Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 1085
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Lucyâs POV:
I walked out of the room, making sure to lock the door behind me. As soon as I exited the corridor, I was greeted by the sight of Adela. Her face was all scrunched up in her anxious musings.
I shot her a glare, but she didnât seem to notice me. She was so deep in thought that she eventually ran right into me.
That only irritated me even more. If I could find someone else, I wouldnât bother working with this brainless idiot.
Adelaâs eyes lit up when she finally saw me. âI thought you werenât here!â she exclaimed.
I felt my scowl deepen. âIâve told you time and time again not to come to me unless itâs urgent! Donât you realize how easy it is to expose both of us if you keep coming here like this?â
I could tell that Adela wasnât taking my words seriously. She just beamed at me and practically skipped to my side, taking my hands in hers. âIâm here to share some good news with you.â
âWhat is it?â I didnât want to waste time exchanging nonsense with her. I pulled away in disgust, and then walked past her to get a glassof water.
Adela was still smiling, seemingly unfazed by my obvious animosity. âThanks to the instructions you gave me, I was able to save Rufus from grave danger. He has since promised to marry me as his new mate.â
I curled my lips in disdain. âReally? You, saved Rufus?â
Adela simply pursed her lips and tilted her head as if she hadnât had a care in the world. âThe details donât matter, as long as the desired result is met. Rufus even told Laura that our wedding will be held to the highest standard. Soon, I will be the queen, the most honorable she-wolf in the kingdom.â
I sneered and rolled my eyes. âIf that is the case, then you should be happily spending your time with Rufus instead of wasting my time.â
Sure enough, Adelaâs face froze, and a look of horror flashed in her eyes. âThatâs right, you have a point there.â
I couldnât help but snort derisively. âTell me, then. What is the problem?â
Adela seemed to consider her words carefully before speaking. âThe one who actually saved Rufus⦠I think that itâs his former mate.â
She paused and nervously fiddled with her hands. âBut I donât know why she left before he woke up. I arrived at the perfect moment and grabbed the opportunity to pretend I was Rufusâ savior. I was so excited that time that I didnât even think about anything else. It wasnât until I overheard a conversation between Laura and the doctor later that I found out the only reason Rufus was recovered from his serious injuries so soon was because the help of his mate. Luckily, Rufus automatically assumed that I was his mate. Otherwise, our plans would have fallen apart.â
Adelaâs words shocked me to the c*ore. Rufusâ mate? Did she mean Sylvia? But Sylvia had been executed for treason five years ago! How could she suddenly reappear out of the blue?
I could feel my face twist in angry confusion. âThereâs no way!â I screamed at Adela. âThat she- wolf has been long dead!â
âWell,â Adela said nervously, âthen is it possible that it was his real second mate?â
I had no answer to that. My thoughts were racing. If it had really been Rufusâ new mate, she would never have left him, unless she was hiding something.
More to the point, there was only one person who would jump over a cliff without hesitation to save Rufus.
That meant that Sylvia had deceived everyone, pretending to be dead all this time!
I felt uneasy at the prospect of Sylvia returning to the capital. She knew far too much for my comfort. She might even reveal the fact that Firman was not a true member of the royal family.
I whirled around and directed my ire at Adela. âThe potion I gave you might have Rufus mistake you for his mate, but it will only last for a month. You must make him fall in love with you as soon as possible.
Thatâs your only hope of escaping punishment once he learns of the truth. Otherwise, there is nothing I can do to help you once the effects of the potion fade.â
