Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 1070
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Crystalâs POV:
I remained among the crowd, awaiting word for Rufusâ. If Rufus was returning to the imperial capital, as everyone had said, he would have to travel through here.
It was around dawn when I caught a glimpse of a convoy of cars making their way towards the city walls. It was Rufusâ convoy.
Roughly twenty or thirty military vehicles led the way, covering and shielding the three black off-road vehicles in the center. I squeezed through the crowd and made my way to the front. Immediately, I spotted Rufusâ car. There seemed to be someone else in it with him. I frowned and wished I could get a better look, but the car had already driven off.
The person must be one of Rufusâ subordinates. I rubbed my head and tried not to think too much into it. Then I tailed the convoy and headed back to the imperial capital.
The convoy sped off and was quickly out of sight. But to my luck, I spotted a beat-up motorcycle on the side of the road and rode it all the way back. When I arrived at the imperial palace, it was almost noon. I rushed to Lauraâs palace, only to find no one there. She must have gone to Rufusâ palace.
With that in mind, I made my way to the lycan kingâs palace but didnât go in. I merely asked a guard at the door about Rufusâ condition.
âHow is the king?â
The guard recognized me and answered, âHis Majesty is fine. The doctor said that he would recover after a period of good rest.â
âThatâs good.â I breathed a sigh of relief and bid goodbye to the guard.
However, before I could even turn around, he stopped me and asked enthusiastically, âAlpha, youâre leaving already? Donât you need me to go inside and inform His Majesty that youâre here?â
âNo need. I donât want you to bother the king. Let him have a good rest.â I hurried to stop the guard from entering the palace to inform Laura and the others. There was no need for me to see them unless it was absolutely necessary. To be honest, I wasnât even sure whether Rufus had noticed me when he woke up. It would be a bad idea for me to wander around his place.
The guard scratched his head in confusion. âSo you just came here to ask about the kingâs condition? Why donât you take a look yourself?â
âItâs okay. I was just walking by and thought Iâd ask about him.â I responded casually as if I didnât care. Meanwhile, my eyes kept wandering to the door of the palace. Even though I knew that Rufus wouldnât suddenly appear, I was still longing to see him.
It was really difficult to pretend that I didnât care.
At this time, two soldiers walked out of the palace while talking enthusiastically. They spoke of a she- wolf, claiming that this mysterious figure had rescued Rufus.
For some reason, I was suddenly filled with anxiety, dread as well as excitement. I was terrified that Rufus would find out it was me. But at the same time, I didnât want him to not know anything of my heroic act.
Although I knew it was best that he didnât know anything, I still couldnât help but expect him to know it was me.
As long as it was about Rufus, I had always felt like a wretched creature hiding in the dark, desperately seeking exposure to the light despite knowing the light would destroy me.
âThe king would not be here today if the she-wolf hadnât come to his rescue. His wounds would have been inflamed and he could have die there.
This is probably the most severe injury Iâve ever seen. His Majesty is so fortunate.â
Hearing this, I felt both grateful and guilty. But somehow, I also felt a little strange. Rufus had been in a coma all the time, so he didnât know that I had saved him. Even if he woke up and found the herbs on his b*ody, how would he know that it was a she- wolf who had saved him?
Did Rufus see my back when I tried to run away yesterday? It was at this moment that I realized I had left my clothing in the cave.
Did they infer from my clothing covering Rufus that he was rescued by a she-wolf?
I couldnât help but laugh at the thought, so I cut in, âWhat a pity! We donât know who saved the king.â
Hearing me spoke, the two soldiers suddenly raised their heads and looked at me strangely. âEveryone knows that Miss Adela Castillo from the Polaris Pack saved him.â
What?
I was dumbfounded. Adela who? Who the hell was she?
