for the next few minutes. In the end, I had no choice but to find a quiet place to take the call.
âHello, whatâs up?â I asked in a low voice. âDo you have any news about Ian?â
âWhy are you whispering like a thief?â Blair teased, chuckling to herself.
âI donât want Rufusâ men to find me talking to you,â I spoke under my breath, cupping my hand over my phoneâs speaker as I did. I glanced around and sighed in relief when I saw no one. Even so, I knew that there must be someone out there who was spying on me in the dark.
âDonât worry. Rufus wonât tamper with your phone.â Blair sounded confident as he reassured me.
âI sincerely doubt that. Rufus is already suspicious of me. I have no idea what heâs thinking. In any case, I need to take extra precautions and be more careful at this time.â
Blair sighed, and then her tone became serious. âWe havenât found Ian yet. I have something important to tell you, though.â
âAll right, go ahead.â His manner was infectious, and I grew somber as well.
âItâs true that Rufus is suspecting you. The main purpose of this investigation on the border pack is to dig up information about you. I intended to brush him off, but I unexpectedly ran into some other complications while I was investigating.â Blair paused for a moment, and when he continued, his voice seemed to have gone deeper. âMy men caught two spies hidden among the pack. They work for the vampires.â
This surprised me. Since the union of the border packs, we had maintained a relatively peaceful relationship with the vampires. They were still people who liked to make trouble every now and then, of course, but they were easily taken care of. And thankfully, they were wise enough to keep in line after going through severe punishment. The border packs even did business with the vampires, sometimes.
Then again, the vampires at the border only behaved because Hubson was cursed by the black witch, and his power was significantly reduced. If it came down to a full-on battle right now, there was a good chance he wouldnât be able to protect his clansmen. He was right to keep a low profile.
Which was why I was taken aback to learn that they had planted spies in my pack. If the vampires attempted to break the peace, the werewolves would definitely not sit idle and did nothing.
âWhere did you find the spies?â I asked, still keeping my voice low.
âOne was in the army, while the other was among the guards stationed at the city gate.â
I frowned. My heart felt heavy inside my chest. Both the barracks and the city gates had a constant influx of people. It wouldnât be easy to sneak your way in. Those spies must have been well-prepared. Who was behind this? There was only one person I could think ofâHubson.
But Hubson was practically on the verge of death because of the curse on him. He wouldnât have had the strength to hash out such a covert plan, much less put it into action.
I clutched my phone and fell into silence. On the other end, Blair said nothing, either. He was waiting for me to speak first.
âWhat do you think about all of this?â I finally asked.
Blair gave it some thought before saying, âIt must have something to do with Hubson. Some of the spiesâ immediate family members have been transformed into hybrids. That makes them easy prey for pure-blooded vampires. They can be manipulated into doing anything, even into supporting vampires instead. As a matter of fact, it isnât so hard to figure out their reasons for doing this. The problem is that I have no way of knowing just how many of Hubsonâs men have infiltrated our pack.â
âBut Hubson is still suffering from the curse. HeâNo, wait. Wait!â No sooner had I mentioned this than something else occurred to me. âHe was cursed by Noreen⦠Has the curse been removed upon Noreenâs death?â
