Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 1069
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Crystalâs POV:
After guiding the soldiers to the cave where Rufus was, I returned to the Cherry Bay Pack. I slipped into a hunterâs house in the suburbs and stole some clothes. After I put them on, I made my way to the city to check the current situation.
Two more guards were stationed at the city gate. They treated me more strictly than when Iâd come here during the day. They wanted to see something that could prove my identity.
I had left my ID card in my coat, which was now at the cave.
Since I couldnât produce it, I gave the guard an awkward smile and said, âSorry, I forgot to carry it with me.â
Then I turned around and walked away, heading in the direction of the back entrance of the city. There was a crack on the wall I had discovered during my daytime investigation. It could prove to be useful now.
It was quite early in the morning. The city was still brightly lit, and the streets were filled with patrolling soldiers. It looked like something had really occurred this time.
I found a phone booth and dialed Lauraâs number.
She answered quickly and said in an agitated voice when she realized it was me, âYou have finally called me. How is the situation now? Where is Rufus? I received information that the Alpha of the Cherry Bay Pack is dead.â
âThe Alpha is indeed dead. The vampires murdered him. They also intercepted Rufus and his men. Rufus was injured and fell unconscious. He will be brought back to the imperial capital shortly,â I reported concisely to Laura. She exclaimed in anguish when she heard that her son was injured. âWhere did Rufus get hurt? Is his injury serious?â
I remained quiet for a while before answering in a grave voice, âYes, itâs serious. He hasnât woken up yet. I donât have all the details of the situation yet. When I found him, he was already doing poorly. Fortunately, as his mate, I could at least help heal his wounds, ensuring his condition didnât decline. However, his exact state is yet to be determined. He will have to undergo a thorough examination after returning home. The soldiers must have found him by now.â
Laura inhaled deeply and cursed, âHow dare these bastards hurt my son! I will make them pay for it!â
I knew for a fact that both Laura and Rufus were protective of their family members, even if they didnât see eye-to-eye all the times. What was more, the annoying vampires were responsible for this attack. Laura was so enraged that she yelled about making Hubson pay for this. She ranted on the phone for ten minutes, and finally disconnected the call when the minutes in the phone card ran out.
I released a long sigh, rubbed a hand over my face which was about to freeze, and then walked to the city center. Sorrellâs death had unleashed panic among the people of the pack, and the news that vampires had infiltrated werewolf territory had also spread like wildfire. Most people didnât sleep a wink at night. They were terrified that the vampires would attack them, so they gathered around the square downtown to have a discussion of what they should do.
âHow could the vampires sneak in? Was the Alpha I had seen before actually a vampire in disguise?â âHe must have been our true Alpha, but he was already dead. He was assassinated and then his corpse was manipulated by the vampires. Itâs said he has been dead for a month, and his insides are all decomposed.â
âGod damn the vampires! That is so brutal!â
âBut did you hear that the lycan king has arrived?â âWhy is the king here? Is it because of the vampires?â âI donât know. Maybe we will get a chance to meet him.â
âWell, I donât think we can live peacefully. The vampires have created trouble at the border packs before, but now they dare to come closer to the imperial capital. I think the pirates we had heard about before were also vampires.â
âI think so too. Otherwise, how could pirates appear all of a sudden? We should stockpile food. Iâm worried another war is going to break out soon.â
âWe have only lived in peace for a short time. Many people lose their lives in every war between us two races. My son was martyred on the battlefield.â âDonât talk about such things. Maybe it isnât that bad. We should believe in our king.â
